The wet belt fails on the 2.0 litre , Ford doing recalls. If it snaps Ford doing new engines. Also on this engine injector recall. Wet belts failing 100,000 mile short of change mileage. First sign of failure is extended cranking. Failed regenerations dumps diesel in the engine oil. Belts on 1.0 EcoBoost and Peugeot Citroen 1.2 engines failing. They lose rubber which gradually blocks oil pickups which causes low oil pressure and accelerated engine wear. All in all the " lifetime " fitment of wet belts make these cars a second hand nightmare and will lumber the owner with several hours of labour expense and a belt kit costing hundreds . A great leap backwards.

Hello, excuse my ignorance around this - I’ll admit I know nothing about it. But if I get the 2.0 issues such as the engine injector and wet belt replaced, should the issues be fixed, or will it keep happening? If replacements continue to be an issue, is it possible to replace them with different, more reliable model parts? Or do they have to be only 2016 Ford Transit Custom 2.0 TDCi? Thanks

@@yaturkeyneck7130 there is no guarantee. A customer had a new engine fitted as it had extended cranking and intermittent non start. It's doing it again and having a nightmare trying to get Ford to do something. His previous generation Transit basically rusted away and the engine was still going strong. He is looking at replacing his fleet of 10 or so Van's with VW's transporter with the 1.9 engine.

WARNING! Anyone attempting to change a tire on a 2010 Ford Transit
should be aware that the Owner's Guide contains inaccurate and
potentially dangerous information. This relating to the stowing of the
flat/spare tire. On page 190 the guide states "Lay the tire on the
ground with the valve stem facing up towards the vehicle." If you
follow these instructions you will find the tire will not seat firmly
against the car body. It just dangles loose. The hazard this poses is
incalculable but potentially fatal. The tire must be installed valve
stem down as this video clearly shows. That Ford engineers thought this
"Rube Goldberg" method of tire attachment appropriate simply defies
credulity. "Stupid Device" is how Roadside Guy refers to part of it. NB:
    Ford should copy how the Peugeot 505 Wagon accomplished the same task;
clever with simple and solid , nearly fool-proof engineering.

I was a big fan of the Transit having owned a 1984 van 30 years ago. Had a Mk7 in 2016 with history , but engine went after just 18 months of ownership, 8 years old with low mileage, A common problem apparently with the 2:2. I’ve heard that the later Transits have engine problems. I’ll stick to my old Vito.

They have crappy centrifugal oil pump and between 60 000- 100 000 miles engine die. No pressure. Upgrading 2.2 motor oil pump to older version save you big money.

You shouldn't need to replace the timing chain on the 2.2. It's reccomended that you should not follow the 25,000 mile service interval and you should change the engine oil more often.

These eco blue engines are dreadful. Just done an egr on one. The whole front end off. The t25 bolts that hold to egr cooler were siezed. Took me all morning to do it.
Adblue malfunction lights come on for fun.
This one the light is still on despite everything been reset and no codes showing up. Wet belts are prone to the teeth shredding. Especially when dpf regeneration is frequent. Best were the old 2.0 like a 2010 model

The boss bought a second hand one of these, (Been driving the older V7 and earlier models. Indestructible tanks that were often repaired with a hammer and tek screws.) and after getting used to automatic everything, front wheel drive, and a gazillion buttons and menu items, I now like the van. Pity the previous owner didn't mention that the front door latch sensors don't work, so if we unlock the van and don't at least turn the ignition to ACC for a few seconds, the van will auto lock and set off the alarm if any of the other doors are open. Too bad if the key is on the seat or in the ignition and the ignition is in the Off position, because we don't have a spare key on site. Damn thing self locks. Also, after decades of driving an auto vehicle, I hate that the non driver at Ford that programmed the Diver Information System seems to think that the hand brake should be off before putting the vehicle into Drive or Reverse, which is wrong as it is unsafe. Having the annoying beep beep and info pop up saying "Hand brake is engaged" is driving me up the wall.

Difficult to be sure with a remote diagnosis, but could be a blocked breather system, oil level far too high, or worn piston rings pressurising the crankcase.

      Hi Whynot096,
The Blue smoke first thing points towards the valve stem oil seals. Black smoke all day - injectors/pump out of calibration. More details can be found in the manual which can be purchased from haynes.com/en-gb/ford/transit-custom/2013-2017
