I am returning to tennis. I like your explanation of foot angle and how it affects body rotation. You fixed my backhand! Just like you said, little things can hurt your strokes! Thank you!
great tip on placing the front feet at a 45 degree angle instead of parallel to the baseline... great tip for those teaching and noticing this in students!
Excellent demonstration. Nice explanation of the grip, and good emphasis on the importance of not locking the hip by taking the forward step to the ball with the foot turned sideways instead of 45 degrees. Well done.
Thank you for awesome videos. Please make a video for backhand slice and especially how to keep the wrist-raquet angle 90*. Nobody explains how to keep the wrist firm naturally. Thank you! :)
Thank you for video..one quick question..on the two handed backhand you are at least in part going across your body..sort of diagonal swing...for me this tends to impart sidespin with topspin.and I am so much better hitting backhand crosscourt...When Im hitting and want to hit straight or even up the line...it is so difficult to get true topspin and directional control while my forehand I can comfortably hit most places on court...similar to topspin vs kick serve...can you impart legit straight topspin with two handed backhand? Thanks again
Thank you for the video! Could you kindly explain on how to initiate the racket drop? I believe the racket forward movement and drop are one seamless motion and not two separate parts? None of the instructional videos i've seen on YT, seem to explain that. Do you get the racket to drop, by pulling with the bottom hand?
Thanks for the video! I do struggle a bit maintaining my arma straight. Where do you think this could come from? Wrong distance with the ball? Thank you!
Hi im a right handed player and facing problem with two handed backhand and also not accurate with single handed backhand suggest some drills to get a better backhand
thanks for the reply! i'm thinking of switching a single hand to double hand, although it's a lot of work, my backhand is just a major weakness so i opt for slice a lot compared to my forehand - if i were to switch, should i start with getting my left arm stronger (e.g. some high grip left handed forehand ?) or is there a better way?
You should be using more of your legs, core & shoulders for power; whereas the arms should be like 10% of the effort. The non-dominant hand just guides the racquet into the ball.
Hi. Some acceleration comes from the hips rotation (is good to have a controlled amount there - see Murray how he pays now for using too much the hips). Most power will come from the proper footwork and legs usage and definitely from the lefthand while pushing forward on the point of impact!
Ok video. But where is info on how tight to hold the racquet? Which hand dominates? Whether to follow through straight to net or over shoulder and why? Some people say ball should be hit with more open stance and why you believe 45 degrees is better? Does the racket have to be slightly turned down as Djokovic does to prevent it from flying out? So many unanswered questions. Long way to go compared to other videos out there.
Everything what works in tennis is good but I dont recommend this kind of two handed backhand. In your backhand left shoulder goes in front of right shoulder at the end of the stroke. By many coaches it is treated as an error. So called overrotation. It works for forehand but in backhand left shoulder should be behind right shoulder at the end.
Unlike every other comment, i don't like your BH or the BH of Murray (you mentioned him but i don't see any other pros hitting BHs like his). Both BHs are very left arm dominant. I prefer the Agassi BH, more right arm dominant, like a one-handed BH (almost every atp pro i see).
? That is the grip that every single player uses (at least 90% of them) I train every day next to top 200 in the world and they hit winners with that grip! Thanks for the comment!
@@ConnectingTennis hahaha you train the 200 top players i havent seen you on the tour anywhere. Well i can tell you neither nadal nor federer have that grip. Watch again then maybe you can train a real top 200.

Great coaching tips and video! Just a question, should you use your dominant or non-dominant hand more?
Thanks! Non-dominant guides the backhand. in my case the left hand!
at 6:43 why is the face of your racket facing 45 degree downwards?
Thanks for the video! I do struggle a bit maintaining my arma straight. Where do you think this could come from? Wrong distance with the ball? Thank you!
Hey! Yes, having a good adjustment (footwork) to the ball is key!
Really good video sad I only discover it now
Thanks!! that's good, great time to start!! :)

Hi Gaston, who do you mean by " Mari" ? one of the ATP pros?
Andy Murray
Hola!! Hablas españo?

is the off hand supposed to be the more dominant hand in the double hand backhand?
diddyac yes..the off hand (the one pushing from behind) is the one that has to do the follow through to be more dominant! Thanks

0.26 ..... i wish i had the bankaccount of Djokovic. :-))
Couple of your backhands you leaned forwards which also stops your rotation, due to setting up too far away from the ball.
You left out a space after the comma in your comment.

Where is the power come from if you right handed player?

You must be a blast at parties, dude.
It's an INTRODUCTION to the shot; not a complete and thorough dissection of everything related to the shot.
Just don't encourage to lean with the shoulder as it locks your body up.
Yes Ron
are you spanish?

You should have placed the camera on your front-left rather than front-right
You should have placed the camera in your FB picture at an angle 4.75 degrees more to the left than you did.

Cool. You like to use an inferior method. Go for it!
This is a very defensuce grip that you re teaching you cant hit winner points with this one.
