  • This Nissan Qashqai came in with a massive rattle from the front end over rough roads. Rob shows you what he found.

    Just bought a new Qashqai and loving it so far. Now I know why they’re number 1 in the UK........good value for the money and pretty easy to work on. I like mine because it’s made in Japan!

    I had a rattle coming up through my steering wheel (2013 Qashqai Ti) at low speed traveling over things like cobblestones. Replaced both front sway bar links; sway bar centre bush; both front shocks.
    Finally conquered it with a new right tie rod end. Now steers and handles like a new one.

    Funny... I had to replace a couple of links this past week as well. "Qashqai" wouldn't last long in North America... Cash-Cow would be the nickname once too many repairs started to surface! =)

    Nice one Rob.
    Nice ultra thin spanners. I ground down a bunch of my dads old Halfords ones for those sorts of jobs the last few years... He still complains about it. 😂
    How often does that half inch beast you have refuse to shift a rusty bolt Rob? I've had a cheap Ryobi half inch impact the last few years. I can't really complain for what i paid but a lot of the old beat up rusty crap i work on i find myself resorting to a breaker bar. I noticed quite a few of these mega powerful half inch battery impacts popping up and I'm tempted...

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  7 років тому

      Mate the impact is an animal!! Check it out on ACS website, get one then learn how to handle the power! 😂

    If you squirt CRC etc into the thread before tightening,they will be easier to remove next time,same applies to all underbody threads especially where roads are salted for ice.

    Do the wheels need to be off the ground ? Is it normally the bottom joint that goes or can the top that joins the suspension leg show signs ?

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  5 років тому

      Mark Shenton either joint can wear. Probably best diagnosed with the wheels on the ground (in their normal position) if you can crawl underneath or on a four post lift. These were so bad the movement showed up with the wheels off the ground

    Hi Rob... I am from Singapore...my Quashai is having this knocking sounds when i go over a hump..the mechanic already changed the links and the rubber bushings and also the front shocks but the sound is still there.... Now he suggested to change the lower arms. What do you think is the issue. I cannot go to do too much trials and errors.

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  3 роки тому

      Hi Peter, thanks for watching. By the sounds of it I think you need to change your mechanic. Sorry I can’t be there to help. Good luck

    What about a knock when you steer the wheel left & right, track rod end(s)?

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  7 років тому

      Well thats different altogether, could be track rod ends, inner track rods, steering rack, ball joints, strut mounts. It would need checking out.

    I worked at a nissan dealer for 5 years and changed hundreds of those links they are junk. Looks very similar to the Sentra, Rogue, and Altima here in Canada

    Was that a 1/4'' drive flex head ratchet, Rob?

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  7 років тому

      3/8" drive flex head 👍

    • @35milesperhour94
      @35milesperhour94 7 років тому

      Oh yes I see now----the omnipresent 3/8'' drive locking flex head that you use on everything. I couldn't tell initially because the locking lever was facing from us away towards the car. I could swear I've seen you use a 1/4'' drive flex head in one of your videos though.

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  5 років тому

      Neil CAUNTER should be the same either way up. Side to side they are different

    • @Taxidriver1957
      @Taxidriver1957 5 років тому

      Many thanks, I’ve just changed the nearside one along with the lower suspension arm, but now the steering wheel seems slightly off the 9-3 position and I wondered if I’d fitted the anti roll link upside down or something equally as silly.

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  5 років тому +2

      Oh ok. If you have changed the lower arm then you now need to get the wheel alignment done to straighten the steering wheel.
