I have a Gen 1 EX4 purchased in 5/21. Every working component (controller, igniter, auger chute, auger 2 times, temp sensor) was replaced during the first two years of ownership. A Weber employee replaced the temp sensor at my home. So basically I have a Gen 2 smoker now. I use it several times a month. I believe it puts more smoke on the meat than most if not all other pellet smokers due to the lack of a smoke stack. It’s interesting that many newer models have copied this feature. App is also much improved. I agree, it’s a shame they rushed it to market.

It's different than the kettle. I would recommend a cover at the very least when not in use.

I've had a gen 2 ex4 for about 3 years.. need to keep the fine saw dust out of the hopper. Also changing the igniter regularly prevents issues
I wish it had a hour meter for maintenance

In your video, I noticed a gap in the back of your burn pot. It may not be sitting flush, recommend checking it as that can cause Temps to fluctuate or even a flameout. Congrats on three years of ownership. Love my elx6. Weber added a metal heat deflector to the front area on their last model. Suppose to help even out Temps. See if you can find one to add to your cookbox.

I had many smokefire grills and all have the same gap. Idk if it is intentional or a defect.

I also have an early gen 2 no problems and still all original parts. Too bad they rushed them to market with so many issues. I believe Weber really killed their chance of being a brand in the pellet grill game.

The idea of no grease tray is what I really like about this grill. I hope they do a better job with the Searwood.

Have you removed the finger guard inside the hopper?

@@unclegeorgesbbq1085 yes i did remove the guard, and i only use weber pellets
Other makes of pellets are bigger and more prone to jamming

@@dct150 try pit boss pellets, they are smaller most of the time. I had void issues too, specially when cooking at high temps. Since I removed the guard I havent had any issues.
