Wow what an amazing lesson. I really liked the way you broke down each step. It would be cool if you did this for other strokes too like forehand, slice, serve etc.
Loved the on court coaching style video. I think it helps me grasp the concepts better if I watch someone trying to learn it and seeing a coach break down the technique. Top of my wish list would be to watch you do a video teaching someone on how to improve their serve.
Wow! In an instant, his form became natural and cool. Plus, he had better spin and power. This is really great coaching! This video is also helpful to me. I recommend it!
Fantastic teaching and great progressions! I've watched a ton of video based teaching on the 2- hander, and this is the best I've seen. Can't wait to implement into my own game.
This was some of the most progression I've witnessed in real time. I am trying to make my own strokes more compact and efficient and this helped a lot. I have a two-handed backhand but play with a Pro Staff 97, and I definitely find that watching for the back of the ball through my racquet helped clean up my contacts.
Great video! However, it still requires a lot of work for Joe, as his last 2 shots at 14:07 and 14:12 went back to his old habit (right arm too much bent during takeback and more right arm dominant)
Hi. Love the video, specially the step by step instructions. I just started playing about a yr ago, can you do something like this for forehand? Thank u in advance
Great advice about thinking about the body as a whip and decelerating before arms accelerating! Just wondering why is it important to dip over the shoulder as mentioned in 11:32?
Hey guys! Love your videos! I just wanted to know if there was any chance you could do a 2 v 1 handed backhand comparison video and kind of tell us which is better.
Really good stuff! Wondering if you can do a "1hand backhand to 2 handed"? I have a good single handed, but recognize the superior 2 handed ability to change directions, and hitting inside out. My efforts feel like the top hand blocks my swing, no power either I'd love seeing the transformation of an actual GOOD one hander who can't yet do two hander, go to a powerful two handed, something that first hand demonstrates and documents the difficulties and solutions real time If so, Excellent and thanks
Like Nicolas says below, the LEFT arm should be dominant, the right is just really along for the ride....you have to stop trying to hit with the right hand/arm on the 2 hander, you are turning your whole body and rotating into the shot more..practice left handed forehands choking up (just drop the right hand)...
@@netman42CT I've tried this, but for one handers trying two switch, the lead arm blocks a good strike, is like to watch an actual transformation from a one hander to two
@@MrPerrisC The BH stroke can be broken to two components, the forward component (pace) and the wiper component (spin). For the OHB, your shoulder + body does most of the forward and your wrist + forearm do the wiper. To switch to a THB, for the first 1/3 to 1/2 of your stroke, your right arm + shoulder + body (ie forward component) stay the same. But the wiper component now is performed entirely by your left forearm and wrist. Since your left arm holding the top half of the handle, your right arm can no longer move freely as before, you will need to bend both arms at the elbow for the rest 1/2 of the stroke, and your racket would ends up behind your back pointing either to the back fence or down to the ground. THB should gives you more stability especially for over shoulder balls.
@@chubun6631 Excellent!!!..This is a terrific description and possible solution for me, thanks Chu, shadow swinging so far, it helps, I'll see if I can get there next few times on court, as I said, I have an admirable one hander, getting to the same level will be a process For the transformation to be most effective, having a someone with an admirable one hander but has difficulties switching. Someone with a good one hander actually undergo the transformation would be an important facility, I haven't found that yet, I do see tutorials, but not with a good one hander who wants to switch but cant
@@MrPerrisC I am an OHB all the way. I learned THB so I can teach my kid and get fairly good with it. I've seen players with a combi stroke (eg Wanna Be Pro @tennis troll) where they start out THB then release the left arm halfway and finish like a OHB. You may want to give it a try.
Great job on this video I think it serves as a reminder for those who has a backhand but makes it even better. Hey I been admiring your back drop until I realize that's a real view where the heck is that Colorado?
Great video guys....can I ask what video analysis app are you guys using these days? I used to use coach's eye but it barely runs anymore since it's not being updated. Thxs!
I'm happy you did mention the fact that on these last balls from the baseline he started overpowering, which messed up the technique. Because on the before and after clip you can clearly see his rackethead wasn't dropping anymore right before contact. Which he indeed was doing when you where rallying mini court. Good transformation though, he made great progression.
hi, please give me some advice....i got problem with slow ball. it not easy to me to hit it with a shot. i hit it like just a return with slow ball too. and my forehand and backhand is not stable. its depends with how ball come to me. and slow ball always make me confuse to hit it.
Fantastic guys, i hope to be able to get the kids to watch (9&11) although they need to crack all of super mario tricks to complete their games first! What is it with kids nowadays ...the tennis courts have no kids and the cricket green (i'm in the UK) at the local park which has an atroturf strip (it's stunningly pictureque) is empty. We need a miracle to get kids playing sports ...especially those disadvantaged post covid as it's set them back further.
Good progression in transforming his 2 handed backhand. But I would have thought that most 4.0 players can hit backhands cross court unlike the 3.0 or 3.5 players.
Good lesson and god progressions. I got something from it! But your student still has too much lefty baseball swing in his stroke. It’s ingrained and will take a bunch of effort on his part to correct.
The left arm is key to a (righty) 2HBH. When I switched to playing lefty, I realized how crucial the top arm is as my lefty 2HBH got pretty good after only a couple of weeks thanks to being right-handed all my life.
The guy started off playing baseball, and he finished playing baseball. The instructions were great, but nothing really changed at the end. He's pulling the racquet like he's hitting a baseball.
10 minutes in and this ranks in the top as the best tennis-related 10 minutes I've spent on UA-cam. Outstanding content.
Must haven’t seen many tennis vids. Average teaching at best

Holy hell, this may be the best explanation of a 2HBH ever! Well done coach!!

The best 2 handed BH VIDEO ever. Second best is light years behind. Well done coach/ just brilliant!

Watching you teach someone works well imo, we can all pick out things we need to work on.

Best coach I ever seen, How He Teach step by step and easy to follow and practice..... Well done coach
Daytri, Dayday this is now the best two handed backhand “how to” I’ve ever see. I’ve got some work ahead of me! thanks so much.
This video fixed both me and my wife's backhands. She said this was one of the few tennis videos she's watched all the way through.
One of the best two handed backhand videos I came across
Guys, what an amazing job you did. For me this video is a real game changer
Really good stuff. The side-by-side of the 2 hbh at the end shows improved stroke.
yeah this is great format guys! very useful
I'm so proud of you Daytri and Dayday! I love seeing your tennis journey. Love Ms. V :)
Holy.... this is nothing but gold. Please for the love of god let tomorrow be sunny day.
Wow, at the 12 minute mark, Joel's racket was accelerating so much more. Love this channel
So many golden tips. You guys are really on another level, will keep sending my club members to your guys' content!
Dang. You’re a great coach! This is a skill more rare than being a top 100 player! Bravo guys!
This is fantastic… cant wait to try!
Joel seemed to be going back to the baseball swing at The End.
Great video
Agreed, really enjoyed and took out some key points, a superior method of instruction imo. Especially the spacing for me, many thanks.
Glad to see you guys back
Your videos help me more than anyone else's. Thank you so much!!

Yup, right back to his old swing.
crazy how you just go back to your old habits immediately once it goes full court full speed.
It happens to all of us and not just Joe. Otherwise we only need one or two lessons and be playing like pro.
the court have a beautiful location and spot.
Good visual instruction...thx

Thanks for this very informative content. Would appreciate more on all strokes. 👍
Yes, i like the coaching concept with another player. Here I can see his errors and then how to improve with your coaching.
Really great video guys.

How far should your hands be away from your body on the back hand at point of contact? Furthest would be like a baseball swing which seem wrong to me.
Is that racquet you have a 90sq in or 95?
Where is this? There are mountains behind
you feel Joel is improving with instructions.

Exactly my backhand problems
Decelerate your torso, and let the arm & racket be the whip 💡💡💡 applies to all strokes👍🏼🙏🏼
Looks like Joel did everything except dipping before going through the ball right?
Teach me!

right wrist down movement is missing.
“Roll over the top?”
More like “roll up the ball” and have the top of the racket go higher than the ball
What about a one handed backhand
Why does it say "ass" on the back fence????
advertisement to tell people to wipe their butts 😆
No one noticed the advertisement in the background that says ASS lol

Joel is swinging like a baseball bat. No bueno
To silly for me!!!!
So bored with essential tennis and videos of people doing it wrong.
That laugh is so irritating🤮🤮
good vid but the guy didn't drop the racket eventually )) it need Years of practice
