Dave thanks for interviewing one of my favorite riders, and let me say that, what makes me a fan of Jeff's riding,is yes today races, his riding skill alone,he got the gift,he makes it not just look easy but he's one of the few, like Wardy, who rides with just a perfect position on the bike,so little movement its just incredible to watch those types of riders,Lechine, their a few other but not many that have the bike control like Jeff, had, regardless of how he got it,he was always mesmerizing to watch...that kind of flow, anyone who rides nos how hard it is to not let the bike move you around.
Enjoyed hearing your story Jeff....and how your Dad was a Father when you needed it and how you are spiritual in your outlook. Got out at the right time.
I remember the havasu incident, Jeff you handled it like a man. I remember you winning the us open i was really happy for you !! I remember your dad your brother and Paige and your mechanic his brother and there dad in reiche canyon you guys had a lot of fun i really miss all that good times many thanks
I had a poster of emig , head over the front fender, shoulders sqaure, in the attack positio, feet on the pegs, horizontal on a wall coming out of a berm. GREATEST EMIG PIC.
Always a fan of Jeff's I was at Red Bud when he won his first overall. It was his championship year, and I saw the stuttering firsthand in his podium speech there. What a transformation. Well done Jeff! And great for you owning the Bad stuff as well as the good!
1990's were tops for Supercross! Sure the 70's 80's were good too in their own right but something about the 90's; the modern suspensions, water cooling, the moto gear they were wearing, and the last races running two-strokes I can smell the Castrol oil now as I type this out...:) Fond memories...
I smoked a blunt with Stevie raw von behind the Texas club in Baton Rough! In 1996 I think that was the year lol my favorite thing I’ve ever seen Jeff Emig do was when he acted like Elvis with Doug Henry. Plus awesome that he won the 1997 Supercross Season although I was more for McGrath or Windham but great achievement.
Whatever dude, Yamaha got him back on the winning track. It was a good bike back then. I remember those days well. Honda lost it's edge when they went to the aluminum frame!
I think over coming his speech impediment and becoming a announcer for a while is just as impressive as him being top dog in MX/SX at his best. Sports based on the individual, they make you a champion in life too, for as long as the individual has the freedom to do so.
The more I watch Emig, the more I like him. The 90's were the best time for MX. The personalities, the parties, the edgy attitudes. I still love the sport, but it's corporate boredom nowadays when it comes to the riders.
An amazing man! Great as a racer and athlete. Great TV personality with a deep knowledge of riders from all over the world. I'm straight as an arrow but even I can see that this guy has brain, karisma and good looks beyond normal.
Leave it to Cameron Steele to bring up the beginning of the degradation of MX, "Crusty Demons Of Dirt", (which I still have of VHS but no player). Come on folks.---we have values to uphold! :)
The end of this vid talks about Mike Goodwin murdering Mickey Thompson and his wife Trudy. In 2007. I actually found the daughter of Mickey Thompson's phone number on the internet, and called her to congratulate her on the closing of her parents death. From what I understand, Goodwin knew how much Mickey Thompson adored his wife Trudy, so he instructed the hit men to kill Trudy first, and make Mickey watch. It is a damn shame that SX was started by a man with such violent and morbid capability.
Clark Nawrocki you are obviously delusional to think Emig was EVER better then Carmichael. Two diff era’s for one.Emig was going out when Carmichael was coming in.Better then Carmichael lmfao he was good but no where near not even the same ball park.God Id love to hear some more bat shit crazy assumptions of yours you prob got a lot more huh?

Smooth1002 it goes by quick doesn’t it
Smooth1002 I wore High Point and Malcom Smith boots, Bell motto 3 helmet and JT pants so, I remember THE DAYS
I had a poster of emig , head over the front fender, shoulders sqaure, in the attack positio, feet on the pegs, horizontal on a wall coming out of a berm. GREATEST EMIG PIC.
Cool dude and Despain always a Pro. Thanks

What a cool interview, I like Emig even more now than ever. I always liked him, MC was my #1 but I never disliked Emig. Very cool story.
such a great interview, Emig is one of the greatest racers ever! We're so luck to have him calling the shots. Thank you Jeff Emig.

When I was a kid anybody who rode a dirt bike had that Rock and Roll attitude.
Great share, I hated Emig in those days because he started to beat McGrath but total respect for him as I got older!
He only had one good year.
Maybe, but it was against Jeremy McGrath.
Fred Garvin McGrath killed his own career by starting his own support team and switching to those terrible Suzuki and Yamaha bikes.
KING TROLL You're right, that was the beginning of the end for McGrath. He was only able to win three more SX championships on those crappy Yamahas.
Whatever dude, Yamaha got him back on the winning track. It was a good bike back then. I remember those days well. Honda lost it's edge when they went to the aluminum frame!
You rule fro ! Only guy to take down Jeremy in his prime !

Yes I definitely think Jeff could have won in this modern era

You could add paranoia to that as well.
What kind of nut job gets someone’s phone # off the internet then calls her up to talk about her fathers murder.F/Weirdo!
GFYS
I was kinda thinking that too.
"We spawned the minibike revolution in my back yard during a BBQ?" In the 90's??
Sorry Jeff, I'm not going to give you credit for that one LOL!
Eric On YT deegan went to California with him after he graduated high school
Fro! For pres.
Look how they did James Stewart smh they ban drugs but promote energy drinks lol
you know? I don't know Jeff.
emig was better than Carmichael on 250s but he broke his back and then it's over
Clark Nawrocki you are obviously delusional to think Emig was EVER better then Carmichael. Two diff era’s for one.Emig was going out when Carmichael was coming in.Better then Carmichael lmfao he was good but no where near not even the same ball park.God Id love to hear some more bat shit crazy assumptions of yours you prob got a lot more huh?
