Gloria Vanderbilt, born on February 20, 1924, in New York City, was a multifaceted American icon whose life spanned the realms of fashion, art, and literature. As the great-great-granddaughter of the renowned industrialist Cornelius Vanderbilt, she emerged from the shadows of her illustrious lineage to forge her own path as a celebrated designer, actress, and author. Maybe you won’t believe this, but I still have several pairs of her jeans and still wear them to this very day. They were made very well and fit perfectly. I have followed her, and her career for many, many years. I have read all her books and have all of her copies of her short lived magazine. I had a friend who lived around the corner from me and knew her personally. He had several pieces of her original art work. She was very talented and did something with her life. She really left a legacy. And I feel her son, Anderson Cooper, is a worthwhile person, besides a talented journalist. The apple didn’t fall too far from the tree. Just different professions. Hi Carol, I always love reading your comments! I love how you still wear her jeans today! And how you have followed her life and work. How amazing to have had a friend who knew her! And so special that he owned some of her artwork. I completely agree-she really made her mark on the world!
Such cool vintage jeans to wear. I was just remembering how well her jeans fit a friend of mine, back in 1981. She was a tall volleyball player. I wore them too just a little differently.
Those jeans still exist.
Growing up in the 1970s, her jeans were everything. We HAD to have them.
She was amazing!!
There are still Gloria V jeans.
She is one of the best forgotten style icons from her youth and one of my favorite icons to look towards as inspiration!
I completely agree!! Well said
she was a high priestess witch
The beautiful comments Gloria made about her mother show the graciousness of her being. She was extraordinary.❤
Despite everything she went through as a child, she created an amazing life for herself. Talented and beautiful woman. Thank you Faith!
Thank you for watching! Of course!
Enjoyed this a lot, thank you. Happy to hear your narration again, it's very special. Gloria has a special place in my family lore ( she summered in my town) I wish I could share. A very gracious lady.
Thank you very much! That means so much! How lovely! She was indeed!
Much respect, struggle was real, loved fashion. I loved her style and fashhion.
I have read the book "Little Gloria happy at last". An interesting book. And your video was really very good. As always you make great videos and your pleasant voice is as pretty as always. Your video about Tony Bennett is one of my favs. 💐
Wow I will definitely have to read it! Thank you for mentioning it! Thank you for your kind words! I truly appreciate it! I’m also so glad you loved the Tony Bennett video!!
I had a pair of her shoes in the 90s. They lasted for ages.
The best!!
Those jeans were a staple in Jr. High! Great mini-bio.
Very true! Thank you!
With the Candie’s platform shoes!
One of my most treasured items is a Gloria Vanderbilt teapot I bought secondhand that looks like a black and white striped cat! ❤
Did you know that the actor Errol Flynn was a groomsman at her wedding?
Could you do a video on the cw show reign fashion? It was magnificent.
I have not see the show but it looks quite intriguing! Thank you for bringing it to my attention! I think I might make a more general video about medieval fashion- but be sure to include looks from the show🙏💕
