I played the Spyro 3 demo for literally dozens of hours. Just replaying those same levels over and over. I got really good at the skateboarding. It's still my favourite 3D platformer for the PS1, easily. It's the best Spyro game too, fite me. I dunno why people prefer spyro 1 and 2 so much. Those ones seem kinda unfocused to me compared to Spyro 3. Spyro 3 has more simplified goals, you're going after eggs and gems, that's it. Not like 5 different collectibles that all do different things and you need to collect them at different points in the game end keep backtracking and so on. Spyro 3 is just the best. And the demo of Spyro 3 was so good that I probably played it for more hours than I did most of the full PS1 games I had. It's just not the same there days without loads of gaming magazines and demo discs. I think there might still be a few physical magazines in existence. Maybe I should subscribe to them. I dunno. It's nice to have something to read and then keep re-reading over the years. I'd always go back and read loads of months and years old magazines.

Demos disappearing for most games is some kind of sick joke. I like the indie game demo thing Steam did a few months ago. I wish that was more of a thing.
There are a ton now, it's just harder for open world, for those they allow timed trials of full games in most cases on stuff like PS premium which is same price as demo discs back in day. Steam also lets you return things and is soon to have dedicated time trials.
I always loved Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time. It was the first ever video game my dad bought just for me and the game's visual appeal is amplified when you're just a four-year old and enjoy colorful cartoon-type stuff.
I really enjoy just vibing to your videos. Not fully understanding what you are saying or meaning. Just watching cool visuals and listening to chill sounds and enjoying your smooth, nice voice, it just makes me relax and happy. Love you, man. Keep doing whatever you do!

You being Adolf Nomura as well is like learning Neil Cicierega is both Mouth Moods and Ultimate Showdown guy. Thank you for making that album, it has huge Street Fighter III 3rd Strike vibes to me❤
Watching this video gave me such a visceral feeling of gross nostalgia. Meaning the only person who owned a PS1 when I was growing up was my grandfather and whenever we visited, they'd let us crowd around the upstairs TV and play PS1 instead of spending any time with our relatives. He owned a copy of Croc and a copy of Motor Toon Grand Prix 2. Those were the only ones the kids were allowed to play. I remember them being so weird and foreign to me because we only had Nintendo at our house and these games had almost a weird panic-inducing strangeness to them that was only made worse by the odd, rubbery controller sticks. I never actually understood why Croc was so hard to navigate and why moving him felt like learning how to walk all over again, until Thor said "tank controls". I didn't know what tank controls were back then, I'd never played a game with them. No wonder that game haunts my dreams.
Net Yaroze and demo discs were a godsend for tiny teenage me. That and the Platinum line of PSX games, bringing titles to a way more manageable 40 Dollarydoos each
Oh, that Demo Disc is safe in my collection of older PSX games! The way I got it I think was when my parents bought the console and the shop just gave the disc as a bonus. It also gave me a certain love for janky platform-games like Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time! Thank you for bringing some very fond memories back to me, love your work!
I was passed down this demo disc (& some PS Mag ones) when I was a kid by my uncle & the origins of this one was always mysterious to me since it wasn't in one of the magazine cases
Dude I’ve been loving your channel for years and jamming to Adolf Nomura for the last year with no clue it’s the same guy. Great vids, great jams. Thanks 🙏
Great video! I regret dumping my collection of PS1 demos from my childhood. I had so many, i played a lot of demos, probably more than full releases because we were poor, but it was a blast!
"I know at least one person who was scared of it as a kid" DUUUDE I WAS IN CONSTANT DREAD EVERYTIME I WENT TO THAT LEVEL SELECT SCREEN. This and the "dangerous area" music of Digimon World 3 always scared me even though there's nothing inherently scary about them. Thanks for unlocking one memory keep awesome mahman
6:57 bugs bunny falling into a box while also falling outside of it i get the feeling bugs is just always drawn onscreen even if an object is obscuring the camera, adding an extra layer of delicious crunchy jank.
Modern games don't put too much of a focus on demos because they don't want to call attention to the fact that the glitchy, broken, unfinished version is identical in every way to the one they shipped on launch day.
I had this as a kid, it just came with the console. (Still have it somewhere in a pile of old PSX games.) The CTR demo had three levels, the one you showed, and one for the two-player and four-player splitscreen modes respectively.
‘id really like it if this could reach a bit of a wider audience outside of my regular audience’ WELL mission successful, cause I had never heard of you before Coconuts was featured in my Bandcamp recommendations email!
23:27 "It's all very moooneeeey. And much like finance, I fucking suck at it. What am I, bitch? Some fuckin' rich kid? You think I own a car? You think my parents did? Fuck no! I took the fucking bus" That might be my favorite section of a THH video yet. It's the way he says it, it just kills me
I love how you have this knack of repeating words in succession that come around every so often in a lot of your vids. It really really do be what it do be and it do be good 😊
As someone who just bought a shitload of PlayStation UK magazine demo discs from eBay....ahhh, the memories! Funny though I was watching your Liminal spaces video today and thinking I really wanted a new video and more "Thor's cat" (Wilhelm?Wilhem?) then BANG! New video 🖤
4th grade 1996 our class always got to do whatever the final hour of Fridays, and this demo disk+ a new fangled ps1 (for that time) was an option for us. I remember some ridiculous live action reenactment educational trivia games we would sometimes play as a class.
Brooo, the demo disc menu soundtrack unlocked a memory I didn't know I had or even know where it came from. If you zone out the bugs bunny game actually looks pretty good.
cool music. im a first time watcher. when the namelists came up i almost skipped, but i was like, hmmm this music is cool. then you said you created the music. well done.
Holy shit I had that demo disk, my cousin gifted me his Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories and this demo disk was in the case too, scratched to hell but it still worked. The music for Destrega and the demo menu just unlocked some ancient memories.
I had the CD Interactive Sample Disc Vol. 9. Had some bangers like MGS, Spyro, Gran Turismo and Medievil. The envelope art was all roundy and purple and I remmeber that i tought it looked like an dreamcast controller (the dreamcast was already out when I got my playstation). I really liked it. Ansd, living on a third world country, It was the only original playstation disc I ever saw back them. Also, sad that granturismo 2 demo doesn't have music. It has some really great sound track! Probably the reason thats the racing game I played the most in my life, after mario kart. Also (2), north americans call football soc cer. And call a game that you carry a ball under you arm (thats basically rugby wearing armor) foottball...
I have a demo disc with nearly the same game line up, but totally different menu... But I miss these so much. I had to save my money for over year to buy my PlayStation as a kid (my parents didn't want us kids playing video games so wouldn't buy them or help us) and didn't even own a game for it for ages: I lived off rentals and demo discs for i don't even remember for how long.. so many memories.
OMG I had this exact demo disk as a kid! When not playing the games I would just listen to the 90s as hell menu theme, scrolling through the games every 10 seconds or so to prevent whatever was highlighted from auto-loading. 1:35 That's exactly how I got mine! Look it even had Danish listed as number 4!

Thanks 🙏
Thanks for unlocking my memories of the ps1 I had 1 of those demo disc's in the UK. Devil dice was actually pretty fun for some reason as kid
we also had a few of those demo discs... I remember a strange ball blattforming game
It's wild how many 3d platformers rare made
Oh my god, that music you played after the bugs bunny segment was amazing
Great video! I regret dumping my collection of PS1 demos from my childhood. I had so many, i played a lot of demos, probably more than full releases because we were poor, but it was a blast!
"I know at least one person who was scared of it as a kid"
DUUUDE I WAS IN CONSTANT DREAD EVERYTIME I WENT TO THAT LEVEL SELECT SCREEN.
This and the "dangerous area" music of Digimon World 3 always scared me even though there's nothing inherently scary about them.
Thanks for unlocking one memory keep awesome mahman
Jason Page made the Demo One music. He also made the Gran Turismo 1 menu music for PAL region. Its lit.
And other European demo discs on the PS1 and PS2. He has a Soundcloud, if you haven't heard his music.
@@sharpfalcon6196 Cool. Thanks for the recommendation.
6:57 bugs bunny falling into a box while also falling outside of it
i get the feeling bugs is just always drawn onscreen even if an object is obscuring the camera, adding an extra layer of delicious crunchy jank.
Yay, Thor uploaded 🎉
Good start to my Monday Morning. 🤙🏽
Luv from DownUnda broski! 🇦🇺💙❄️🤜🏽🤛🏼
You probably don't even know what his middle name is. Or what his address is. Or when his mother goes to work
Modern games don't put too much of a focus on demos because they don't want to call attention to the fact that the glitchy, broken, unfinished version is identical in every way to the one they shipped on launch day.
I love that I could hear the reversed amen break before that sick ass shorgazey jungly bit. Great tune.
I love your videos im glad ive discovered them!
watching that bugs bunny demo, made me remember playing that when I was young, use to die all the time cause of how stiff it was. Good memories
I had this as a kid, it just came with the console. (Still have it somewhere in a pile of old PSX games.) The CTR demo had three levels, the one you showed, and one for the two-player and four-player splitscreen modes respectively.
I owned this demo disc since my early PSOne days and it's still one of my favorite demo discs ever. A big part of my childhood.
Man so much memories with that Powerline logo! i had a lot of these demo discs!
European ravey PS1 aesthetic has been drilled into my head from a Young age and I see it in my sleep lol
‘id really like it if this could reach a bit of a wider audience outside of my regular audience’ WELL mission successful, cause I had never heard of you before Coconuts was featured in my Bandcamp recommendations email!

"It's all very moooneeeey.
And much like finance, I fucking suck at it.
What am I, bitch? Some fuckin' rich kid?
You think I own a car? You think my parents did?
Fuck no!
I took the fucking bus"
That might be my favorite section of a THH video yet. It's the way he says it, it just kills me
I love how you have this knack of repeating words in succession that come around every so often in a lot of your vids. It really really do be what it do be and it do be good 😊
Thortrude Stein
Zaddy Thor is back
Saddy Simp on crack
This man could make a video about damn near anything and I would be on board 🤣
As someone who just bought a shitload of PlayStation UK magazine demo discs from eBay....ahhh, the memories! Funny though I was watching your Liminal spaces video today and thinking I really wanted a new video and more "Thor's cat" (Wilhelm?Wilhem?) then BANG! New video 🖤
What a demo disc. Blitter boy is a net yaroze game that definitely deserves a play.
That song playing on the demo disc unlocked some deep core memory in me
You can really see the cultural divide in those PAL covers you show around 2:37. Much more attitude than we got in the US.
Strong nostalgia video. I agree, the demo discs themselves had such a special feeling.
4th grade 1996 our class always got to do whatever the final hour of Fridays, and this demo disk+ a new fangled ps1 (for that time) was an option for us. I remember some ridiculous live action reenactment educational trivia games we would sometimes play as a class.
I must have had this demo, I can vividly remember playing all these demos. I remember not being able to get far with that Bugs Bunny demo.
Brooo, the demo disc menu soundtrack unlocked a memory I didn't know I had or even know where it came from.
If you zone out the bugs bunny game actually looks pretty good.
DEVIL DICE! I forgot about Devil Dice! thanks for reminding me
i love the little meow after thor announces the final game at 35:00
Les fucking gooo was jus sleeping and listening to a vid from 7 years ago to then wake up to a new video!!!!!!
Yes! This is how I like the end of a long dong day of work! Thankies Mr. Thor
19:36 wow!! I didnt know you had special guest stars in this!!
cool music. im a first time watcher. when the namelists came up i almost skipped, but i was like, hmmm this music is cool. then you said you created the music. well done.
OMG the powerline splash I saw it on every fucking ps1 demo but never knew what it was
Holy shit I had that demo disk, my cousin gifted me his Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories and this demo disk was in the case too, scratched to hell but it still worked. The music for Destrega and the demo menu just unlocked some ancient memories.
Croc 2 and Spyro 1+2 were my first games. Loved seeing them featured
24:22 legit looks like something thor would use as a patreon shoutout LMAO
It's a holiday when Thor uploads, absolutely stellar vibes from the aesthetic of this channel
I just wanna thank ThorHighHeels for making the most Toonami ass videos on UA-cam since Toonami Bumps in the late 90s/early Naughties
Album goes insanely hard
Omg the Jampack music used for the American demo disk example at 4:40 awakened ancient memories 😂
Just added your album super excited to give it a listen!
I actually really enjoy the challenging platforming in Croc.
