@Chuck B Firstly women can be misogynists too. I'm slightly confused as to what you mean. Is your issue with the idea of equality between the sexes or with the movement itself?
@Chuck B sorry yeah you're right I should have phrased that as equal opportunity which is I assumesomethingyou agree with. On the other stuff I agree with you in part, there are issues with focus in some instances and the issues are actually addressed to some extent mainly by feminist. In fact in my experience it is rare to see someone who isn't a feminist bring it up outside of arguing that feminism is bad. I don't think feminism hates what makes people feminine or that it aims to devalue the role of the housewife or stay at home mother. In my experience feminism is generally about allowing women to choose what they want to do, without them being a woman impacting on that. If a woman wants to be feminine I would argue feminism is wholly behind that and it seems to me the same is true for being a housewife. It is true that there are certain members of the community who are problematic but more often than not there are countless others who dispute that and truly stand for what feminism purports to be. Of course what is seen is often the bad as it makes for a significantly better story.
@Chuck B all that said we appear to have strayed from the original point. My fault I think but nonetheless the point I was trying to build up to was that if someone believes a certain group opinion should be oppressed (misogynists for example) then it falls to anyone who does not believe that to attempt to dispute that in order to prevent it. A way to do this might be using a phrase such as "say it again for the misogynists in the back" for emphasis although in this situation the comment was light hearted and no one was actually trying to make a significant statement about feminism in general but I digress. Essentially I don't believe that shouting something or attempting to put emphasis on something is forcing an opinion on anyone, it is simply attempting to ensure that the opinion is heard and then hopefully that opinion can be changed through reasonable, logical discussion.

The girl whose picture is on barbie's nightstand is actually her sister, Stacy!! Plus the girl with the purple streak in her hair is Skipper, her other sister.
If you have the opportunity, there's a series on Netflix called "The Toys That Made Us" that has an episode involving Barbie. It's very eye opening as to why she has had as many careers as she has and how she has developed over the last 60-odd years. I can remember the "We girls can do anything" campaign from the 80s, so the idea of girl powers isn't really a new invention. It has definitely improved over the last 40-odd years as society has developed and changed.
I’m so with you on the word bossy. I remember being called bossy all my life for simply being confident and a good leader and it bothered me so much and it still does
I was labeled as "bossy" my whole life. And now I struggle to talk louder, rise above the crowd even when I feel confident (and I do, like most of the time) and I can answer questions and I know what I'm doing.. but it feels weird. Like someone's going to tell me Shut up, that was worthless and stupid. And I know it's not?
This video literally made me cry. I am so happy that the little girls are now growing with these role models. That they don't have to live up to the stupid expectations and stereotypes of what being a girl means. My heart is happy to see them confident that they will achieve anything they want in life
One of my favorite things she has said that I ran into is the need for women to always apologize. For ex. someone runs into you/ knocks against you and you. instantly, out of reflex say "sorry". She highlighted how we should try to take sorry out of our vocabulary and turn it into gratitude ex. instead of saying "so sorry I am so late", you can say "thank you so much for waiting"etc It was actually pretty empowering.❣
wow I've never watched barbie's video but she's such an icon. I'm japansese and Japan is very much behind with gender equalities so your video made me think about a lot of things I've never realised. I understand English and that gives me opportunities to think about gender through these kind of videos. I hope my friends see this video and think about the current situation in Japan. this video means a lot to me... thank you eve ❤️
Omg I'm not even kidding I watched that Julia Gillard speech 2 months ago and I think it's the most iconic thing I've ever heard ... I nearly dropped my drink when I heard you miming to it
I love that they’re try and incorporate topics that are so key in society. It seems like they’ve done some research and have made an authentic approach to target gender stereotypes (whilst obviously hoping their sales increase as a side hussle.) The next thing to see which would make those videos even more inclusive is having some more diverse friends of Barbie. Like friends from either different social backgrounds or ethnicities. Then drawing in on those friends and how children as young as 5 can start supporting their peers who are being oppressed. Loving the direction they took with Barbie, really took me by surprise. Ofc loved the video as always x
this was fantastic and i love it - your reactions, and also acknowledging the company trying to be progressive for sales, but also that their content does have some good messaging especially for mental health. they're not perfect by far, but steps in the right direction
powerful video, I never really grew up around traditional barbies, but from what I remember the movies stuck with me as having a good message (such as princess and the pauper "all through the day they're just one way you must behave" as part of song lyrics, etc & the 12 dancing princesses, which went up against being prim and proper.)
Y'all, I'm literally writing an essay on Barbie as we speak. This was so helpful and, quite frankly, fascinating. I finally have a little motivation to finish this EPQ! Thank youuu ❤️
yo i’ve been feeling so depressed today like nothing at all made me feel any joy and then i clicked this video and i found myself laughing out loud and not thinking all my dark thoughts. thank you for that, this was amazing🤍
My personal favourite is the sorry reflex video! It's something I've constantly struggled with because I felt like it was polite but it was just me feeling like I was imposing when I was NOT. Also feeling like I had to feel bad and put myself down when it's so unnecessary. It's actually made me more aware of it and do it less and only use it appropriately :)
I don't know if you know (you probably do) but recently they changed barbie completely now the doll comes in all shapes and sizes and includes different ethnicities. It's pretty cool I wish I had those kinds of barbies growing up. Loved the video
When she signs off at the end of the video with “peace” it actually stands for “Positive attitude changes everything” (PACE) 😄 she explains it in one of her videos haha
I remember being called bossy by my teacher in 3rd grade - I didn't quite understand the implication back then and had taken it as a compliment. Looking back, I'm glad I had.
How else is loving Eve’s eyebrows. Also I’m sat here drinking iced coffee and Eve and Barbie all in one. Triple threeat! Love you so much Eve you inspire me and I love your law videos xxxx
Wow, I didn't know that these existed! Barbie's always been a really important role model for me as a kid, and I'm so happy the brand is still evolving. It's really interesting to watch Barbie's evolution throughout the years, she really reflects important moments of our history and popular culture.
On mental health in schools I'm sad to say it's somehow getting even worse. At least in my school it is they've gone from not telling us anything, to telling us horridly incorrect or even dangerous information and advice. Telling us if we're depressed that we're making it up or just need to exercise and that medications don't fix anything. Telling us that mental illnesses never stem from abuse or biology and that they're always our own weakness. Prior to the quarantine we even had a mandatory lesson where we were told we weren't allowed to grieve loved ones deaths because we would 'infect' the other students with depression. We had weekly mandatory, highly triggering lessons that served only to make people with mental illness the butt of the joke, and to spread misinformation. As someone with a history of suicidal tendencies, seeing them treat such a heavy topic as though our suffering was a joke, it was a nightmare. Had the quarantine not happened I'm scared how far they would have gone with the lessons, and how much misinformation would have been spread by the educators we are supposed to trust to tell us the truth. We were told if we had ever taken any medication for any reason, that we didn't deserve to have anyone around us and were better off dead, as though advil carried the same weight as heroin, as though an addiction completely removed our worth as people. The school system has somehow managed to take mental health too seriously and not seriously enough at the same time.
American Girl dolls were my jam, but they were also really expensive. Even most rich kids couldn't afford more than three over the course of their childhoods. But I really loved having a massive pile of barbies doll in a giant bin. They were really good for telling stories with. Good fodder for any girl looking to one day become a novelist or a screenwriter, which I am.

Watch the : barbie “sorry” video. Omg changed my life. Never thought barbie would open my eyes
absolute queen. iconic content
ty so much Kate !!
Eve: the people that watch this are 5-10 years old
Also eve: is watching this
Me: sips iced coffee
Eve: “you’re probably sat at home drinking iced coffee anyways”
Me: that is infallible logic i must buy the cup now
Okay we been knew that Barbie was a feminist icon but YES SPEAK THE TRUTH QUEEN
Eve taking a sip of espresso and then almost spitting it out as she shouts "KEN" is me 24/7 as 2000s nostalgia hits me
Did you Ken is short for Kenneth?
Nothing is worse than trying to study with guys who need a male translator to agree with what you said
The girl whose picture is on barbie's nightstand is actually her sister, Stacy!! Plus the girl with the purple streak in her hair is Skipper, her other sister.
me: having a really boring day
eve (posts): NO YOU'RE NOT
If you have the opportunity, there's a series on Netflix called "The Toys That Made Us" that has an episode involving Barbie.
Why did I think Abby lee Miller was speaking at first instead of Julia Gillard. Lockdown has got me thinking Abby is Australian.
LMFAOOOOOOO
the only thing i ever took away from dance moms was DR HOOOOLLYYY WAS THATTTT BITCHHHHHH!!!!! she did slay continuously
i can’t be the only one that recited julia gillard’s speech from memory
I’m so with you on the word bossy. I remember being called bossy all my life for simply being confident and a good leader and it bothered me so much and it still does
honestly i watch barbie vlogs as a 23 yr old because they're just some nice feel good content
“Like Zoella but much more diverse” I Screamed 🤣😅😭
Eve contemplating "you can't have the spring without the winter" like it doesn't make sense when her shirt says "no flowers without rain" 💀💀
15:21
Eve: 'am I broken?'
Barbie: '...yeah- Okay so ...'
“Am I dead inside ? Why didn’t it make me laugh? “
So iconic 😂😂
*tries to laugh and fails* - “Am I dead inside?”. That made me laugh!
Afonso Mascarenhas same lmaooo
THIS IS THE BEST AND MOST QUALITY INTRO IVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE (and ive seen alot)
And I know it's not?
this lil aussie was so confused/pleasantly surprised when you started the video with Julia Gillard hahahah
“You can’t have the spring without the winter” meanwhile your shirt said “no rain no flowers” 😊💕
That intro was so well edited! Loved it
90 seconds in and OMGGG the speech, bea miller's song, the facts... this video is already epic!!
This video literally made me cry. I am so happy that the little girls are now growing with these role models. That they don't have to live up to the stupid expectations and stereotypes of what being a girl means. My heart is happy to see them confident that they will achieve anything they want in life
15:22
Eve: am i broken?
Barbie: yeahh
I hope my friends see this video and think about the current situation in Japan. this video means a lot to me... thank you eve ❤️
eve.. YOUR HAIR WHAT A LOOK ?!!??!
You uploading this video and Netflix releasing Michelle Obama’s documentary is the best timing ever
"So what's up with that?!"
sis SNAPPED with that pink hair we love it
Imagine in primary a boy spat in my face and my teacher said served me right for being a know all! Sis I was 6 and smart 😔
that is horrible oml. even if you were a know it all, you didn't deserve to get spit on
this was fantastic and i love it - your reactions, and also acknowledging the company trying to be progressive for sales, but also that their content does have some good messaging especially for mental health. they're not perfect by far, but steps in the right direction
powerful video, I never really grew up around traditional barbies, but from what I remember the movies stuck with me as having a good message (such as princess and the pauper "all through the day they're just one way you must behave" as part of song lyrics, etc & the 12 dancing princesses, which went up against being prim and proper.)
Y'all, I'm literally writing an essay on Barbie as we speak. This was so helpful and, quite frankly, fascinating. I finally have a little motivation to finish this EPQ! Thank youuu ❤️
Why are your videos so well made???
The title......... iconic ...... honestly your ideas are just amazing 🤩
yo i’ve been feeling so depressed today like nothing at all made me feel any joy and then i clicked this video and i found myself laughing out loud and not thinking all my dark thoughts. thank you for that, this was amazing🤍
omg ive never been this early, we stan an icon
My personal favourite is the sorry reflex video! It's something I've constantly struggled with because I felt like it was polite but it was just me feeling like I was imposing when I was NOT. Also feeling like I had to feel bad and put myself down when it's so unnecessary. It's actually made me more aware of it and do it less and only use it appropriately :)
“Am I broken..?”
“Yeah, ok!”
I actually love Barbie Vlogs! They’re so wholesome and inspiring 💗
I am HERE for the pink hair!!! yess EVE xx
Using such a beloved childhood character to teach valuable lessons is such a powermove💯
Someone alert Michera Tewers!
Lozza Doodle Micarah* and yes I agree 😂
yesss bahhahaha 😂🙈
I don't know if you know (you probably do) but recently they changed barbie completely now the doll comes in all shapes and sizes and includes different ethnicities. It's pretty cool I wish I had those kinds of barbies growing up.
Loved the video
When she signs off at the end of the video with “peace” it actually stands for “Positive attitude changes everything” (PACE) 😄 she explains it in one of her videos haha
Iconic video and I’m so glad I’ve managed to cop a cup this time, excited 😊
I remember being called bossy by my teacher in 3rd grade - I didn't quite understand the implication back then and had taken it as a compliment. Looking back, I'm glad I had.
actually love eve so much omg you queen
Eve really is getting us through quarantine with this A+ content 😤👏🏻
How else is loving Eve’s eyebrows. Also I’m sat here drinking iced coffee and Eve and Barbie all in one. Triple threeat! Love you so much Eve you inspire me and I love your law videos xxxx
Wow, I didn't know that these existed! Barbie's always been a really important role model for me as a kid, and I'm so happy the brand is still evolving. It's really interesting to watch Barbie's evolution throughout the years, she really reflects important moments of our history and popular culture.
Your films are the best binge-watching I ever did!
I love this only eve would make this content and we needed it
I’m a new subscriber and I’ve never been so trilled to be subscribed to someone your videos are a bop beginning to end
Totally relate to girls in school being called bossy while confident guys were labeled as "future leaders"...
I love this video! I never expected barbie to be such an icon!
The intro is literally my morning routine
PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS OF THIS KIND BECAUSE GIRL I'M BOUT TO PRESENT THIS IN MY POLITICS CLASS (after this quarantine of course)
when ur binging barbie vlogs for a whole night and then suddenly remember she's not a real person and feel strange about being so invested in her life
Love love love this video Eve! Defo found the word ‘Bossy’ triggering too, even at uni!
Good fodder for any girl looking to one day become a novelist or a screenwriter, which I am.
watching Eve Cornwell’s videos is my laughing meditation
Brooooooo i liveeeeee for these intros😭you can clearly see how much hard work you put into them and sis ... it pays off. Keep popping🤪
"you can't have the spring without the winter" = eve in her "no rain, no flowers" shirt. we love connecting the dots
This is honestly a wonderfully in-depth, well-'curated' and organized video. It's like a video essay meets a term paper meets an IG story. Quality work!
The last time i was this early 1D was still together
barbie movies are iconic, example - diamond castle - two queens that do not need twins for romance and go off on a rainbow bridge
also your hair looks incredible I am going thru 🥴emotions🥴
