Yes. I love the style and theme and how it’s a puzzle game with a great story but the puzzles are hard enough to make you think but easy enough that you can fly through it. Limbo is harder than inside but is still an amazing game
Jeppe Carlson cocoon is an interesting concept that I hope will bear fruit in the future similar to how limbo was the seed that sprouted inside. I hope cocoon is a literal cocoon for what will be another amazing game from Carlson.
Inside was one of those games I'll never forget. I did a replay today and got all of the secret orbs and special ending. I really love the way that the developers aren't obsessing over deadlines and timeframes. Just work in their own pace, and get things right. Honestly, I'm happy to wait another 5 years if it means having a game just as good as Inside again. I hope it's just as mysterios, and open ended, and leaving you with more questions than when you started.
Did you play Cocoon yet? It’s from Geometric Interactive who were founded in 2016 by the lead gameplay designer of LIMBO and INSIDE as well as the audio programmer. It not quite the same dark worlds. But it does have a certain playdead undertone with its mysterious world. Excellent game. Worth checking out if you, like myself, love playdead. I scored it a 10 FYI
You mentioned Jensen being “tired of the limitations of 2d” - hopefully they will implement the movement better than Somerville. That game felt like a 2d platformer that they added a third dimension to at the last minute and the movement was super awkward to me. Limitations aren’t always bad
You’re right, the movement is Somerville definitely wasn’t the games strong suit, but that game was made by Jumpship and not playdead. Jumpship was co founded by Dino Patti who also cofounded playdead but from my research he served more on the business aspect of things as the game executive producer on Limbo and Inside. Jensen on the other hand, who was the other founder of playdead was the director on Limbo and Inside. Seems like the playdead quality programming and vibe is a product that starts with Jensen.
@@VDGMS No I haven't yet! just because you have to pay (i used ps plus for inside) but I just wanted to say how amazing inside was, it truly is amazing its short but the story, camera angle, cinematic shots and even the gameplay is just breath-taking ahhh its my number 1 fav game genre I am soooo exited to see what they come up with next, will definitely play limbo, what one do you think is better?
I think Inside is better but Limbo is pretty special too and they have a lot of similarities. We actually did a video looking at all angles of both games including the meaning of both, which means spoilers. I recommend experiencing Limbo first for yourself but when you do, here’s this LIMBO vs INSIDE: What playdead game is better ua-cam.com/video/R4fZWVhv8P8/v-deo.html Just looked at Limbo has a free trial on PlayStation plus the whole game is free if you have PSPlus Premium, which it sounds like you do!
Thanks for the kind words. Since I’m a smaller channel, my videos don’t blow up right away. It can take a little while for the algorithm to pick it up. Just trying to do the best of my ability and the rest is out of my hands.
i don't know when the new game will be out BUT we can all notice how coherent this studio is with his name "Playdead". Literally playing as if they're dead for all these years with no leaks incidents. I love this. The next game is gonna bring tears out our eyes once again, can't be otherwise.
Awesome video! I am extremely excited, playdead is probably my favorite indie developer. One hope that I have is that the puzzles (assuming it follows the same formula) will be harder than inside.
Thanks! The transition to 3D will be interesting because it would appear to be harder to guide everyone down the same path so they all experience the story as you want them too. Assuming they game will follow the playdead formula of story being the primary. I agree the puzzles could be a little harder but it’s a fine line because making them to hard can break story immersion. Can’t wait either way. In the meantime Cocoon looks fun from the lead gameplay designer of Limbo and Inside who started his own studio. It’s due out spring 2023!
@@VDGMS I just checked out the trailer for cocoon! Dang I had no idea this was a thing, thanks for the info. Looks good! And puzzly, so it's right up my alley haha
It's my personal most anticipated. If the leaps they made from LIMBO to INSIDE are a clue into the next game's result, I think we are all in for another great and unique experience.
I've recently played both games, Limbo and Inside. Although I completed them within a weekend and want more, I am really glad they are not choosing to crunch their next game.
They are timeless. I wonder if the 2D art style has something to do with that. Wonder if 3D will make their 3rd game less timeless? Also if you want more. Check out Planet of Lana. Indie game coming out soon that gives playdead vibes
1:00 Playing Inside, I didn't feel as if it was a 2d world like Limbo because the background was 3d and visually stunning. It still felt like I was in a 3d world despite being very linear. I'm very sad to hear that the original people of Playdead have left the company though that's unfortunately the norm for very small independent game companies.
I think we can look at the glass have full and that talent has been spread across the industry even more. Somerville from Jumpship wasn’t amazing, but it showed potential for the studio. Cocoon from Geometric Interactive looks like Portal Meets Zelda and got rave reviews from the people who played it behind closed doors at Summer Game Fest. Finally, I think the main talent of playdead is Arnt Jensen who founded the company and is still there leading. Game 3 looks amazing and I have no reason to doubt it won’t be after Limbo and Inside. Thanks for checking out the video and having a chat
Time files for sure!!! Multiple people that left playdead after inside made their own game or had part in it. Somerville that came out last year had a few people and cocoon that’s coming out this year from geometric interactive. Yet what little we have seen and the transition to 3D, their new game still gives off playdead vibe so that’s great news. Can’t wait to learn more!
Games today seem unwilling or just simply uninterested in challenging the player. Playdead are able to do both story and gameplay and then some. Huge fan of the company.
Playdead: we working on game which biggest and best project ever Limbo: it will take 1 hour or 2 hours to complete game Inside: it will take 3 hours and 4 hours to complete game Next project: more than 5 hours Me: Inside is already masterpiece you talking a game which better than inside that will incredible
the studio deserve to be underground so that it's new project blows up once again....they are taking their time and my expectations are really high after plating INSIDE(played atleast 5 times)...How will they set the benchmark once again?
The only thing I'd want from Playdead is a game which you can play more than a couple of hours. I could finish Limbo and Inside pretty fast. Of course this would take more time to develop but no need to rush
Obviously, based on their two games so far, I’m beyond excited. I’m interested to see how they handle the pivot to 3D. In their other games they take you on pre determined paths so you see what they want you to. I have to assume it will be more of a guided 3D if they want to have the same powerful moments of the first two games the studio has become known for.
End of the day, it explains everything when the top 5 guys who basically, between them, were responsible for 90% of the talent and success of Inside ... are gone. And have been gone since the last 6 years. Obviously the concept artist remained - thats why the only thing "leaked" from game 3 is a handful of stills. I doubt the game will ever be released, I doubt it will be as close to the greatness that Inside achieved if it is released and I doubt you will see or hear anything about it beforehand because leaks would most certainly affect pre-orders and pre-orders is probably the only way Playdead will see the same financial success with their new game as they have the previous ones.
I am actually in the other camp that the main two people that founded the company were Arnt Jensen and Dino Patti but after seeing Somerville and all the interviews, it’s clear that the major visionary was Jensen who was the director of both Limbo and Inside.
