    Most helpful tip for me was the planting and what things to craft once you have the BCU. After dying many times on the early stages, I've just learned well how to survive up until I've placed the BCU then I'm just winging it really. The goal on my first day was literally - Fibre, loot, fibre, loot, fibre, loot, then set up camp. Although, what month do you normally start?
    I started in May but now wondering if I should've started earlier because my planting is a bit late. Another thing that helps me survive is doing the routine rounds to stockpile and make sure I get fed, so I walk the same trails to get everything I need until night falls. I also save my protein bars and water bottles for Winter. Really good video though!

      Hey there, glad you found this helpful, I start on the default start month... I want to say march I think?? It gives me a full spring, summer and autumn before winter. Don't worry about your planting they will still grow in the winter.

    If you shut the Hunters and Rogues off at the beginning can you go back later and start them back up without having to start a new game. And, can you put on normal before continuing the game?

    • @QueenbeePlayer
      @QueenbeePlayer  Рік тому

      Hi there yes you can turn hunters on and off throughout, dont think you can change difficulty though but I may be wrong as I have never tried. If you shut hunters off they will dissappear and then when turned on will start spawning in in new locations and building their bases from scratch. You can also change year length and month mid game too.

    Thanks for video. This might be a stupid question, but I am new to this game. How do you use the power and mass in the storage units? As the BCU only ever says 500 out 1000 Power and 100/200 Mass. But have both a power and mass storage units.
    Also you state that the woodburner will last all day when fill with fuel(wood) mine doesn't though, do I have to upgrade it then? Do you have to make a new key for each lock box? Also do the lock boxes disappear if you try to open them without a key? As I have seen heaps. and now I have a key only found one. Sorry for all the questions.
    Also I don't how you get so much done in the first and second day, still trying not to starve, Haha

    • @QueenbeePlayer
      @QueenbeePlayer  2 роки тому +3

      Hey Rob, not a stupid question at all, I recall a lot of headscratching myself over power and mass when I started out. So the BCU provides free power and mass up to 500 pwr and 100 mass, no matter how much storage you have you won't get past the 500/100 on the BCU alone. For power you can use a generator in the first instance - powered by biofuel. You can find biofuel in crates, craft it from 4 medicinal herbs or better still render down animal fat in your woodburner for it. Always try to let the BCU get the power up to 500 if you can and then push it on with the generator from there, never use overdrive its not resource efficient. Much better to craft a second one. Later you can craft solar panels and wind turbines - never upgrade these - again not resource efficient, just craft additional ones.
      For mass you have a mass recycler or mass fabricator. Again, try whenever possible to let the BCU get you to 100 then push from there. The fabricator converts power into mass, the recycler converts mass from crap you don't want/need. I have both but always go for the recycler first. Burned food is good for mass, and a great hack is to gather a load of logs and then craft into sticks and push the sticks through the recycler as the sticks give more power per log than a standard log would. Recycler uses some power to convert the stuff to mass but not as much of a huge hit as the fabricator.
      I fill my burner just before I leave and try to make it back before dusk... if you aren't pushing it to extreme a woodburner will last the day - there are no upgrades. Often I come back to base at early dusk and do a drop off my inventory, top my burner up then do an evening crate run and locked crate search (mornings and evenings are great for loot spawns)
      Locked crates - you need a new pick per crate... one use only but often you will get most of the resources back from the crate if you are lucky. Locked crates spawn in certain areas but not the exact same place, the spawn is quite a large area so make sure you run around a bit. The don't stay forever, you will have those unlucky times when you spot one and have to run back to base to craft a pick... come back and it's gone. Best time of day is first light and dusk IMO.
      If you are struggling early game, I would focus on a a fishing pole before a bow... hit up some big trees for grubs, dive in a lake for kelp for easy fruit/veg and fish at night for your food. Spend a few days like that, find a high rock near the water craft a chest or two and just resource gather, don't push yourself to start base building - The last couple of seasons I have known where I wanted to build but normally I don't start building till day 7 ish.
      Hope that helps 🐝

      Another question, if you have your main BCU in one base, say at Pine Forest Lake and a secondary BCU at a second base at Birchwood Lake. Can you power the second BCU with a generator, storage and a recycler to craft stuff? Cheers

    • @QueenbeePlayer
      @QueenbeePlayer  2 роки тому +1

      @@Rob-un6pj You can set up a complete secondary base and run power through it using generators, power & mass storage and recyclers etc but just like the previous base you can only place these within the range of your 2nd BCU - also if you ever need more space, there is always a bcu extender you can place to expand your placeable area.

      Do you mean where to craft things like the generator and workbench, wind turbines, plant beds etc? Once you place your BCU you can craft all these kind of things plus lockpicks by clicking on your bcu. This will open a crafting menu. Crafting the basic things like fishing poles, bandages, bows, initial guns, shotgun shells and building parts can be crafted on your character and later you can craft things in your workbench

    Sorry but for a tutorial, it's much too fast, the continuous vocal narrative is nerve wrecking, I had a hard time following and I have played the game for some time, for beginners this video is a nightmare. You have great knowledge of the game but you need to slow down, take it step by step and take a breath once in a while, I hope you realize that this is my opinion and is in no way meant to challenge your ability to make a meaningful tutorial.

    • @QueenbeePlayer
      @QueenbeePlayer  3 роки тому +3

      Hi Akeel, no offence taken at all, you can see in all my other videos the pace is much slower than this. I was trying something new in terms of pace and I really value your feedback on this. You are totally correct, for me it feels very fast but ironically this appears to have significantly increased the average time watched and also the amount of people watching this video to the end compared to any other video on the channel. At the moment I am in a bit of a stage of experimentation... looking at what works for my viewers and what doesn't the stats on this are great and show that this is in the right direction but by no means are the only thing I will use to inform my content, feedback like yours is invaluable and I intend to keep working at it I promise 🐝

    • @Maeda_Miakoda_Gaming
      @Maeda_Miakoda_Gaming 2 роки тому +2

      @@QueenbeePlayer I also noticed the pace increase, but I'd like to add that if I were actually trying to play along with what you were saying, I can play the video at .75 speed and I can pause / rewind at any time. I think you should do whatever gets you the most views since that's what will expand your content to more people who will benefit from it. I know that I prefer bite-sized chunks in a playlist when I'm learning a game and longer videos for 'let's plays' when I'm actually playing along. Both kinds of videos are important for my learning style and game play.
      I also tend to not watch game play that is really deep into a series. As a beginner, if the creator's beginning of the game content is too old to feel relevant, I'll watch someone else. I have creators that I love to watch for other games but their subsistence series is just too far advanced for me to get anything from so I don't watch theirs. It's a shame because I'd love to give them the watch time but it's just not helpful to me.
      Also remember that "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time” so make sure to do what you love, too. 💕

      @@Maeda_Miakoda_Gaming Thank you for your comments, I am so glad that this video has inspired you to try the game again, and I really hope this video helps with that.
