As mercenaries they are not covered by the geneva conventions, and thus are subject to summary execution if caught. Laws regarding torture might apply differently, but there are so many conflicting laws depending on which country prosecutes and how, so just assume that if they arent in a formal military, they have very few rights since theyre viewed as basically free range murderers.

Seeing pro russian people cry about azov while ignoring rusich and similar groups among the Russian military is laughable. While yes Azov is a far right group for sure. But the Azov of today currently fighting is far different from the Azov from the 2014 Donbas wars. Far less extreme compared to their Russian counterparts. Azov has made a name for themselves for being a unit that sees the most action that a lot of the regular Ukrainian army would WANT to join because of it. Not saying there is no bad apples among the UKR ranks but compared to the Russians it’s like comparing apples to a brick. I’ve been saying it forever. Russia has Nazis fighting for it and this is important because while Nazis are everywhere (including Ukraine) it is only when they start crossing borders should people worry about them because of you know… precedent. Milchakov has also said he doesn’t challenge Russian leadership and is apolitical which is why he is allowed to be. My question is why are these people given air time by Russia in the first place? The interview Preston mentioned had Milchakov sitting in a suit selling his ideals and not having consequences of any kind. Tacit support by Kremlin leadership. My conclusion is this is a sort of advertisement to draw in like minded individuals via Rusich and Milchakov. Seeing pro russian people cry about azov while ignoring rusich and similar groups among the Russian military is laughable. While yes Azov is a far right group for sure. But the Azov of today currently fighting is far different from the Azov from the 2014 Donbas wars. Far less extreme compared to their Russian counterparts. Azov has made a name for themselves for being a unit that sees the most action that a lot of the regular Ukrainian army would WANT to join because of it. Not saying there is no bad apples among the UKR ranks but compared to the Russians it’s like comparing apples to a brick. Also the far right sector political faction in Ukraine only has one seat in parliament, almost 100% of the time the right sector proposes an law or idea it always gets thrown out lol so yeah so much for that nazi government talking point pro rus folks like to bring up.

I’ve been saying it forever. Russia has Nazis fighting for it and this is important because while Nazis are everywhere (including Ukraine) it is only when they start crossing borders should people worry about them because of you know… precedent.
Milchakov has also said he doesn’t challenge Russian leadership and is apolitical which is why he is allowed to be.
My question is why are these people given air time by Russia in the first place? The interview Preston mentioned had Milchakov sitting in a suit selling his ideals and not having consequences of any kind.

And Russia want them dead too, but with benefit bonus if they can take others with them. Russia doesn't stand Nazi and because of that Rusich group acts very cautious about not being a threat to Russia's policy. Severing heads and all, is not radical as long as those are heads of Russia's enemies, that's how it goes. Russia don't bring them in official forces like Ukraine did with Azov. The fact that Preston using Rusich in his narrative is telling. It's rather weak argument when you have to justify over 3000+ Neo-Nazi soldiers fighting in the ranks of AFU officially. The war crimes that Azov did, will be known after war. Or you can ask any former Ukrainian living in Mariupol if you want more details. Both sides do war crimes. It's nature of warfare. Its incompetence on part of the intelligence and the broader administration that accounts for that. Real war criminals from the US and allies in afghanistan have been exposed and arrested before but there's a lot of evidence that a lot of it was covered up and there's a lot more crimes committed by soldiers.
