Thank you for watching!! You can find the recipe and free printable recipe card here: www.ithinkwecouldbefriends.com/2020/05/18/lazy-chocolate-chip-cookie-bars/
EVERYTIME my kiddos need help opening something to eat it always goes the same way: “nooooo daddy...don’t eat it!” Dad: “what? You know there’s a dad tax.” 😂🤣😂🤣 those bars look super yummy, I may need to make some of those this week.
You know when you can still laugh with a man after many years, he's a keeper. And the fact that you laughed and didn't yell when he stuck his finger in a fresh cake was a sure sign that you're a keeper too, Dawn. Love the laughter!
This was way to cute!! We make these all the time but we change it up a ton. 1. Strawberry cake mix with white chocolate chips 2. Lemon cake mix with white chocolate chips. 3. German chocolate cake mix with chocolate chips and coconut. 4. And the list goes on. BUT we call them BROWNIES. Y’all are my favorite!!
1/2 cup butter for my fellow Canadians! Can’t wait to try these! I make the from scratch version but it would be nice to dump and go and experiment with all the different cake flavours! Today we’re using rainbow bits cake mix!
I made this last night and it is gone now. I used mini chocolate chips and yellow cake mix. They are good! They are better when they are cooled and chilled. Mine took 25 minutes in the oven. Thank you for the video!
Awesome job, Adeline! My 8 year old daughter tells me that she loves watching the minimal mom with me *only* if Adeline is there. She wants to play with you and really thinks you're awesome. And I think everyone else can agree with that! Hope to see more videos like this!
We had a friend whose dad passed away. These were so easy and quick to make yesterday and they loved them! This will definitely be an easy go to from Now on!
I just made these today for a small family gathering. I took a leap & did a double batch in a 9x13 pan, baking it first for 30 mins., then about 8 more, until golden brown. Like Mama always did, I tested the middle with a butter knife. Done! The bars were different than what I grew up on (Mama's, of course), but delicious! My family loved them. Thanks very much for the video & the recipe card. God Bless!
We made these today and they were delish! My 11 and 8 year olds made them by themselves today. They were so good we made another batch for our neighbors! Thank you!!
I made these today. We use unsweetened butter for almost everything. To get that cookie sweet salt flavor, I did 2 quick grinds with my sea salt grinder. Delicious! I like cake mix recipes.
Thanks for posting this. My grandson just started driving and loves to pop up at my house from time to time (pre-quarantine). I'm using this recipe for a quick and sure to please snack for when we can visit again.
I made the Chocolate Chip Cookie bars the other night when our daughter/husband/grans came over for our family supper....we devoured the 9x13 pan for our dessert! They are super easy, quick & delicious! I had a few miscellaneous packages of chips I wanted to use up..white, peanut butter, special dark and then the rest to 2C with mini chips! My 3 year old grandaughter took one bite and she said Wow these are really good! Thank you for sharing and creating the cute recipe card!
Thanks, girls!!! That sounds DELICIOUS!! And, the best thing for me is, it’s super easy to make that gluten-free! I already have a g/f cake mix! (might sound yucky, but most people can’t tell the difference!)
I just made a gluten free version (Pillsbury GF yellow cake mix). It was good but it came out a little on the dry side. I think I'll add more butter next time.
One of my favorite desserts for a pot luck or family gathering🥳 P.S. I add chopped walnuts or pecans to my recipe, my family loved nuts in their cookies and cakes 😱 Thanks 😊
Pamala Hanson Haven’t tried this but I will be adding the chopped walnuts as well! I wonder about a chocolate cake mix ... might taste like a good brownie? Have you ever tried that?
My son saw this video with me and went to his grandma's house and told her about the recipe. She had all the ingredients and they made them today! They are sooo good! I think they are better than cookies!
Have made these bars. They are still in the oven. I used a chocolate cake mix and added walnuts as well as the chocolate chips. I hope it works. I’m sure my kids will eat them!
Just made this last night with my newly 4year old, she mostly did EVERYTHING, except for spraying the pan and putting it in the oven, so simple and best of all sooooo good! Thank you so much for sharing!💖🤗🍪
Two talented young women! Thoroughly enjoyed watching, and Adeline, you’re a natural conversationalist and I predict that your humor, ownership and responsibility will take you wherever you dream of! Yummy looking recipe
I made these tonight with a couple of substitutions. I had French vanilla cake mix and triple chips chocolate chip mix so I used those. Huge hit in our house and so easy! Thank you for sharing!
So simple, and yet so good. 1st time I tried was with a vanilla cake mix. OK, but 2nd time was a yellow cake mix, with milk chocolate chips. Yep it was so good. Thanks
I quite love this recipe. And it is for sure the easiest and quickest dessert to take somewhere at the last minute. I have varied it sometimes. (1) I have put 1/2 bag chocolate chips, and 1/3 cup dried cranberries, that was good. (2) 1/2 cup of dried cranberries that I poured boiling water over to soften them, then added 1/2 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips in with the cranberries including the water. (3) 1/2 bag of butterscotch chips and 1/2 bag of chocolate chips, that was good. (4) Today: about 1 cup mixed glazed fruit (the kind you usually use for fruitcake). I can’t wait till it is cool so I can taste it. It looks and smells good. When you don’t have the ingredient you need ~ you do with what you have. And it has turned out well so far. Thank you for this quick & easy & tasty treat. 😁 👍 😋 💝 💖 🤎🧡 💚 ❤️
OMG! Your daughter has the same laughter you have Dawn! She's so adorable and sweet! I'm sure she grew much more like you by now. it's been 1 year since you made this blog. Best wishes
I’m going to watch this with my kiddos. Would ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ to see more videos showing minimal recipes with kids. Each of my 3 cook dinner one night a week and I think it would be fun and inspiring to get new meal ideas from videos like this. Plus it might pique their interest in some of the other great ones on other minimalism topics like the stuffed drawer theory. Thank you!
Dawn, this is so awesome! I enjoyed this video a TON and will be baking these with my girls this week. The printable is adorable and so is your sweet baker! ;)
My uncle stirred his piping hot coffee with his finger. There was no feeling in his finger but I didn't know that at the time. I thought he was Superman. Love cookies bars. Make them all the time. TYFS.
I know this video is older, but this is excellent! Cake mix is great for some “quick and dirty” recipes like cookies and crumble/cobbler. This is another recipe that’s a good “go-to”. They also work well with gluten-free cake mixes (I have celiac so I’m gluten-free).
Thank you…no truly…I really, really mean THANK YOU!!! My son was diagnosed with a tree nut allergy when he was 3…he is now 19. For the past 16-years for every event, birthday, celebration, party, get together…ANYTHING…I made all of the desserts to bring to these functions because I knew that at least one thing would be “safe” for my son to eat. Pretty quickly friends and family named me the dessert queen and it was an expectation for me to always bring the dessert…but also with that expectation…I felt that I needed to make something different each and every time. Lately I have been dreading get-togethers because I just didn’t have the time or energy to pour into making a dessert. (Meanwhile…nut allergy boy is now off in college and doesn’t go to half of these events anymore.). Then YOU came along with your wonderful videos on how to simplify life. In another video “The only reason we still eat together” you talked about simplifying the menu for gatherings. Holy cow…what a game changer for me! It was like you GAVE ME PERMISSION to stop with the dessert overload! And then you shared this fantastic recipe!!! I made it for a 4th of July party and they were just as much as a hit as all my other desserts!!! So this is it…my go-to dessert…simple, easy and delicious! I’m no longer in the kitchen hours making something and I actually look forward to gatherings and not dreading “what will I bring?” Thank you!!!
Today, I put this on and the kids and I followed along to make it for ourselves. We don't have "yellow" cake mix in Australia (that I could find anyway) so we just used a cheap vanilla cake mix and they still turned out so good! Thanks Dawn!
I made this last night directly after the video, I only had white cake (not yellow) and it still worked out! I just wanted to let everyone know, just in case! ♡
I just made these tonight with my little girl! They were so good that both of my kids said that loved them more than regular chocolate chip cookies! Thank you so much for sharing!! I love all of your videos so much!!!
I’m so glad this video was easy to find! My 5 yr old daughter and I plan to make this choc chip bars for thanksgiving.....we also went ahead and made it for the first time. Wow! Quick and so delicious! It’s definitely a winner !
We are definitely handing these out to neighbors. We gave our friends the gingerbread house kits for Christmas. They were a huge hit!! Thanks so much!!!
Hahaha - no it isn't too many chocolate chips. #neverenough. 😍 This is perfect timing! I owe a co-worker a treat and will make this now and deliver at work tomorrow!! Thanks! 🍫

Hallo from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you for sharing your recipe. Just one question. How much is a stick of butter? Butter not in sticks available here.
@@liezelyoung3817 125 ml
Liezel, i googled it and it says its 4 ounces x
@@sheilablackburn183 thank you very much, but we also don't measure in ounces here. 😊
You know when you can still laugh with a man after many years, he's a keeper. And the fact that you laughed and didn't yell when he stuck his finger in a fresh cake was a sure sign that you're a keeper too, Dawn. Love the laughter!
Helpful hint: when you spray the dish/ pan, place it on the open dishwasher door. This prevents spray getting everywhere!
Great tip. TFS 👍
Yes, saves the sticky mess from your counter
Thanks
That's brilliant! And another reason to give my husband to convince him for a dishwasher. Lol
Thank you! I always make a mess with cooking spray. ☹️
This was way to cute!!

We had a friend whose dad passed away. These were so easy and quick to make yesterday and they loved them! This will definitely be an easy go to from
Now on!
I love trying new combinations. Red velvet with white chips works very well!
Makes me happy that ya’ll shop at Aldi. In a “I’m just like a celebrity” kind of way…. Because I fangirl over you and Dana K White 💜

Aw, Daddy!!!😁 sounds familiar!! So cute. Great job, Adeline!!
Just made these for my mom to comfort her as she recovers from surgery. Thank you for the delicious and easy recipe - it was a hit!
I made these today. We use unsweetened butter for almost everything. To get that cookie sweet salt flavor, I did 2 quick grinds with my sea salt grinder. Delicious! I like cake mix recipes.
I love cooking with my children and they become the expert at something delicious.
Aw your daughter is just adorable! She’s lucky to have you as a mom!
Tried these at potluck and I was shocked to find out it was so easy and so tasty and bonus is that it’s a channel I love to watch!
So fun how Tom ended it! You’re such a sweet family! ❤️
My daughter is the same age as Adeline and was very excited to watch this and make these Cookie Bars! We just put them in the oven :)
These were SUPER! To one batch I added peanut butter chips AND white chocolate chips! WOW, everyone was blown away. MAKE 'EM! :) Thank you so much!
Thanks for posting this. My grandson just started driving and loves to pop up at my house from time to time (pre-quarantine). I'm using this recipe for a quick and sure to please snack for when we can visit again.
I can’t wait to try these with a scoop of vanilla blue bell! Yummy.
Oh my, that sounds awesome!!

Just made our first batch of these for my dad and step-mom who are visiting. Can't wait to try them when they cool a little. They loom great.
I forgot to comment the first tome you gave us this I made them and the kids LOVED them! And I loved how easy they were to make! Thanks!!
Thanks, girls!!! That sounds DELICIOUS!!
And, the best thing for me is, it’s super easy to make that gluten-free! I already have a g/f cake mix! (might sound yucky, but most people can’t tell the difference!)
Oh right!! That's awesome!!!
I didn’t even think of gf cake mix! Woo hooo bring on the cookie bars 😍
Will you let us know how it turned out? Pretty please?
I just made a gluten free version (Pillsbury GF yellow cake mix). It was good but it came out a little on the dry side. I think I'll add more butter next time.
One of my favorite desserts for a pot luck or family gathering🥳 P.S. I add chopped walnuts or pecans to my recipe, my family loved nuts in their cookies and cakes 😱 Thanks 😊
Pamala Hanson Haven’t tried this but I will be adding the chopped walnuts as well! I wonder about a chocolate cake mix ... might taste like a good brownie? Have you ever tried that?
Yes, I want a nut in every bite.
She is your mini me. Just adorable! ❤️
Loved this video! Mother daughter episodes are so sweet to watch with my daughter!

Hubby is sick today. So I decided these would make a perfect dessert for homemade chicken noodle soup.
My house smells AMAZING!
Thank you❤
Woot Woot! Total success with all 8 of our guests. Thank you!
We gave the ingredients and recipe to our kids teachers for Christmas. It was a hit.
I made these but used frozen blueberries instead of chocolate chips, just for fun. They were sooo good!!! Thanks for sharing!
