On latest conversation of The Pivot, Ryan Clark opens up to co-hosts Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder on what the process was really like negotiating his own contract after being a free agent for a few weeks following end of NFL SEASON. Ryan shares how knowing your value, fighting for your own and standing on what you deserve is all part of it but also knowing that there’s work to be done ahead. He acknowledges the Stephen A’s and Pat McAfee’s of the world and how they should be respected for two totally different approaches to the business yet both have branded themselves in ways that they can control their present day and futures.

The most powerful threat to the establishment is an educated, articulate, intelligent Blackman. Thank you Ryan for representing us extremely well.
How can you believe this statement, how can a minority impact the majority?!?
Yes not a blk woman
No shit buddy
Lmao what
Race has nothing to do with it…..
So glad he got to stay on ESPN. Ryan Clark is very talented & skilled. Dude can be funny and honest in some of his takes. So glad he was able to re-negotiate a new deal.
Ryan, former journalist here. I'll watch anything you do. For real man, love your mindset and vibe. Keep doing what you do!
Couldn’t have said it better about Ryan
You were not no damn journalist bud
He learned the game and negotiated his own deal and one day will be his own Corporation
Ryan Clark is such an inspiration for a lot of black men to level up and bet on themselves
This is Betting on yourself
This is knowing your value
This is accountability
This is standing on business
Facts 💯
This is also being very lucky that it worked out
This the type of intelligent intellectual black Man we need representing the culture! 🙌🏾💯
We don’t have to follow entertainer or have the same exact thoughts, but I love the way he represents himself as a Man, what he speaks about, and his passion for the culture as well! Thank you sir!
🔥🔥
The word intellectual and sports don’t go together lol
@@jerseyraider9618 you're right but not how you think. The word intellectual in this context is referring to the individual (Ryan Clark) and not the sport, or any sport.
Just Found This Channel, I Love It.. No Screaming, No Putting Each other Down, Just Subscribed. And You Men Are Real..
💯
Facts 💯
"You want me, and can't stop ME" now thats a Bar❤🎉
“Meat on the table” is wild
Beat it
It's real
Facts 💯. Pause
I started following Ryan after he spoke and prayed for DeMar Hamlin when he collapsed (gone into cardiac arrest) during the game on live TV. I had never seen a sports commentator or any other kind do that. I was touched. #SportsLovingGirl
#AlwaysBetOnBlack
Im just glad my boy back on ESPN
I love this dude!! so happy for him and his family, I think he is a overall example of hard work and taking advantage of the opportunity given in the time of the opportunity.
It's good because now he's easily the best straight up nfl talking analyst on espn
Keep moving the way you're moving Ryan. As a black man I have the upmost respect for you. May God continue to bless you and guide you into making sound decisions.
Ryan is supremely intelligent and skilled but raw enough to represent real. 👊🏾✊🏾
Ryan Clark is the best. His speaking style is gold. If you want to imitate it... Just say the same sentence opener twice with slightly different second parts of a sentence. i.e.:
"My favorite part of negotiating
A) Was knowing... that people didn't wanna talk to me.
B) was knowing... people didn't wanna talk to david Mulengedo.
I always liked this guy. Get to know his story from where he came to where he is and what he’s thriving to be. Respect 💯
Ryan Clark is such an inspiration to young Black Boys & Man because he is intelligent, knows his value, he is true to himself and he bet on himself by Educating and Elevating himself. He also knows how to be Real and Raw when he needs to be!! He is someone I want my Teenage Son to admire and emulate because Ryan Clark is the Best Example of " ALWAYS STAY READY SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET READY WHEN THE OPPORTUNITY COMES!! God Bless You, Ryan Clark!!👏🏾👏🏾💪🏾💪🏾 ❤❤❤
That is why I subscribe to former atheletes podcasts. They talk about what they know having been there. You get insights nobody ele can tell. I value them.🎉
“Always Bet On Yourself!”
But that Meat comment was WILLLLLLLLLLLLD!!!
That’s a Flagrant 2 Mr Clark!
I had to rewind just to make sure he said that wild shit
I scrolled too far to find this 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Put ya meat on the table. 😂
Unfortunately when he said that I thought he meant a steak 🥩! Only from the comment I picked up what that meant!!
Pause
Crazy
STAND STRONG EVERYTIME RYAN! GREAT EXAMPLE OF 10 TOES DOWN!
When Ryan talks I listen! Period!
One of the best in the game!! I'm glad you were able to get what you felt you deserved for now. But as you continue to grow in this lane the value will grow as well! I look forward to seeing all that manifest‼️🤞🏿💪🏿🙌🏿🙏🏿🖤
Ryan thank you and I wish you were on ESPn more often!!!
I always share the #pivot podcast and HAD to share this clip because knowledge is power. And no one can take that away from you, and the respect that follows is SO exhonerating. Keep rising above because there is nowhere to go but up. #AProudGrandOfYoungAspiringAthlete
Great job RC
An absolute model of hard work and determination!
I wish your work would resonate louder in our lost hip hop community. Be blessed and keep up the good work 💪🏾
Bravo RC 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾!! No one will advocate for you better than yourself!
"put you meat on the table" is wild lol But shout out to Ryan for being true to himself
Glad you're back. My fav analyst! Love the pivot too.
Watching the growth from the beginning of the pivot to what it is now you can’t but respect it also admire it very proud of not only RC but all y’all have grown so much and helped so many people with your interviews and perspectives❤ good job u earned it!👏
so proud of ryan
I can listen to RC ALL DAY!!! This man is just different 🙏🏾
Ryan you did that 👊🏾
I’m not a black woman I just wanted to say I was glad that ESPN realized that RC was worth the money they payed him because he’s so good at his job, he is so heart felt on everything he says and feels.. love this man so happy for u RC
1:32 that’s real talk
Clark , orlowsky, Stephen and sharpe. Thats a winning lineup
Love this from
RC. Stand on business champ!
Yo PAUSE RYAN CLARK MEAT ON THE TABLE THAT WAS CRAZY
yeah I didn't get that, either. I hopt that doesn't become a thing. 🤣
Keep going Ryan. I only watch any of those shows when you or Shannon are on.
So glad your back cause I was pissed that you weren't there
He's a really good sports personality i like that he's not a partial sports handicaper he doesn't dwell on the teams he played for like a lot of these other guys or the ones that never played at all that are over the top.
“Stephen A can walk in and out his MEAT ON THE TABLE”
Is crazy 😂😂😂 ⏸️⏸️ wow I left after that couldn’t take this talk serious. Ya all looked serious and let this man just continue his dialogue my goodness. 🤣🤣🤣
Pause😂😂😂
Yes indeed Cuz!
Love and Blessings
Congratulations 💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿
Bro Ryan man I like your swag (confident) I'm proud of you brother. Let your light shine, God got you. Do what you do. Don't take a back seat. GOD BLESS
Ryan Clark is a reason why I get up and do click and Shannon
Totally agrée with ya . Im Watching get Up right now doesnt it just sound right when hé is talking football it does to me like a cold Beer.
Congratulations! 🤎🤎🤎
Much love my brother keep grinding
Good for Ryan Clark appreciate the brother on ESPN and what he does. He’s only on record for one comment that I really didn’t like that he he has said back when the stand of Kaepernick however, since then he has been a very outspoken person for the black community and black athletes football players more directly. Keep up the good work Ryan Clark.
Ryan is that dude. Type brotha that is great all across the board. Can't play with a man of that stature.
Basically he saying he negotiated his own contract. Thay theu tried to force him to give up being apart of The Pivot. More than likely they wanted to take it from them and make it their own. But he stood on business. Stephen A, Shay Sharpe and Pat Mcafee had enough following and power to where they can leave ESPN and the people will follow. So they can get that money by saying yall need me and give me this contract and get Kellerman out of the company(put meat on the table).
RC is a good brother I remember having a good conversation with him at the Charlotte airport
Meat on the table is wild 😂😂😂
Rock banana boats was CRAZY 😂😂
Good stuff man. Always liked your segments
The other 'brutha's' that have commented have pretty much said what I wanted to say but I know as someone trying to get back into 'the game'...I admire your strength. Oh ya', I grew up watchin' the old 'Inside the NFL' when I was high school football player in the 80's & that era is over & I like the new show. I hope that it comes back with all of you 'cats' on it next season.
Congrats RC! I love the hoodie!!
Ryan is goated.
Never liked Ryan Clark but I have huge respect for him!
Congratulations!
I know this might not reach you, but Hell Yeah Fucking Right RC! The biggest thing is you made your value abundantly clear. I love you as a distributor. Distributors are the new wave. Hot takes are cheeks for the vast majority of people who watch sports on YT. The people want long format, nuanced discussions I.e The Pivot
Stephen A is a legend, don’t get me wrong. But nobody is really checking for him digitally. He is ESPN. ESPN is Stephen A. They are married in some type of way. But the average sports fan is divorced from the status quo. The future is now. Good on ya.
ESPN At this moment there history they have one hell of a lineup and all of them aren’t pretending to be somebody they are not and that’s what it work PTI has been on since 2001 WOW
RC walked in and put his Emmy on the table😂
Talk ya shit Ryan
Dang, this guy is so well spoken. Who is he??
Thank you, Ryan, for showing us how to quit being a slave and start being an owner in this US and world economy. You are not alone. Many of "us" are quietly operating our own businesses throughout this country. We've left the cotten fields for corporate plantations and now have moved into our own successful business.
keep grinding !!!!
Say what you want about Stephen A. Smith but he literally set the blueprint.💯
Need that Hoodie
Pause on the meat on the table comment but we understood you bro 💪🏿
what if he did put his meat on the table , The industry is full of pronouns so he might have owned the show after doing that with a instant raise in salary and a rainbow welcome party
I respect RC and I want him to get paid, but he doesn’t make or break ESPN. Respectfully. 🙏
Ryan is emotional, always yelling into the t.v. and his points are so so. I turn the channel every time he is on.
Man i wish all the media companies would just do what the stations do with their weather departments......just hire nothing but fine women of all colors. Now thats a business model that'll last a lifetime!!
Put your meat on the table is insane 😂
The Internet is the new TV. The smartest know how to use TV to get on the Internet and keep that real. Amen
If they would've let Ryan Clark go, Espn would have went down . They have let too many good people go like Jalen Rose, Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy and many others. They are losing ratings because of their stupid decisions.
I was watching the Knicks game on ESPN and the commentating was horrible. They need to bring back Action Jackson & JVG
Wow. They tried to make him give up on the Pivot.
You can only negotiate with leverage. It requires self-awareness and knowing where you are on the totem pole. Lamar had a lot of leverage. These social media platforms have changed negotiations because you can always bet on yourself and launch a channel.
I love Pat Mac
Being honest to say that he wasn’t in position at first
Ryan said " Please espn give an x amount of dollars because I will talk the cowgirls until the viewers throw up even when they get booted from the playoffs I will still find a way to speak on them cowgirls pay me"
❤️🖤💚YES SIR❤️🖤💚
Meat on the table😅
What is some key language to use in contracts like these?
Why was I thinking they had 400 thousand followers.. I'm tripping
They have 800k on their main channel. This is a second channel
Pause!!!! 😂
👑💪🏾
Chan shirt supposed to say Truth?
ESPN is his boss 😂😂😂
They can get a lawyer vs an agent and save millions.
I remember when Shannon said that, too. Pay the lawyer an exhorbitant hourly rate, you're still saving millions.
Chan needs to start doing some daily pushups 😂
We are the talent and always have been. It’s time that we learn the business! This is what terrifies the dominate society! Get a lawyer to review the contract with you ! That’s it
Salute RC but put ya meat on the table is nasty work 😂
Enough already about your contract. I don't see anybody else talking about their contract. You got signed. Congratulations well deserved. Can we move on now? This is like the third video I've seen about your contract 😳
We like these master classes that we are getting from these guys.....
Deion Sanders.....Shannon Sharpe..
Stephen A Smith.....Ryan Clark.....Kountry Wayne....Monique.
Katt Williams......We not as SMART as YOU.......
Props to Ryan Clark for getting a deal he was satified with.
But Pat McAfee could do what he wanted because he had a podcast. And he's probably still in that position now that he's with ESPN in the sense that he could just go back to doing a podcast if he didn't like what was going on at ESPN or if ESPN decided to get rid of him.
But I do not look at Stephen A Smith as somebody in the position to do what he wants to do at ESPN.
He may try to sell that like he's trying to sell his story about how he made the team at Winston Salem and how supposed drug dealers were looking out for him because they saw something in him.
Stephen A. plays the "do what I want.." as part of his schtick like the woman who says "I can get any man I want..."
Only go where there are signs of preapproval and anything not preapproved you never wanted anyway.
"Put his meat on the table"
West bank stand up
So they tried to force you to give your independent show?.?
Could a retired NFl player dominate at the high school leve? #NFLvsHs.
