You are completely right! I realized it as soon as I hit upload, since there are not a lot of reoccurring cast members that are not in the Nero's army, I definitely should have mentioned all of his successful attempts to help.
Do you have a review planned for Jikuu Senshi Spielban? This is a title I've desperately wanted to see for years, but their episodes are stupidly rare. All that exist today are the Portugeuse dubs: if you could find the original Japanese with English subtitles to use with your reviews, that would be fantastic. Spoiler side note: Machiko Soga, who plays Witch Bandora in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, plays Spielban's nemesis Queen Pandora. Regarding the Ranger/Metal Hero crossover: I would have LOVED to see a Power Rangers/VR Troopers crossover. Supposedly, it was teased in Saban offices during the Power Rangers boom, but nothing ever got materialized. All there was to show for it was a Cybertron pilot that was originally going to star Jason David Frank (Power Rangers), Brad Hawkins (VR Troopers) voicing the Gold Ranger for a few episodes, and Sarah Brown (VR Troopers) guest starring in a Power Rangers Zeo three-part episode. Could you imagine the possibilities with Rita's monster army, Grimlord's mutants and robot warriors, the Megazord merging with the Troopertron, comedy relief between Alpha 5, Jeb, Bulk & Skull and Percy? It was a missed opportunity for Saban. But there is a hope: Girls In Trouble: Space Squad Episode Zero featured Helvira (Red Python in VR Troopers) from Spielban to do battle with the female Dekarangers. If Toei can do that, it can most certainly crossover Metalder with the Sentai series.
The worst part about wanting to watch toku is you just hope to find a random forgotten fansub for a series. Spielban and Kaiketsu Lion maru are both like that for me. If you ever find a group who's taken it on completely I'd gladly cover it. I've had my fingers crossed for Toei to keep bringing back the metal hero series, I love Sentai and Rider but a full modern Metal hero's is on my wishlist. All the saban worlds colliding would have been amazing, I remember being younger and dying to see it. Thanks for watching!
I think it's possible to torrent the raw Japanese episodes of all Metal Heroes except maybe one of the -tacks, but yeah, English subtitling is still pretty spotty. I managed to find Portuguese subtitles for five episodes of Spielban that I could throw into Google's translator, and I watched all the Portuguese and French-dubbed episodes I could find on UA-cam with its translator too, and so by also reading a wiki's explanation of what each monster up to, I mostly understood what was going on in the end... Hey, last month I learned that Machiko Soga also played a main villain in Denziman and SunVulcan!
Do the RAW episodes of Spielban exist intact, at least? I can say that as of today, a new English set is gonna be needed. I so want to see this series; it'd mean a lot to the Tokusatsu community, not just me.
Yep, just look up Bunny Hat Raws for the DVD rips. Also, I thought the English fansub for Spielban episode 1 was lost, but just now I found a reupload on Videogo! I believe that's still all there is for now, though.

I don't 100% agree with you on Ryuusei(Re-U-Sae) being a bland character, because he at least changed from where he stared out the series, but you're in titled to your opinion. 80's Toku wasn't always known for it character development, they are kid shows after all. Overall, one of my favorite Tokusatsu shows of all time. Fun Fact: It was only 39 episodes long because kids found the show to dark and scary.
I appreciate the comment. I also really appreciate you spelling out the name phonetically, I still struggle with a lot of pronunciation and up until this and the Kamen Rider W video before it I had never spoken a lot of Japanese character names out loud. I'm trying really hard to get better at it. It's still a bad shortcoming of mine. As for the bland character stuff, you are right, he actually has a decent amount of depth for the time period of the production, the idea's for these videos is how hard is it to get into a toku series based on a more western view of the material. So comparing it with a modern sensibility of character building is more then a little unfair. But I did find myself struggling with it on long binge watches so that's why I put it in there but I didn't feel like I explained it as well as I would have now. I was still struggling to figure out how to verbalize a lot of my thoughts and I feel like I rushed this script a lot because I still felt like I could keep an upload schedule of every 2 weeks (I couldn't). Sorry for the bloated response, but thanks again for the helpful comments!
For my last comment on this video, I have to say that, since I’ve recently become a huge fan of Showa Tokusatsu, I gotta say. Metalder is sadly one of the weaker entries I’ve seen. Yeah it’s cool and all, and we do get some good character development, and the Metalder suit is just awesome. But I can’t help but feel that it’s just kinda boring in places. It’s a Showa era Toku so obviously it’s gonna be very episodic, but that just speaks volumes to how much im glad this style of writing is pretty much behind us for the most part. Honestly, if you had to put a gun up to my head and I was forced to lick whether I wanted to watch this or VR Troopers, honestly I’d rather watch VR Troopers. Don’t get me wrong, VR Troopers is bad, but I can’t help but get such ironic joy from watching it. I’m simply never bored when watching VR Troopers, but Metalder, I can barely sit through many of the episodes without checking out. I plan on giving Metalder another shot so I can see if I end up appreciating it the second time, but still Metalder isn’t one of my favorite Toku shows
Being honest, it's the first KR series I watched start to finish so it has a bit of a special place for me. But overall I really like it and I think it made a great first series. I found unfortunately found Akiko annoying but still kind of like her. Shotaro I wish was serious a little more then he is but I absolutely loved him. Phillip I loved without complaint. At the end of the day I recommend it.
Unfortunately I don’t think it has any streaming platform supporting it currently. It is available through the darker parts of the Internet though… (google metalder streaming)
I know this is a late response but Metalder is definitely my favorite of the metal heros series too. Thanks for taking the time to comment I really appreciate it. I'm going to have to go back and re-watch Gavan soon and do another metal hero's video.
I hope Metalder comes back, but I doubt it would happen since Toei is more focused Gavan then any of the other Metal Hero shows

It is only 39 episodes because Toei went overly ambitious and blew all the budget.

Steel definitely has more depth for what it's worth. Just don't compare Grimlord to the Emperor God Neros
