Noel deserves an award for his patience here
Yes terrible interview, I lost my patience. have a wonderful day 👍
But he likes it
"Do you use a computer to do it?"
I know, Noel explains why he wouldn't get his guitar out if someone asked him when he's out and gives an explanation why. Then he asks him pretty much the same question again that he's already answered.
Ah he loves talking about himself so I’m sure he doesn’t mind
Noel was right. He knows his videos. Liam is on the wall in Live Forever.
There's still quite an amount of chairs involved in the wonderwall video.
@@tempschlyeah never one on a wall mate 👍
‘If I had a gun’ is incidentally, the standout tune of Noel’s for me.
'Stay Young' for me ..There's a cracking young Noel singing this live.
His first solo album is great. It sounds way better with Liam AI vocals. You can find it on UA-cam
I've recently gotten more into that tune whereas before, although I didn't mind it, I didn't like it as much as I do now.
Agreed 👍 also loving We’re gonna get there in the end.
Easily his best solo song , better than 90% of oasis tunes too
I agree with Noel “ if I had a gun” is tremendous. Liam’s vocal made wonderwall
Not only the vocals. The chords are amazing, yet so simple. The intro is genius and carries you into the song. When you sit in a room with a few people and manage to pull the intro off, everyone starts smiling. It's something not many songs can achieve.
@@TarikA that’s true, I just remember on first listen being blown away by that vocal .
@@GraemeTyrrell. And so was Noel :)
Agree…
I don’t like Noel singing ‘Wonderwall’ but equally don’t like Liam singing ‘Don’t look back in anger’
“If I Had A Gun” was my first dance at my wedding day. It’s my favourite song he ever wrote.
Me to mate. 🙏 in 2013
Wonderful choice! Cheers!
We had If I had a gun too at our wedding mate 🕺
Bet she didn’t hang around for too long
@@pip208 well I’ve been married 10 years mate, so…..
I find it phenomenal how many interviews Noel seems to be doing these days. Hardly a day goes by when he doesn’t talk about writing Live Forever
Aha this made me giggle love it 😂😂
if I wrote Live Forever I'd talk about it every day as well.
Honestly, it must be a good source of dopamine. Spending a couple hours a week just talking about your past and getting asked all these questions. The most messaged person on a dating app, but multiply the validation by about 100, that’s probably how Noel feels getting interviewed.
@@AstroJenkinsHe certainly loves the sound of his own voice, yes.
@@BattleBecause That, too
I always love listening to Noel in conversation. He always tells it straight with the obvious humour
Liam is definitely sitting on the chair, on the wall in the Live forever video
definitely maybe?
This DJ is thick as well as arrogant! 🙄
Alone on a Rope, If I Had a Gun, Dying of the Light, Dead In the Water, Easy Now, Everybody's on the Run, Heat of the Moment, and so on. He's done amazing stuff for years. Noel is a legend! One of the best ever at what music he does make!
Absolutely an epic song book
What a tune eh?
The way Andy Goldstein is blown away that you can make music without being able to read it is brilliant. Those who know, know!
Liam's on the chair on the wall in Live Forever you Numpty not Wonderwall! @andygoldstein05 🤣
Looks like Andy's the one getting old 😂
Yeah, but he's also sitting in a chair in wonderwall too, lol.
@@matthewwalker5430 Not eight feet in the air though and against a wall. The interviewer clearly gets the two videos mixed up.
Pure genius, his songs touch souls
Legend.. From 90s onwards Oasis changed my way of life
You mean you started wearing parka’s and walking like you’d shit yourself?, yeah same here
That's pretty sad that a music group changed your way of life. No parents to guide you?
The best songs just happen to you. If a good song idea comes to you and you start overthinking it, then that "magical moment" is over. It's like a fleeting moment that you have to seize immediately
0:26 Johnny Marr described this as “turning daydreams into sound”. Which is the best description I have heard of this process. In The Peter Jackson Beatles documentary there is a 2 to 3 minute clip of McCartney strumming away while he waits for John Lennon. He literally writes the core of “Get Back” in that 3 minutes. Same thing. Unconscious out pouring of talent.
@nickc6882 Johnny Marr didn't turn much "daydreams into sound" when he was in Electronic, Johnny Marr & the healers, the Cribbs, nor Modest mouse.....!
I could listen to Noel for hours, great personality
This was a surprisingly cool and music centered conversation. Didn't expect that seeing the talksport mics in the thumbnail
He says he’s not into music videos but I love all his videos from high flying birds they are so sweet 😊
if i had a gun is absolutely beautiful...obsessed with it since the first time i heard it
'Be Here Now' and 'Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants' are still my two favourite Oasis Albums ❤...
Blimey
Timing probably.
Have you not heard the first two?
Agree on SOTSOG, I also think that's Oasis' best record with Heathen Chemistry in second. And the b-sides from that era are just unbelieveable, Let's all make believe, Carry us all, Full on etc. Can't stand Be Here Now though, the sound does nothing for me and the songs aren't particularly great.
Be Here Now I understand that but SOTSOG
7:30 I really feel like this shows how Noel has become more patient. He could have argued (rightly) that guy was wrong - but he just went "whatever". Meaning, I know you're wrong, but let's keep the conversation going.
Fantastic interview! Really , really good.
A. Like noel and liam. Because such massive stars will sit and explain in a very straightforward easy to understand way.
Both funny.witty.
Confidence and skill .
I loved this interview, it’s nice to see the songwriting progress of people like Noel who’s obviously an amazing writer. Side note, voice notes are my holy grail when it comes to writing songs. I could hum a melody into there and write some lyrics to it while on my acoustic.
Great interview.
I’m stealing the plane idea for my next video by the way ✈️🤟🏼😆
Subbed
This was a fun interview. It's like watching a super fan ask his idol a zillion questions that they've always wanted to ask - and barely leaving a moment to breathe!
As someone who writes my own songs, the line: “If it’s good, you’ll remember it.” is so damn true.
Talk tonight and Dont Go Away are probably my favourite song, the way Noel sing them acoustic is just something else for me
Sad song as well just pure class. Sad song war child version. Ace.
Noel is such a top man, that if he talked about paint drying, it would be funny, astute, meaningful and interesting to listen to.
Interviewer: "Noel, what's your take on watching paint dry?"
Noel Gallagher: Chuckles "You're having a laugh, right? Watching fucking paint dry is probably more exciting than listening to half the knobheads making music these days. Seriously, if that's your idea of a good time, you might as well sit in a corner and talk to a wall. But, you know, if it's a proper colour, like a deep Manchester red or something, I might give it a quick look. Just for the hell of it. Otherwise, it's a big 'fuck off' to the paint and the wall it's clinging to. Life's too short for boring shit, mate. You gotta live a bit, not stand around like a daft cunt watching colours dry. Stick on an Oasis album, have a beer, and stop wasting your bloody time with that nonsense. At the end of the day, that is it."
100% read that in Noel's voice 😂😂
The one song I would love Noel To perform live in concert would be The Girl With X Ray eyes an amazing song which slips under the radar .....
Liams voice is the reason Wonderwall is as big as it is. Different class.
Back in the 1990's i was to young to appreciate Oasis. Now that im in my late forties i have an untold respect and appreciation for Noel as a song writer, guitarist and musician.
Haha, I like this Noel with slightly longer hair, just pleasant and generally easy going. He loves Liam deep down. Come on Guys, get back together and bury the hatchet 🙂
He came back to his old haircut, that of the great days of Oasis 🤘
This man is a master of Melody.
Amazing how many artists would never have guessed what their biggest song would be
Big respect for now Noel G dealt with that bullshit
Unbelievable my man So bad
Possibly the best NG interview of all time boys
Noel is a legend
He's right about If I Had a Gun it's the best one on there I love it!
Noel reminds of my Irish Nan more as the years drift along, maybe its the hair? The tunes and memories still make me smile... WingNut & Bolt need to sort it out for our selfish sake 🧸🪆
It’s funny you say that, I was just looking at him thinking he looks a bit different even in the past year. There’s something softer looking about him. Maybe he’s out a little bit of weight on.
Yeah he gain weight.. He looks weird 😮
@@biblical1982he looks better with the weight gain, looks more like he did in the 90s and less haggered
Yeah, as a songwriter myself, it's infinitely easier to put lyrics to a chord structure / melody than the other way 'round.
Completely subjective
I would agree, but Manic Street Preachers for example, the lyrics always came first.
Give it a go and you might surprise yourself.
The audacity of telling Noel Gallagher that he doesn't know his own music videos 😂
whilst being completely wrong too!
I know, what a twat. Noel just gave up trying to correct him 😂
And Goldstein knows just as much about football as well! 😜
Well, Noel was high as a kite in his hey days so it's possible that he has no recollection of doing some of those videos
@@mozdaboz me thinks the tales of the rockstar lifestyle have been greatly exagerrated - besides, it was coke mostly which is likely to have the effect of making you sharper. The guy notoriously hates music videos, but he's going to remember the early ones that his entire career is based on. He did a running commentary track on most of them for 'the best of' Oasis. Let's see, he was running the band, signing off on all the artwork, writing the songs, recording and producing the songs, doing press interviews, playing gigs on international tours, buying houses, getting married, having kids, yet he was 'off his face on drugs' the entire time. It's possible, but unlikely. You don't run everything with demonstrable ambition and drive, without having some semblence as to what's going on...
Legend ✨✨
Andy Goldstein trying and failing miserably to correct Noel Gallagher on the Wonderwall music video... give me a break 😂
Talksport isn't renowned for it's dedication to fact😂
What a plumb
Supersonic, acquiesce, morning glory, stand by me, live forever, Wonderware. it just goes on and on.
what do you mean by shockwave?
@juancho94 oops that's Liam's song.
Liam on Wonderwall: what you writing Reggae songs for? 😂
To make us rich mate. 😂
If I had a gun is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever listened to. And the dying of the light also!
The acoustic version of Dying of the light that's on here. Can't recall if it's for BBC but I love that
"Can you play everything? Yeah, I'm having stapler lessons"
I relate to him a lot when he says "if it's good you will just remember it" then goes on to say "I had something good but didnt record it now I forgot it and its doing my head in" lol. But still there are a few riffs where its so good you actually do remember it - and that is when you know you got a winner.
Getting the hair just right for the reunion
Like somebody's Nan?
Again with the reunion!
It's never the same. It was all about the time and place.
The only way that they will get back together is if people stop talking about it.
Mid interview are you ok talking about this brilliant 👌👏👏👏
Noel knows his own videos - Liam sits on a wall in “Live Forever”.
This interviewer is clearly clueless about how most songwriters compose music.
Maybe so, but some do start with words/lyrics first while others start with the music/melody first like Noel.
That's why he's on talksport not talkmusic
True Star
Legend ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🎸
Brilliant show .. Music in Gentlemen
I love how humble Noel is.
He’s many things but humble is not one of them 🤣💀
@@biblical1694 I know, it was sarcasm.
Video concept is solid. Minus the Beatles cameo part 😂
“I’m not that thirsty.” 😂
He sounds like Chris Martin honestly so great love oasis
He's looking well - good on him,.
What makes me laugh is they’ve been asking Noel these same questions for 30 years and somehow they still seem surprised when Noel gives them the same answers lol
Yes, they should ask him his views on quantum physics and existentialism.
To be fair that video idea is brilliant
1:53 This made me laugh ~ his surprise that Noel can play drums. The best songwriters almost always can do everything competently. It’s a combination of being fluent in music and a way to over come the frustration of waiting for others, or having to explain to others, or hearing others not do it the way you imagined. It’s the manifestation of 20 years of “if you want it done properly, do it yourself.” McCartney, Prince, George Michael, Lenny Kravitz (I’m naming these as they are the ones where I have seen videos of them doing it all) all did it all so that they could create a complete song, in the rough, quickly.
most good musicians in general (good songwriters or not) are multi instrumentalists. i mean metallica’s rhythm guitarist is currently better at drums than their own drummer.
Dave Grohl
Liam vs Noel Noel vs Liam zip it kids it’s exhausting how that’s what comes to your minds when you watch clips like this you melts
Brilliant questions ones we all want to know
Definitely maybe was all mainly the best Oasis songs but the way WTSMG is put together is genius the song placements and style of the whole album is genius. Be Here Now though was all over the place.
Live forever is the song where Liam sits on a chair on a wall , not wonder wall , so Noel is right
That is actually a good Music video idea. I can visualise that playing out in my mind.
If I Had a Gun - my favourite song ever
This feels like a PhD taking charge of a nursery class 😂
I actually understand what Noel was saying about how "Wonderwall" doesn't sound like the big hits off "Definitely Maybe"
the canon of what he does aka a d c g
Could listen to Noel talk about anything
He was right it was Live Forever
Noel is a brilliant brainiac
"If I Had A Gun" is what I'm thinking the whole time I'm listening to the interviewer.
Noel's haircut is looking more like it used to. Maybe his old self is coming back as well.
Noel is right about the videos 😂
This guy should start a band
Mate Liam was sitting on a chair in the wall in the live forever video. Proper fanboy here
If I had a gun is one of his best songs
Legend 👌
Imagine having the nerve to tell Noel Gallagher he's wrong about his music videos, and being convinced you're right when he tells you he's wrong 🤦♂
Yes I play the scissors… And I’m having stapler lessons at the minute so….. 😂😂
Great Questions/Answers
If anyone is wondering....the host was wrong and Noel was correct. Liam does not sit on a chair on a wall, in Wonderwall. It's in the Live Forever video!
If I had a gun was our first dance song at our wedding.
Interesting comments Noel, I happen to think “If I had a gun” was the best track on that album. However “Dead to the world” is my favourite Noel track of all time
Noel is so unapolehetic about being driven mainly by how much money He can make, gotta love His honesty
Wow this guy.
Sure Noel cant read sheet music my friend but obviously still knows the names of the guitar chords 😂
The interviewer is clueless lol
They didnt play Live Forever in Gothenburg 2009. It surprise me.
Trying to tell Noel he was wrong about his own videos haha fuckin balls on this guy
Every song I write "usually" only takes an hour or two to write but I don't beat myself up about it as that's how Lennon and McCartney used to do it 🙂
The interviewers faces when they're trying hard to look interested this whole interview. 🤣
The part we all came here for starts at 6:53, guys. So you don't have to sit through seven minutes of this guy's moronic questions...
Liams voice made them all massive. Fact,
How do you explain the songs noel sung?
It's the perfect example of neither would of got anywhere without each other. You could not have had Noel singing Rock n roll star or live forever on DM. Liam could also not have written them, he wasn't interested in that side. Liam's front man ability and Noel's songs got them where they were. Partly why they broke up Noel got more comfortable in the singing/front man side of things.
Average fans like Don’t Look Back in Anger more than any Oasis song, so that can be argued.
@@MarlboroughBlenheim1 quite simple really. Liams singing made oasis, hence Noel only on bsides the first album. By the time Noel sang don’t look back in anger Oasis were huge. Liams singing took oasis songs somewhere that no one else could.
@@Jerid58 No yeah get that but that's a second album, you put Noel on any of DM singles and they don't get off the ground. Plus Noel had very little stage presence in the early years, said so himself. Liam's voice and swag got them noticed, but again nothing without Noel's songs to back it up. Both of them were crucial to the success.
What Noel isn't saying is that he knows his chords he can write them down and know when to play them, it's just the symbolic language of music he doesn't know which is normal for most rock guitarists. His writing process is standard too, they try to make it out like he's some kind of mega genius because he does it his way, but in fact, that's the way most people write. That's not to say I think Noel isn't a genius, he is and there's no denying it the proof is in the music, and that's what i love about music you can't really slag it off, if it's successful for a long time there is a reason, and that reason is it's f**king awesome. Also he makes out he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about in songs like halls, cannonballs, champagne and supernovas.. but he knows the literal, metaphorical and allegorical and symbolical meaning of it all... oh and the track when Liam Chair is glued to a wall is live forever.. it's all BIBLICAL!! 🤣
Can you watch the full interview ?
Noel on a podcast every day of the week now?
