Maybe Soulsinger is what Ep2 is called after Squadron 42; they can't really call it Squadron 42 2/part 2. Since they stated long ago it's supposed to be a trilogy maybe they are simply future proofing ahead of time.
It could be a lot of things, but it feels like a new game. Possibly something to generate revenue, like a mobile game, because they feel the community funding well is drying up.
Never once lol. Their whole idea isn't possible on the scale they want. Every server being an individual entity means every server has to communicate to each other, to each client and to the replication server. This is going to cause massive desync without time dilation. Without loading screens you cannot do time dilation unless you do it on a entire cluster this means that the whole pkg of servers slows to a crawl if one of them does. The whole practical reason they want to do it the way they are is to save server costs. The reason no one else has done it this way is the amount of infrastructure required to develop it will not be covered by the savings as servers get cheaper to run every year as technology improves. They could have had back end server meshing from Amazon but they don't want to pay for it and also didn't want to profit share for it.
There's still a bug at new Babbage where it's not registering recycled material at the TDD office and I have a message on the front of the screen every time I jump into any of my ships saying that I have undeposited cargo and if I leave the area it will fail. Hower it won't go away.
The weapon grup screen reminds me alot of Starsector, wich is always good. Along with Eve i think it should be one of those games they take alot of inspiration from.
As always, I'm really glad you stick to your guns with the funding stuff. Even putting your money where your mouth is by buying JUST skins. I don't think enough of the community will follow suit to make CIG reconsider the future of their funding model, unfortunately, but it gives me some hope when seeing popular content creators at least *try* to set an example.
@@frogger2011ify Never said anything about a subscription (which, just FYI, they could legally turn into a "premium" access subscription like other games have done if they wanted....not that it would be a good idea). Not sure if you've just never watched Mike or what, but I'm on the same page as him when it comes to selling skins (they absolutely could/should build a skin system into the game), cosmetics (like decor), and inconsequential accoutrements. There is nothing legally requiring them to continue selling ships, guns, armor, land claims, etc. that all have real in-game consequences. Especially when they're now backed into a corner for selling guns and armor for real money and trying to figure out how to both make sure players can never lose those items but also not create an unlimited-item loop in their game. Same with the ships. No, they are definitively NOT stuck with this funding model.
Appreciate your perspective on the Atls cost. Creating a problem to sell a solution is a perfect way to put it. Especially since they couldn’t get trolleys ready for 3.24. The Atls should have been free or purchasable in game on launch day to make the cargo patch more enjoyable. I’ve lost so much faith in the SC community at large with the number of people defending them over the way they handled the Atls.
Thanks for another great review video. I know it doesn't feel like there have been a ton of wins this past year, but I am super excited for citizen con this year. I backed for Star Citizen, but at this point I'm just looking for any sci-fi experience with the level of graphical fidelity and detail that CIG is capable of, so I find myself more looking forward to SQ42 since it is the deliverable product that is closest to being in a playable state. Also very curious about what soul singer is. It would be kinda cool if they were publishing a game made by another studio that used their engine to make a game. It would be a good revenue stream to keep the company in good health without needing us to keep opening our wallets. I guess we'll find out at cit con. Or we won't.
You also cant upgrade to the ATLS, I have an Aurora MR SQ+PU pack I would have just added the extra 10 bucks to get it - the MR just collects dust and I have Zeus CL coming, would have just fit my stuff real nice
I am wondering if they had the meshing guys working since the last test on the new queuing system. One of my major complaints is that SC has such a small team working on server tech that they can only work on one back end thing at a time.
Like you Mike, i really love the look of the Zeus, but i had exactly the same thoughts as you in relation to how you load all that cargo. It looks like it'll be a pain in the ass!. Was seriously thinking of swapping my C1 for it, but don't think i will now.
haha, they always say everything is fine and working as intended, its just not done yet. even the broken excuse for a flight model gets a "we're pretty happy with the MM changes"
I hope that new UI/HUD wont tank on FPS count, just like the old one. I see around 20 fps loss when im looking at MFD displays. Especially visible in Freelancer.
I wonder if SoulSinger is a touring group in the large Passenger ships who are different bands using their likeness on stage to showcase their tunes across the verse in Star Citizen. Just guessing.
I think swapping weapon groups matters for PvPvE. You can use lasers for PvE and swap to a single or dual ballistic setup for players. Obviously you won't have the same damage output as a player who is full ballistic, but you won't need to compromise and you'll be able to kill the player more efficiently if you're a better pilot.
Hex codes for MFDs? How about instead (you're going to love this) CIG charge $20 per ship, per colour? You get a colour that might be similar to what you like, and CIG gets to pocket millions for no work at all!
GSC is set to release Stalker 2 in November after 14 years in development. While similar development time to CIG, GSC was based out of Ukraine. The S2 team has been able to put out a game while waging war.
- GSC didn't have to crowdfund their game because they had a full development team from the start. - The war only has affected them these past couple of years. - Squadron 42 will most likely be a finished product.
The two are nowhere near comparison. Stalker 2 isn't even shipping with multiplayer, whereas Star Citizen is creating a pretty complex MMORPG "simulation" game. MMORPG's are already among the harder types of games to create and they're taking that to the extreme, making a game that really hasn't been made before, with tech that they have to make from scratch. I'm definitely excited for Stalker 2, but the two games are just in different leagues.
I'm excited for the new weapon groups as a oldskool Starfleet Command 2 Dynaverse player. I just hope the flight model gets more fleshed and figured out by then. (copium)
i feel like soulsinger was maybe audio tech tbh i thought they were supposed to be working on some big audio upgrade for the game, so it could be a proprietary audio engine they made to do it.
Good video, Mike. I understand and agree with your complaint about the CL, but saying that it's not useful as a hauler is a bit of a stretch, no? Even if you don't use the second layer of cargo and you're missing out on 24 SCU of potential space, that still leaves 104 SCU to work with. That's slightly more than a RAFT. And the size of the CL means that you can fit any size box, including two 32 SCU boxes, making it superior to the Hull A in that regard. I would agree that it was "sold" as being able to carry 128 SCU, and it looks like that configuration might be challenging to achieve (though we'll see once it's in our hands), but wanted to push back (a little) at what I see as more hyperbole.
@@SaltEMike Like what, exactly? What are you comparing it to? It's got more cargo than the Spirit and Freelancer Max, and it's the same size. The next highest would be the Constellation series, which are bigger and more expensive ships, and who knows what they'll look like after they get reworked. Again, no shade on you if you don't want to use it, but it's hyperbole to say it's useless as a cargo ship, especially compared to other ships in it's size category. It might not be the perfect cargo hauler, but it stacks up well to existing ships.
@@hubertaurelien1144 yep I still do it with the handheld, but nerfing them before trying to sell the ATLS was diabolical and shameful. I find that they keep repeating this pattern over the years, never appearing to learn any lessons
I usually defend CIG's funding model. I think people should be responsible for their own spending habits. BUT, this time I'm a bit pissed with the whole ATLS suit, and not because of its price or that they are selling it. I'm not impressed that they already sold a vehicle specifically designed to move boxes around (the mule). They sold the mule to people and said it doesn't work yet. Everyone said ok we understand, with the assumption that when the cargo / box moving mechanics were implemented in the game the mule would work. Instead CIG designed and built an entirely new vehicle and built and implemented the box moving mechanics, and did nothing about fixing the mule so it would also work. Effectively saying to those who paid money for a mule, yea we know it still doesn't work, but hey you can buy this brand new vehicle and that one works. I think CIG should have never released the mech suit, without also making the mule, (a vehicle they sold for the specific purpose of moving cargo boxes around), work. I would have had no issues or problems if they said hey we made this awesome mech suit to move boxes, and also we added the mew mechanics to the mule and that works now too ..... have fun. Poor form CIG, just really poor form.
Ifthey are going to sell anything and everything THEN they need to have skins or badges for the ships you earnt to show you did the work. Something that says 'I earnt this'.
Server meshing still not working. Well this tech was always going to be "sink or swim" for this game . . . I hope they get it right, but after two attempts and it's this bad, I am negative about it sadly :(
CIG is exactly "Creating a problem to sell a solution". You can't really (you can obviously do whatever you want) support the game if you don't support that model because they are 1 and the same.
They said “if your flying solo” at 14:15 in regards to the power management MFDs, are copilots going to be able to copilot is that what he hinted at when talking about the power adjustments?!?
While they should provide default MFD, it seems to me this should ultimately be in player control. Allow access to ship stats and functions. I'm positive the community can come up with better stuff. Allow for uploading of html templates or possibly a mod store like steam workshop. But even if you don't want to allow that level of customization in game it should be available for people who want to run custom MFD on tablets and second screens.
Seems like the Argo + Inventory changes has spent the whole year just bug fixes that alone. Was this the best use of their dwindling resources (cash) no, but they are only there to make sure you keep your hopes and dreams so they can have your money.
The pricing is ridiculous, although I'm embarrassed to say I'm concierge. In contrast, aircraft in MSFS 2020 market are affordable with many sales. The most expensive MSFS 2020 aircraft are the price of the lowest entry level ships in SC .

For RSI Constellation (All) they mentioned only turrets? But what about the missing second shield generator?? And maybe also better handling in atmosphere? And what about the landing, where the tip of the ship is too heavy (or the tail too light) that front almost always touches the ground?
I know all these MFD changes are amazing, but you said something that kind of confused me. This originally happened when I was in your chat during the ISC reaction and you made a comment about how the guns shot faster, but again I hear that get brought up and it just makes me think. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the power triangle does currently change the way components of your ship work. If you set it to full on any of the specific corners, the ratios change. So full power to shields lowers the recharge time. Full power to weapons changes the capacitor.... capacity, and full power to thrusters lowers the charge time on your boost. Now I understand that the upcoming changes make this even more in-depth, but it sounded like you said that these things just weren't in game at all when they are, so I got confused. Do you not use your power triangle, @saltemike? lol If not, that's totally cool, but yeah. I think seeing more capability in the adjustment and allocation of power in a ship is so awesome and I'm excited to see where things end up.
If they had sold it for $10 bucks lti warbond and 15 store credit they probably would have sold several hundred thousands people loading up on bulk lti tokens and others for a cheap power loader mech suit. They could have made a lot more than they did. Honestly can't even think of why they would shoot themselves in the foot for an easy dub and easy way to print money. Also the fact you cant CCU to this if you had something else lying around you'd turn into an ATLS seemed like an odd choice.

@@journeyingjen7554 so they can sell it to us...duh
15:38 Would be nice to see bullet impact fx on components that are unique and more showy, like big fire sparks and electrical discharge to give a more positive feedback to go along with the steadily increasing fire. These are the ship's main giblets after all
Great show 🤘
I think the zeus will be solid for cargo, especially solo with upside down the road. Assuming it's still one of the largest cargo ships able to use the smaller jump points
Maybe Soulsinger is what Ep2 is called after Squadron 42; they can't really call it Squadron 42 2/part 2. Since they stated long ago it's supposed to be a trilogy maybe they are simply future proofing ahead of time.
Lol no
Pretty sure they can call it Sq42: Pt 2 as long as they have the willpower to write it down. I don't know what else could possibly get in their way
It could be a lot of things, but it feels like a new game. Possibly something to generate revenue, like a mobile game, because they feel the community funding well is drying up.
Too bad Master Modes is just making ship flight completely unenjoyable.
Yeah I'm with you. I hate what they did to it fr.
Atls mech could easily been made a rep reward for hauling or delivery missions.
Someone please show Paul at the Astro pub this video. He said in his podcast that meshing worked great on all the tests… 😂
It did
@@strategygalactic Show proof then :) Every stream that was live had issues.
They could have had back end server meshing from Amazon but they don't want to pay for it and also didn't want to profit share for it.
bro fixing the cargo/tractor beam hull damage was HUGE for me! I stopped using my Connie's tractor beam because of that, but now it's so CLEAN!
Hoping for an apartment hangar module. Being able to load right into my hanger would be amazing
Unfortunately, they did not fix the price of the Atlas.
It's just fine.
They did. It now costs $35.
Along with Eve i think it should be one of those games they take alot of inspiration from.
elite dangerous has basically the same thing
As always, I'm really glad you stick to your guns with the funding stuff. Even putting your money where your mouth is by buying JUST skins. I don't think enough of the community will follow suit to make CIG reconsider the future of their funding model, unfortunately, but it gives me some hope when seeing popular content creators at least *try* to set an example.
They are stuck with this funding model as they sold us access to the game with the game pkg they cannot legally start requiring a monthly subscription
Been stable lately...very nice.
Great stream. Always look forward to Week in Review.
Scrolling through MFDs are annoying.I hope the power adjustments can still be done via shortcuts via having to mess with clicking on a screen.
I'll maybe get back into SC once they fix the ore-pods-wont-come-up-the-elevator bug. All I want is 48 scu storage on my Prospector
@@wdipuccio x4
You also cant upgrade to the ATLS, I have an Aurora MR SQ+PU pack I would have just added the extra 10 bucks to get it - the MR just collects dust and I have Zeus CL coming, would have just fit my stuff real nice
I am wondering if they had the meshing guys working since the last test on the new queuing system. One of my major complaints is that SC has such a small team working on server tech that they can only work on one back end thing at a time.
I’m thinking of buying ghe zeus or crosair but i don’t know? Witch one do you guys think is better
Best line - "I dont support Creating a problem to sell the solution" 👏👏👏
Like you Mike, i really love the look of the Zeus, but i had exactly the same thoughts as you in relation to how you load all that cargo. It looks like it'll be a pain in the ass!. Was seriously thinking of swapping my C1 for it, but don't think i will now.
Ah, so the grass ISN'T greener on the other side.
haha, they always say everything is fine and working as intended, its just not done yet.
even the broken excuse for a flight model gets a "we're pretty happy with the MM changes"
dude istg CIG would sell the in-game Cruz Lux drinks for real life money if they were any less ethical
I hope that new UI/HUD wont tank on FPS count, just like the old one. I see around 20 fps loss when im looking at MFD displays. Especially visible in Freelancer.
that cereal was at my local grocery outlet for 9$ a box
i could only imagine what it cost from the manufacturer
I wonder if SoulSinger is a touring group in the large Passenger ships who are different bands using their likeness on stage to showcase their tunes across the verse in Star Citizen. Just guessing.
I think swapping weapon groups matters for PvPvE. You can use lasers for PvE and swap to a single or dual ballistic setup for players. Obviously you won't have the same damage output as a player who is full ballistic, but you won't need to compromise and you'll be able to kill the player more efficiently if you're a better pilot.
Yay, over 1K views for this before I watched it - looking good.
I don’t understand why they won’t just let us choose the colors of our MFDs. Same thing with them not allowing us to mute the hangar sirens.
It isnt supposed to be that way.
@@strategygalactic Which is dumb, that is the point. Just cause they don't want to have it that way doesn't stop it from being dumb.
I will not be using it over other ships in its class.
Can’t afford the ATLS which sucks because all I do is cargo haul. It’s kind of sad how they exploit us for money.
To be fair you don't need the ATLS to do cargo haul, it sure helps
@@hubertaurelien1144 yep I still do it with the handheld, but nerfing them before trying to sell the ATLS was diabolical and shameful. I find that they keep repeating this pattern over the years, never appearing to learn any lessons
Its not the RMQ, its now the power supplies on the server racks
"we decided not to rewrite or refactor it but to bandaid. this took forever. now that finally it's done, we will rewrite it." .... duh
These are great as awlays, thank you!
Ifthey are going to sell anything and everything THEN they need to have skins or badges for the ships you earnt to show you did the work. Something that says 'I earnt this'.
Server meshing still not working. Well this tech was always going to be "sink or swim" for this game . . .
I hope they get it right, but after two attempts and it's this bad, I am negative about it sadly :(
And they said atls is not a cash grab it’s a new “tool”
CIG is exactly "Creating a problem to sell a solution". You can't really (you can obviously do whatever you want) support the game if you don't support that model because they are 1 and the same.
I'm confused regarding being "coupled", versus "decoupled", it sounds like the "coupled" mode is going away, leaving only "decoupled", that's crazy?
Thanks for the recap
They said “if your flying solo” at 14:15 in regards to the power management MFDs, are copilots going to be able to copilot is that what he hinted at when talking about the power adjustments?!?
1/2 working is just fine for CIG
for the price of an atlas and a couple of skin you can buy a whole fuctionning game. Hope it will be rentable for cheap in game...
So why do we need a reinforced skeletal mech suit if we're just using beams to move things?
Wow mfds look awesome will they be persistent?
While they should provide default MFD, it seems to me this should ultimately be in player control. Allow access to ship stats and functions. I'm positive the community can come up with better stuff. Allow for uploading of html templates or possibly a mod store like steam workshop. But even if you don't want to allow that level of customization in game it should be available for people who want to run custom MFD on tablets and second screens.
I disagree with you.
Power management seems more of a co polit thing. Little hard to do while solo combat
Always look forward to Week in Review. Thanks SaltEMike!
My only concern with the Zeus is can it carry an Ursa? If not, I'll hang on to my MSR.
Seems like the Argo + Inventory changes has spent the whole year just bug fixes that alone. Was this the best use of their dwindling resources (cash) no, but they are only there to make sure you keep your hopes and dreams so they can have your money.
I sense this was the breaking point for many
Once you see it for a shameless cash grab, you can't unsee it
Haven't played since june. I want to, but the more i see and hear, the more i avoid it.
im gonna sell my SC account, wasted enough money, time to get out whilst i can
The pricing is ridiculous, although I'm embarrassed to say I'm concierge.
In contrast, aircraft in MSFS 2020 market are affordable with many sales.
The most expensive MSFS 2020 aircraft are the price of the lowest entry level ships in SC .
Will these hud, weapon groups, etc be persistent for each ship?
You can see drake's radar easily with the consistently dark background, every other radar is pretty terrible. Other than that, the new ui elements are a big improvement. I hope power distribution has presets.
Combat titan suits are definitely happening at citcon
Have they announced when they are going to fix the crap pay? Until then I'm playing other stuff, I'm not starting at 3k, 6k, 10k missions nope fix them CIG. They said they were rebalancing them months ago, now it takes 3x as long and you get 5% what we used to. I have a sweet flight simulator that I play alot more now that you made these missions crap pay, cause I don't play this! Not to mention every other day I login and find everything reset back to my default location, and all my components removed again for the 3rd time in a week.
Idk about you but I'm mining with a prospector and making 150k in 1h more or less depends how much I search
@@morganlefay-k4c Actually that was my plan, I loaded up my Prospector and realized my bags had been reset. So had my rep. So I had to go hand mine a ship since my Vulture was also removed. I came back another night to go start the 1st salvage mission to unlock the bags again, and noticed they had now "ghost wiped" my Prospector. This is when the frustration hit. I earned the Vulture and Prospector, and now their patches have removed them. You think I am going to earn it again with 3k missions? That's why I've stopped playing. I know I can rent one, but I already DID this. They will wipe again, I don't even care at this point just not playing until wipes are over.
they put the RMQ in LIVE 3.24.1 btw with
Thank you for mentioning the SoulSinger. If that is actually a new game it means they use our money to make another game. I have a problem with that! They didn't even deliver SC and Squadron42 yet. And SC is not playable right now.
Do you know what it reminds me of; Cyripto Zoo! Remember that? That guy took people's money and then didn't deliver the game.
@@legnaminescence as long as Chris is at the helm or involved in anything really especially financing then it won't ever get done. He has a history of never completing a single thing, miss appropriation of funds and being fire for this. Not to mention anvil studios
Wow. I thought I'd never see the day of actual good HUDs. I am shocked and happy. Ship HUDs in this game have always sucked. This is giving me hope in CIG.
Why not? Theyve been making updates for years now.
@@strategygalactic Because, I never thought they would. Just like in every Medical bay Room 4, on every station that has one... there's an area where you take damage right in front of the door, as though you're in space with no helmet on. It's a thing that's been in the game FOREVER, and I doubt they will ever fix it. And since all medical rooms are just cut n paste jobs, seems they would only have to fix the main reference. Will they? Probably not :(

The week should learn, to review itself!
Good shit saltymike keep up the good work
Do you think they play C.R.E.A.M. to open every marketing meeting?
Thanks as always Mike!
OMG CIG UI TEAM I LOVE YOU config screen hud setting THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I honestly prefer current power management MFD to whatever abomination is that thing. Would be nice if they make them optional like a toggle option in settings to use legacy MFDs or new ones
the new UI + Game Glass = GREAT
the MDF (UI) was the same with different color ....
I like the «generic» MFD most, looks most like RSI :)
If we use your affiliate code, does it come with a packet of salt?
In AC my HOTAS only goes one direction now, anybody else with this problem?
maaaan, I wish it was possible to have the Zeus ES black & white paintjob on the CL variant, 'cause the blue paint is kinda hideous.
The price of a quickly thrown out tractor beam.. a solution solely to fix the terrible implementation CIG have put in and created, is hilarious. These things should be standard in all hangars, never mind expecting players to buy them. In truth a multi tool could have all this functionality, they’ve just gate kept it behind a pay wall. CIG deserve a down year funding wise.
They need to turf Chris. Before amazon abandoned project lumber yard and made cry engine open source the best option I saw was cig going tits up and amazon taking the project over and fixing it. Chris has never done anything other than bilk people outa money and get fired for it.
I just realized why they nerfed the 400i. Now they can sell more of their new shiny ships...
For RSI Constellation (All) they mentioned only turrets? But what about the missing second shield generator?? And maybe also better handling in atmosphere? And what about the landing, where the tip of the ship is too heavy (or the tail too light) that front almost always touches the ground?
It isnt supposed to have good handling in atmo by design.
Does Magic Spoon cereal have zero sugar cuz it uses additives?
