    I confess this is deffinately a favorite of mine to make. Sometimes I will just let the homemade sauce simmer for a few hours to allow the seasonings to infuse the sauce...One of those cant go wrong recipes..Great for a potluck of sorts during the summer as well as a nice warm meal during the colder times..Like the fresh Mozzarella !

    One wouldn't expect the mozzarella mixed into the noodles to be so nice but it gives good body that meat normally would without being gluey. I used penne lisce and baby spinach instead of so much basil. Thank you for the idea!

    Who doesn't love pasta? I've been experimenting with some of the whole grain pastas, and while they're kinda 'nutty' and good, they have a very different texture, a lot less starch, so none of the traditional sauces really work very well with them. They do work well in stir fries though.
    So, here's my request: *how 'bout some whole grain pasta dishes, maybe with some veggies please.*
    Thanks in advance Sarah.

  • @notsurex

    what if you use jar sauce, do you still have to put it in the pan with the garlic, or can you just pour it into the pot after you drain the noodles

  • @MoiLaGiGi
    @MoiLaGiGi 10 років тому

    It was absolutely delish, but no one told me that the spaghetti on top would get a little hard.. I added ground beef and some veggies, like a pasta bolognese but really different edge to it since its baked.

  • @MrsAnarchicaMente
    @MrsAnarchicaMente 9 років тому +5

    Just a friendly advice: when we (and for "we" I mean italians) make "salsa" we just put a few leaves of basil while tomatoes are boiling and the sauce is reducing. Then, when the sauce is ready, we took off the basil. It's just for taste! And cooked basil leaves are really awful!

    • @Brooque613
      @Brooque613 9 років тому +2

      +Loredana Vacirca I was kind of curious about that. I mean, she just dumped them in there like spinach. I personally can only stand a hint of basil, not a lot, but I usually work with the dry flakes and not the whole leaves (so I don't know what that would taste like).

    • @MrsAnarchicaMente
      @MrsAnarchicaMente 9 років тому +3

      Try fresh leaves instead, if you can. Italian food is all about fresh ingredients :)

    It's hard to find a good brand of mozzarella
    What would you recommend?

    • @MrsAnarchicaMente
      @MrsAnarchicaMente 9 років тому

      +Chugahontas real mozzarella is creamy, milky, soft and moist (like this: cheese.slowfood.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/mozzarella_bufala_campana_web.jpg). Everytime I see "mozzarella" in american or not-italian cooking videos I find a strange kind of hard, almost yellow and dry cheese that isn't even remotely close to what mozzarella is. What kind of brand they sell in usa? I'm curious! btw if you find "santa lucia" try this one!
