ty because this video was so helpful. I'm meant to be starting applying now but even though I do well academically something's telling me I don't want to go. There's nothing I want to study really and feel as though I'd only be going for the nightlife and social scene which Leeds where I live is good for anyway. It's a difficult one but I think I'd be a lot happier in an apprenticeship :)
Leah Crowther that definitely sounds like the right plan for you for now! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment, I really hope it all goes well and you can start an exciting apprentice journey!!
I can relate to this so much I am doing an acting BTEC and the College won't stop going on about Uni but I don't want to go.So much pressure as everyone seems to be going
Jamie Barton exactly how I felt!! And when everyone around you goes it’s hard to stick to your guns if you’re sure you don’t want to! Glad to know I’m not alone in feeling like I didn’t want to go, make sure you do what YOU want!
I am a bit depressed at the mo as I’m not sure what to do in life I know it’s either a mechanic, palaeontology, basically mostly science. But I don’t want to go to uni due to moving away and plus it costs a lot of money which I don’t have and probably never will? Any tips and other things I can do?
Love this video! I got offered a full ride to a college if I major in music. I would double major. But I hate playing music, I'm so burnt out on it, and have never wanted to go to college either. Id love to spend that time doing other things. Should I just bear with it and go anyways since it's free?
Eyo thats amazing well done! What I would say is that if it’s free there’s no harm in trying it! Because after all, you can always leave if you find out it’s not for you. Think about what the other things are you’d like to do and if you’re not too sure what they are yet then it might be worth going - you may end up loving it! Or if you feel it’s the wrong decision to be going and you’ve got a bit of an idea what you’d do otherwise, then going might be more stress than it’s worth. I say, work our what the other things are you’d like to do. Try and have a bit of a plan so you can compare it with the college one and then choose which seems best for you now! But whatever you do, don’t force yourself into either option, do what feels right for your happiness and overall growth!
I’m in a position today where I’ve cancelled my uni application and it starts next week. This wasn’t a decision I took lightly and my parents and the school pressured us to go to uni. I feel so lost and don’t know what to do but I’m taking the time by not going to uni to find myself and what I love and enjoy. I’m going to get a job in the next few months but this isn’t something I’d like to do forever.
That is such a strong decision Georgina. Well done. It’s just not worth doing something you’re not 100% sure about. Remember you can always go back at any point in your life if you want to. But much more important to take enough time to work out what you’d like to do now! There’s no rush, you’ve got so much time to make decisions and things always happen for a reason! Focus on you and what you like doing, who knows where a temporary job may take you!
I know you’ve posted this years ago so I hope you still see this. I’m an american student and i’m about a month out of going to uni at essex. i know id do well in uni but there’s always been something telling me not to go to uni. i love travel more than anything which is why i picked a uni 3000miles from home, so if i don’t go i feel like i’ll be trapped here. can american students do apprenticeships in the uk? should i go to uni so i have at least a degree on my resume? sorry for all the rambling x
Hi Jill! Thanks for commenting. It does depend a lot on what it is you’re going to study I think. If you want a career that definitely needs the degree to be able to pursue it then it’s a necessity to go. But if you’re unsure of your career choices then it can be a large amount of money to spend just for the resume degree. As far as I’m aware anyone can study apprenticeships in the U.K. - but might be worth researching anyway. At the end of the day nothing is set in stone, you can always pull out of university once you’ve started if you feel it’s not the right fit for you. Or you can reapply in a years time if you choose not to go this year and spend the time travelling and going straight into work. Just remember that whatever choice you do make, it’s never too late to change your mind. You need to do what you think would make you happiest! Hope that helps slightly and best of luck with whatever path it is you venture down first! X
This doesn’t have many views, has me questioning our day and age. Thankyou for the advice , it’s help a lot 🙏

“You’re not clever.” I don’t believe you. You’re more articulate and expressive than most graduates. Loved this video!
Ah thank you! How kind you are to leave a comment like that!
The Universities you picked sounded more like holiday destinations😂

I'm at the age of 40, I don't like and go to the university. Ages limits 20-30. I'm not allowed.
You should do "stand up", whilst sitting down.
I love your video 👍
