The progress that’s been made on your farm is incredible! I would love to see an updated video similar to the one where you introduced the new farm. So much has changed since that first visit! Home, greenhouse, garden, high tunnels, barn, and the animals…what a remarkable difference it would be to see side by side!
Yes, and the pergola and finished fountain! So much has been done and is being done. So fun watching hers and Miah's dreams coming to fruition. And we can each have a tiny bit of it, even if it's just a small patio or tiny container garden. We can all dream along, even on the smallest scale. Nice to know I can dream even in my 70's. Jess us such an inspiration!
You’re always giving us good advice so here’s a top tip for you: always leave your wheelbarrow in the direction you’re going to go after you fill it, then you don’t have to turn it when it’s heavy and full. 😚
I agree with Will. I loved just watching Miah, you and Will, even at fast speed, starting your seeds in the greenhouse yesterday...and to see all the activity today makes me appreciate even more that you take the time to include your viewers. Thank you!.
I thinks it’s good for people to see the HARD work of shoveling, wheelbarrows, etc, that gets you to the results you always show. Some don’t realize how hard it is.
Thank you so much for reminding us that progress takes time. "The expression of what a garden is takes time". We are in our 3rd year and things are just now starting to come together. Its hard to wait, because we want it to look like our vision right now.
Planning and dreaming about the garden and making changes to the garden can be my greatest time spent during the cold winter months. Always evolving and bearing more fruit each season. I love gardening!
Yes, the garden takes more work than one would suspect - by the same token, it NEVER gets old when you love what you are doing! Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA - 3-2-2023.
Thank you for taking us along on some of the work. Watching you sink that shovel into the soil was so satisfying, lol. We are still frozen up here in my neck of the woods. I can't wait for the day when things thaw and our soil is soft enough to play with again. I am entering my 4th year in my current garden, it is definitely ever evolving. If a garden were a person I think mine would be in its teenage years. Starting to get some maturity, still fighting back in some spots, but it's really starting to know what it is and embracing it's character :)
Did you say that it's been two years since you introduced us to the new farm?! That is unbelievable! The theme song of an old soap opera comes quickly to mind: 'like sands of an hour glass, so are the days of our lives'. Thanks for bring us along!
Jess I have been watching you for a few years now. I just wanted to say that you wear the carnivore diet very well. Your eyes have always had a sparkle when it comes to garden starting but this year...there is something more beautiful about that sparkle. I'm glad you are finally on the road to feeling like a million bucks!
A trick I use when filling a wheelbarrow to move soil from one place to another is to put a lot of plastic pots into the wheelbarrow. That way when I get to my destination, I can just pick up the pots and dump them.
I have been amending my "new" garden beds for 3 years and just today.....finally saw worms! Your garden is SO, SO lovely. It's going to be beautiful when it's a grown-up.
Your journey from Arkansas to where you are now has been a whirlwind! Has it been over a year & then some already 😚?! Thank you for letting us come along . Spring is getting closer & closer. Less than 20 days!! I have been planting some cool weather seeds. Couldn't help it, when you were planting all of your seeds, I just had to go get my garden manicure on. 🤭.
I would love a drone vlog of the now compared to the then!! I remember watching the premiere vlog of your big announcement of moving. I remember the tree you love by the pond. I commented on how cool it was that God grew that tree just for you to love!! Congratulations on your almost 2 year anniversary of living your dream!! God is good and He can do anything!!!
I love Bear. I was especially inspired about the story you told years ago about how God answered your prayers in giving Bear to you. I searched your channel archives to see if I could find that video to no avail. I am thinking it was a part of one of your devotionals. I did find an article you wrote, A Girl’s Best Friend, back in 2019; but it would be wonderful to hear you tell it again sometime. Some of your new viewers would probably be inspired by the story, too. Blessings from NC
"A garden takes time" is a good point to keep stressing. With lots of money to throw at it, it'll take years just because of the maturation time. If one is on a tight budget, it'll take many more years than that! IMO a gardener should have lots of patience and consider it a journey. Just keep on building the garden and, someday, the garden will be the envy of others.
This Maine gardener continues to love your videos! Soon enough we will have warm temps and soil, til then I garden through you! The garden tub is beautiful; consider it a stand alone piece with the round vego planter further away. Thank you Jess for the work that goes into sharing your journey!
Yes, a combination of teaching videos, vlogs, and just working with no need for explaining is nice. Variety is the spice of life. Also I'm so excited to see you start the garden activities
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that wears nice bright shoes out to do the dirty work 😅 I'm not saying it's a good idea, it's just nice knowing I'm not alone in this! Your farm is looking amazing! Can't wait to see the garden in all it's glory!
Thank you for mentioning about bringing up the basics. People tend to forget the small things whenever they’ve been doing something for a very long time. Anybody new at anything isn’t going to know the most basic steps without being educated first. It took me a very long time to just even learn the right soil and amendments for my raised beds.
I’ve been trying to make like videos and I’m stuck here obsessed over the way I look making sure no strand of hair is out of place making sure my clothes look good. Now I’m sitting here watching you show the real work and you’ve inspired me to put my vanity on the backseat and just get to work no matter what strands of hair are out of place because after all I’ve never once looked at you and though about how you could look better, no I just admire the amazing perfect human you are. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for your inspiration I hope you get to read this during a moment of peace🌿💛 blessings🥰
I actually won't watch videos where the woman's hair is perfect, makeup and fancy nails. I don't connect with her and doesn't understand my life. Maybe I'm just not their target audience and that's okay. So define your target audience and go for it.
I so appreciate you and your peaceful, calm messages. There is so much drama and fear mongering on social media, and I can always count on you to keep things in perspective.
I say you have a beautiful place!! It's a place for healing the eyes and heart. A place to be inspired! I've wanted to do some kind of flagstone paths especially out by the fire pit!
It’s so fun watching a plan come together. Whether it is our own or others, it’s always encouraging. We got our dream property a couple years ago and I had zero gardening experience. Patience is not my thing. Amazing thing about nature…she knows exactly what to do and I am learning to be excited about that process and learning to make what I do now go with the natural flow. Has made me appreciate and enjoy this process SO much more! PS: don’t pull perennials out at the end of the first year thinking that because they didn’t bloom they were defective. Lol. Lesson number 1!
When the pavilion is done and phase One of the garden is completed can you do a progression blog. Like snippets highlights from when y’all were moving to first time you saw it and how it has blossomed. I am so very proud of you guys and thankful to be able to faithfully watch every video for all the “Garden Blessings” (words by Daniel) 😊 ❤
I remember your very first Roots and Refuge video. I loved watching that garden grow and I'm loving watching this garden grow. It's so inspiring for us! I'm enjoying your journey while under 3 feet of snow. Hello from California.
Love the chat! Sleep, creep, leap - that was helpful to hear when I planted my space. Some of my plants are still "creeping" and I'm ok with that! Thanks for sharing!
Mrs Jess I love your channel! Along with Rhodes family,An holler homestead. Are my fav I watch whispering willow as well I just wanna say thank you. I live gardening obsessed with it an you've taught me almost everything I know. I found your channel three yrs ago. I just want to say thank you, you truly inspire me to get to work an that dreams come true if you pray an work hard enough . I want a homestead so bad I hope by next yr for now I'm using four properties not two acres all together lol but I grow alot of food cause you taught me how thank you with all my heart an may god continue to bless your family.
Evertime I watch, I remember that not long ago there was nothing on this land. I’m in awe of the progress you have made. The greenhouse is such a great space. Good work Miah and Jess!
Jess, you really do look amazing! I see you struggle with the wheel barrow and think - there are so many wonderful garden carts out there that are balanced with large wheels that roll over the earth more easily.
I'm sitting here watching all the busyness in your garden and I still can't decide where my gardens will be this year. It's a beautiful sight and I wish I could just settle on which beautiful I will build first!!!
I think one of the biggest things I've learned from watching you for years now is to do my best to be intentional with my spaces in the long term. I'm blessed to have an amazing farm. It's only getting better since I've made a conscious attempt to be intentional with the long-term use of the land. ❤️
I'm being selfish: "NOooo! Not the tub!!!!" I always hoped for you to fill that thing with clear warm water, with a glass of champaingne (sp) and enjoying living' the life! You are a blessing!......
At least 4 more years of great video coming our way - then the changes and I'm so happy to know what is in store for me with my own spent time watching! getting inspiration! getting knowledge! getting entertained! getting virtual experience, YEA and YES!
My yard shoes are so dirty! Those are some clean new shoes you have on. Dang, I know you have had medical problems, but you look good. Love your content! Okay, I don’t love the tub in that location. Your last garden was very eclectic, but this area is more defined. Just wait, the farm/garden is new. Eventually, the tub location will speak to you.
I can't wait to see what you plant in the tub. I literally closed my eyes to imagine the tub filled. I saw borage, lots of pink, purple, white flowers, and carpet thyme in the middle just spilling over the sides.
You are such an encouragement. We bought our current home in mid-2019 with no plans for a garden. In fact, we bought a fixer-upper HOME that met our needs, the fact that we have a 3/4 an acre was, well, that came with it. We decided to start a little raised bed veggie patch, and since then, we've added to it each year. We had so much work inside(we didn't have functioning appliances and the whole house reeked of tobacco smoke and stained walls, floors, cabinetry, etc) that we haven't made big progress outside, especially as it's just us and we work full-time jobs. I'm embracing the process, though, and appreciate the wealth of knowledge and encouragement you provide to take a dream, turn it into vision, and work toward reality. Bless you!
I once commented on a video of yours to say that I missed your old garden. Well I can say time is the number one thing to make something yours. Your whole vibe is coming out! I'm inspired by your videos. I've watched you and your family on this journey since 2019. And have been building our own little paradise along side yours.
A quick tip that I found easier when trying to scoop soil from a pile is instead of using a shovel and scooping into a wheelbarrow I get a 5 gallon bucket and set it on the edge of the pile and scoop it directly into the bucket. It was easier on my back.
Never one to complain about your content 😊. However, I really did enjoy this video. It truly shows in real time how much it takes to not get very far. I think that’s important. We tend to forget that things don’t just happen quickly.
Thank you for the reminder that a beautiful garden takes time. In todays world of, “I want it now” it’s a great reminder to enjoy the journey, and don’t rush the end result.
There used to be a show called Sunrise Earth that was a quiet hour of the sun rising in a natural location and much of this video has that same calming ASMR effect for me. LOVE farm sounds.
Your garden puts me in awh. I'll never have such a large and beautiful space. There's the dream, then there's reality. In reality, currently, I have a cute little garden. But it's still an infant. And as most infants, it will grow. As if watching a baby grow into a young child while experiencing boo-boos and heartaches, my baby is growing up. One day, it will be a beautiful adult. Life happens. You can't predict how or why it just does. God bless you and your family.
What a Blessing it is to see how far yall have come and watching your dreams unfold more and more everyday. God is Faithful and ALL things are possible if you believe!! Psalms 37:4 - Delight Thyself Also In The Lord And He “Shall” Give You The Desires Of Your Heart!!! Faithfulness And Dedication Friend!!! Love your beautiful place it looks so peaceful!!! God Bless You Friend
Well, it's not morning where I am, but good afternoon! And yes, thank you for "showing your work"! It's very instructive! Too bad about the ants! 🐜🐜🐜 A 5-year plan for the perennial garden is a beautiful thing.....so is setting us up for reasonable expectations, so thanks again, Jess!
I can't wait to see how things turn out down the road. It is ao hard to believe it is going on 2 years. The stones being laid will be awesome when down.
Thank you for the encouraging words. I am on year 3 of intentional gardening and I get so eager to see what the garden will look like when it's "done" but I need to just enjoy the checking off items on the list. It's much like our relationship with God right? We are in the word, praying, seeking Him, we establish our faith and we see lots of progress, but we know the work will never be completely done. There will always be more to learn, more to grow from and changes that God brings our way as He prunes and grafts us.
The progress that’s been made on your farm is incredible! I would love to see an updated video similar to the one where you introduced the new farm. So much has changed since that first visit! And the shark tank! 😂
@@lanalovesjesus6133 yes!! So many things!!
Yes!! Like the drone shots with the outline of the dream, and now!! The change to the plans, being fluid, etc!
I would like a video on how you break down the plan to know what you need to do to get there too. That is my big struggle right now.
Thank you so much for sharing the process!!!!
You’re always giving us good advice so here’s a top tip for you: always leave your wheelbarrow in the direction you’re going to go after you fill it, then you don’t have to turn it when it’s heavy and full. 😚

Love watching you in summer apparel working outside while we have heavy snow coming down!
Yes! Show, don't Tell. ❤️

I’m really enjoying hearing the chickens and turkeys sing us the songs of their people!
Did you say that it's been two years since you introduced us to the new farm?! That is unbelievable! The theme song of an old soap opera comes quickly to mind: 'like sands of an hour glass, so are the days of our lives'. Thanks for bring us along!
That was my moms show 😂😂
Was coming here to say the same thing. Making me realize how fast time goes 😊
Farm tours will take much longer now. This is a lot larger and more complex than her quaint backyard Arkansas farm! I would love to see it all!
I would not have the garden I have without you !
You're making be want to use an old bathtub for a garden bed. Love seeing the work too!
Congratulations on the worms! Every gardener’s gold.
Congrats ! I can relate !
Wormies!
Bear is just the best! Wow your farm is HUGE!!!
Sitting here in my office working. I just love hearing all the farm sounds! And the wind chimes with the wind blowing! LOVE. IT.
Your journey from Arkansas to where you are now has been a whirlwind! Has it been over a year & then some already 😚?! Thank you for letting us come along . Spring is getting closer & closer. I'd mural that tub with roots and refuge logo, or a favorite verse, biblical or from one of your poems or other prose
Yea that would have looked amazing at the entrance to the farm 😮 with the Roots and Refuge logo
It’s all looking so lovely! Can’t wait to see it all in its summer jungle glory 🙌
I love Bear. I was especially inspired about the story you told years ago about how God answered your prayers in giving Bear to you. Bear is one of my favorite as well!
this was strangely cathartic to watch. thank you
Everything is coming together beautifully!
I cannot believe it's been 2 years already! Wow!!!! ❤
Yellow is your COLOR😍 thanks for sharing the work side of the garden as well as the beauty. It's helpful and encouraging 🙂
When we see your farm on the screen, we also say, "Whoa!" 😉
"A garden takes time" is a good point to keep stressing. With lots of money to throw at it, it'll take years just because of the maturation time.

I wish there was a 💜 button for this. How lovely that looks can’t wait till mine is in the ground!
I got about 18" of snow over last weekend, I live vicariously through your videos when winter lingers on
Can’t believe it has been 2 year since your family seen the property. Time flys.
i agree, its about time you showed the work
Thank you for mentioning about bringing up the basics. People tend to forget the small things whenever they’ve been doing something for a very long time. Anybody new at anything isn’t going to know the most basic steps without being educated first. It took me a very long time to just even learn the right soil and amendments for my raised beds.
Yeppers You all put some mighty effort into the last two years and the Lord has blessed the work of your hands mightily. 🙏♥️🙏
Your place is so lovely. Thank you for sharing it.
Gardens definitely pull you deeper and deeper in. 🌱🫶🏻🙏🏻 Keep
Growing Hun. Sending Love, prayers and blessings.
Light colored Hokas in the garden, girl you are brave!
I’ve been trying to make like videos and I’m stuck here obsessed over the way I look making sure no strand of hair is out of place making sure my clothes look good. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for your inspiration I hope you get to read this during a moment of peace🌿💛 blessings🥰
And may I add you look absolutely lovely handling that shovel😍😇
I actually won't watch videos where the woman's hair is perfect, makeup and fancy nails. I don't connect with her and doesn't understand my life. Maybe I'm just not their target audience and that's okay. So define your target audience and go for it.

I'm so excited for you all and to see how your farm grows and blossoms 1 plant at a time 💞💞💞🥰🤗
Wow, you have accomplished so so much.😮😊❤❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. I know patience is a virtue but I'm very impatient. Good job all of you!
I say you have a beautiful place!! It's a place for healing the eyes and heart. A place to be inspired! I've wanted to do some kind of flagstone paths especially out by the fire pit!
I love the chicken in the background announcing the egg she just laid
Good luck with your future and dreams. Can't wait to see them unfold
I hear the wind chimes, sounds beautiful
I personally love this because I'm stuck working tickets at a desk and I'd rather be outside. This helps me "be outside with you" in spirit.
It’s so fun watching a plan come together. Whether it is our own or others, it’s always encouraging. We got our dream property a couple years ago and I had zero gardening experience. Nashville native here! Love The Opryland Hotel story! ❤
Bless you Jess !
I am astounded at how clean you managed to stay in that yellow top while digging in the dirt! I would have been absolutely covered! LOLz
So nice to see the fountain finally ready for you. 👌 Hardly can wait a drone overpass to see the before than the progress. 🤩💓💗🥰
Jess!!!! you look so Buff 😎💪💪😎. Your always amazing. Your a beautiful soul ❤️

Your garden is coming along really well. It's beautiful, thank you for a great video
Evertime I watch, I remember that not long ago there was nothing on this land. I’m in awe of the progress you have made. The greenhouse is such a great space. Good work Miah and Jess!
Hi pretty lady. How are you doing today? And how is the weather over there and that of your family?
You look amazing! Zero inflammation!
I started carnivore after your video about changing your diet. It’s definitely helping with my information also.!!
Will is a wise man. I enjoy just watching without all the explanations at times.
Loved your outfit in the garden Jess!!
I love his stories🤗
You have so much hard work & planning to be proud of, or maybe more gratified by. I’m proud of you. 😊

Wheelbarrow suggestion... Get one with TWO wheels. Makes hauling dirt, rocks, and well, everything, SO MUCH EASIER. 😉
Another great day on Roots and Refuge Farm! Blessings on your day Kiddo!🥰🌻🐛💕
You are such an encouragement. We bought our current home in mid-2019 with no plans for a garden. A quick tip that I found easier when trying to scoop soil from a pile is instead of using a shovel and scooping into a wheelbarrow I get a 5 gallon bucket and set it on the edge of the pile and scoop it directly into the bucket. It was easier on my back.

Just putting it out there that we’re ready for another shirt launch! 💕
A 5-year plan for the perennial garden is a beautiful thing.....so is setting us up for reasonable expectations, so thanks again, Jess!
I'm so envious of your weather... I'm under a foot of snow still in WA. I'm itchin to get back into the garden!!!
Just Beautiful ❤
Hi pretty lady. How are you doing today? And how is the weather over there and that of your family?
I can't wait to see how things turn out down the road. It is ao hard to believe it is going on 2 years. The stones being laid will be awesome when down.
You have pants on!!! So good to see you healing!!!
