I like where you mention the forehand cross court drill is a great drill can be come unrealistic. Many players (juniors in particular) LOVE to do that drill because they get into a rhythm and can crush forehands, but then can never change direction. Great point.
Yep exactly, we usually dont sit there and hit forehands all day, 5 minutes max to warm up and then we go this drill where one person focuses on moving the opponent out of position and then switching the direction. I also love the Swedish drill, in my opinion its one of top 3 drills to immediately improve tennis game
@@andreysmirnov7461 One rally drill I love is cross court- down the line. It combines elements of the two drills you guys were doing. If both players start easy, it's great for fitness, footwork (to AND from your shots) and placement under movement pressure.
Great video! Love the new style. As a junior, I do many of these drills, and they really do help. You are quickly becoming my favorite tennis UA-camr. What is your highest utr?
hah! Thanks a lot! Really humbled by your comment! I need to come up with more of these drills and record them. I actually have not played at all between 2016 and 2020 and August 2020 started playing again like 1-2 per week. This summer i have been playing every day for about 2 month and i only played 2 UTR tournaments in my life. After 1st one my UTR became around 10.8 and after second tournament my UTR became 11.7 which is what i have currently. So to answer your question, 11.7 is my current UTR and its the highest its ever been.
Thanks a lot! Voiceover was something i wanted to experiment with and looks like audience is liking it so will be doing more of this along with match play
Great camera setup, your form is beautifully fundamental - as a beginner these videos help. I notice how your feet are always glued as you power through the ball - that’s my achilles heel right now, as I have jumpy feet.
Thanks a lot! I had a jumpy feet all the time but then i figured it that it was because i was too hyped up when playing tennis. Calming down, helped me keep both of my feet planted to the ground
Your backhand is nice and balanced. You know how to apply power with both hands and push&pull action is relevant. You forehand tho is quite mechanic. You use eastern grip on hit and it's okay, problem is more about you wrist since it remains pretty much the same in all phases of the stroke. You should try to snatch it more before the impact e tray to use pronation in a way that allows more efficient shots to be played. Right now you forehand hits well when you have a ''perfect'' positioning ball, in every other cases you end up long/high because of no real pronation of your wrist on the ball. Those are just my toughts.
Hi Andrey, is there a way to contact you for a hit? I am also in the Bellevue area, previously 10-11 utr. Would be great for me to have a hit with you! Please let me know!
Great hitting as usual! I love the drills, I'm gonna have to try that when I find a willing hitting partner. I tend to get pushed back too and have been trying to just stay on the baseline to get used to taking the ball more early. I tend to hit the ball better when I do that anyhow and move my feet properly. You have amazing reactions, it almost feels like when you get pushed enough to a corner your beast mode gets activated and you rip a winner. Btw I love the voiceover on the video, really helps understand better what you're doing and how you're feeling about your shots. Also, I think the fake sexy girl bot accounts commenting on this video were activated by you playing shirtless 😂
Im glad, to hear voiceover is something that people like. Really wanted to experiment with it and it seems to be working out well. Sometimes i do get into a position where i start to realize that if i hit 1-3 more defensive shots, i will lose the point anyway, so i decide to risk it a little bit to try to get out of that position, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not but better not to be in that situation. Sometimes getting pushed back behind the baseline is not that dangerous if you are able to keep hitting the ball deep. You get into trouble when you are pushed far behind the baseline AND give you opponent a shorter ball. And yeah im not sure what going on with those hot girls accounts lol but its impressive if they did it programmatically
@@andreysmirnov7461 Yeah you're right as long as you keep the ball deep it's okay if you're behind the baseline, especially if you are playing a heavy hitter. I have an issue with hitting short balls off of harder shots sometimes so that would probably be a good drill to practice is both getting fed very hard shots, and also feeding a short ball and trying to anticipate where your partner will go witb their shot. Maybe 🤔
Lowering string tension usually allows you to have more spin as the ball sits on the strings longer. However that comes with a trade off of lowering control and accuracy. Not sure with what string you are playing but going down to a thinner gauge string, also allows you more access to spin
@@andreysmirnov7461 Thanks. I use 17 gauge strings. I think i am just swinging a lot harder at 55 lbs tension because i dont launch the ball like i do at 43 lbs. So i am thinking the lower tension is limiting my spin when its really just the loss of control for which i am compensating.
Well 55 lbs and 43 lbs is also a huge difference. I Have never played with anything lower than 49 lbs in my life actually. Try somewhere around 48-50, that should give you a decent balance of control and spin.
yeah so essentially one player agrees to just keep rallying cross court and the other player is working on moving the opponent out of position to then switch the direction like you would do in a match. You get to have 3 good clean points and then we switch
That specific one out wide was not 130mph sure but what i meant to say is that this guy is capable of above 130mph serves down the T which is why i have to be always mindful about my position on the return and be prepared to block that one
I think your forehand could be improved if you work on the two DIFFERENT strokes. I think you're a little middle -- but having the two would help you deal with all height and direction balls.
These are amazing drills. As a tennis player who’s in a varsity high school team, this will help me improve my game.
Thanks a lot! Im glad you find it useful. This is somewhat basic practice routine but will definitely help improve your level!
You guys' practice hits are probably 50% harder than most with their hardest hits. Great video! Thanks for the upload!!
haha! Ideally we need to now be able to place the ball well while keeping that pace

hey man great video, I think your channel would explode if you uploaded tutorials along with these types of videos!

I want you to make a video of how to grip the backhand grip!
Your forehand has all the fundamentals of Federer forehand. Insignificant differences are well, insignificant.
Next step is to play like 1/3 of what Federer can :)
You're really good. Fun question, how many games you think you could take from Carlo Alcaraz in a 3 set match?
probably 1-2 if lucky lol

Do you think lowering string tension by 15# would make it more difficult to generate spin?

nice coil daddy :-)
What strings are those?
Im using Yonex PolyTour Spin on mains and PolyTour Pro on cross. Strung at 52/50 when playing outside and 54/52 when indoors
this hitting rally was not recorded in normal speed.
hehe i will take that as a compliment :)
13:30 I'm sorry but that isn't a 130+ serve... You know Djokovic fastest serve yesterday vs Shapovalov was 123 MPH
