this is what happens when properly the best composer in modern music makes a song to the best singer out there ---- stunningly beautiful things happens
Tuomas' father didn't pass away last year because in an interview from April 2022 he said this: "A few months ago, my father passed away and she (Tarja) immediately sent me an email with her condolences. I was very touched by that.”
I feel you, Monique, i'm so sorry for your loss. I have the same experience.. My dear wife passed away just over a year ago..😞🙏 This beautiful song hit me so hard.. But it strengthen me as well. Floor does that to me.. Thank God.
My father passed back in 2011, and my mother passed on Nov. 30, 2023 at 90 years old. I hope that this song soothes your heart Monique. I have many happy memories, and I feel that my parents taught me to be a good person, kind to all. We are only here for a short time, so we should all be the best person we can be!
This was was needed yesterday as it was the 9 year anniversary of my precious mother's passing. I was bawling during this song. I downloaded this album at 12:01am yesterday and was afraid to listen to this last song because I knew I was going to cry. The fact that Tuomas wrote this song for his father who also passed and the message hits for anyone who's lost someone precious to them. Thank you for reacting to this!
Thank you, my friend! My condolences on your loss. I'm sure this hit hard. I lost my father a few years ago but we were not close so I can't think of him in this. ❤️
Tuomas lost his father during the process of composing this record. This is the result. Everything is all about the past recalled. Sadness, yet hope for the future. The closing song on the new record.
I feel like this song is a ode to everyone who lost theier parrents!! Floor sings the sentence, i was the one who climbed of your back not long ago, same words used in the song Our decades in the sun, that basicly why i say its about lost parrents, who became stardust.. Could be a song written by tuomas to hes father, who recently died..
What a masterpiece! I'm 68 years old but cry numerous tears when Nightwish does things like this. From power symphonic metal to this.... It's lonely at the top.
It's not obvious what this song means to its composer unless you know that Tuomas recently lost his father. He prefers to leave his lyrics open to interpretation, so even this most personal lyric of his can meet people where they are and mean something different to them. That's genius songwriting.
Until now, “Our Decades in the Sun” was one of the songs I wanted for my own funeral… when I heard Laternlight, my first thought was… oh sh… I need tissues… and… I want this song played at my funeral….
I believe this is one of Floor’s most beautiful vocals. Also, that movie reel sound is the first thing you hear on the album…this is the last song on the album so that sound is also the last thing you hear…like a movie projector starting at the beginning of the album and the movie reel running out at the end. Life…
First few listens I thought it was a beautiful, delicate song but I wasn't sure what it was about. People were saying it brought them to tears. Then I saw the video and from Floor's emotion could see it was a special song. So I pondered the lyrics and interpreted it to be the most beautiful message from the point of view of a loved one who has passed on. Now I hear those I have lost in this song, and I hear myself in it one day too as I think of those I will leave behind. A cycle of sadness weaved within everpresent beauty and joy. What a way to end the trilogy. So now I too cannot listen to it without a tear in my eye and yet it leaves me content. What an extraordinary gift to the world is Tuomas, Floor and everyone involved.
Same here, my friend. That's what I love about these comments and listening to everyone. Just like you, I know see the song the same way. Thank you! 🤘❤️🤘
As well as Floor can convey emotion in a live setting, this will be epic when they get around to it. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes it to her solo shows too. As I understand it, it was her idea for this to be a single.
Such a beautiful song and I love how it predominantly features Floor and Tuomas. Her beautiful voice coupled with his piano...GORGEOUS! I've been waiting for this type of song from the new album. I can hear Floor clearly and Tuomas playing that piano...a match made in heaven! ❤ Thank you my brotha from another motha for jumping on this song so quickly.
This Song make me cry. I loss my Mother 5y ago. And i miss her every day. Only Tuomas and Floor together. Awesome (with Troy and Orchestra). Thanks for your reaction. Grettings from northern Germany 🤘
Hallo 😄, good to see you. I already cried my eyes out. 😢😚💖😀 Have fun in becoming melancholic 😐🤔😏🤣. Greetings from Germany and Parkinson's sucks but EMPPU RULES 🤗 alex
This is a perfekt ending to the album...and the Nightwish trilogy "Endless forms most beautiful" "Human nature" and "Yesterwynde" the circle is closed. Great reaction. Thank you. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
Hello Bill, how you doing? I don't know about you but i think this might be the most beautiful thing I've ever heard, its achingly beautiful, almost too much for this old headbanger to bare 😳
A beautiful ballad to end the album. Some of the song sounds to me like it would fit with her solo album, especially the first verse. But you get quickly reminded that it's Nightwish. This ended up being the 4th single, "An Ocean of Strange Islands" came out last week, the albums longest at over 9 minutes. The entire album is out now too, but been busy and haven't had a chance to check out the rest of it yet. Once again, having a dictionary handy is a good idea when reading Nightwish lyrics. lol
First, how the hell did I miss that other son?!?!? WTF! Thanks, bro. Yeah, a dictionary is VERY important when doing Tuomas's poetry. I love that! Thanks, buddy! 🤘❤️🤘
Currently my favourite track Bill. Listening to the instrumental and orchestral versions, they are as moving as the full band version. Hint, hint: Tuomas reckons The Children of 'Ata is the standout track... Edit: in the orch and instrumental versions the sounds of older Nightwish are much more apparent.
I heard this song a few times now and always make me tear up. I think it's perfect song to end the album and the triology of the last three albums. Love all Nightwish era's but this last three albums connected with me so much, the songs about humanity and the world we live in made me connect with my emotions and change my view of life and the world. Just my two cents, sorry if my english isn't perfect. Greetings from Portugal 🤘
This song is amazing BUT ...again in this album they should not have Troy singin. He comes at the end when the song should already be over for 0 reaso, brings nothing and just :" hey i'm here"....like a bit everywhere in this album. So sad, that wouldve been a masterrpiece.
He doesn't come at the end of the song to jump octaves, he comes with his watm, soft voice to bring a sense of hope that, in the end, we'll be together again. Since it apparently is a song about the departure of loved ones and it sounds so sad and nostalgic almost until the end, I feel that Floor's last high note and this warm ending and even the colors that start to appear in the video are a way of saying that somehow we'll be reunited again. That's how I interpret it 😊
This song had me bawling within 45 sec. Floor's vocals and Tuomas's keyboard work is so emotional.
It's in here voice and the key they are in- so powerful! 🤘❤️🤘

Could not say it better 😄👍🤘
I completely agree! 🤘❤️🤘
Amazing Reaction Brother 🤘🏼🎼🎹 Depth And Support 🎶💎🙏🏼
Thank you, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘
Now this, THIS, is absolutely beautiful. This is the Nightwish I have been hoping to see. Tuomas and Floor have created a masterpiece.
Truly an instant classic! ❤️
This song is a tribute to all lost loved ones and special for Tuomas who lost his father last year.
Tuomas' father didn't pass away last year because in an interview from April 2022 he said this: "A few months ago, my father passed away and she (Tarja) immediately sent me an email with her condolences. I was very touched by that.”
It's a very beautiful song and I'm sure his father is proud. 🤘❤️🤘
This came out on the day my father died 16 jears ago! Can't stop crying, it's beautiful

I thought the same thing. The song sound sad, but it is about memories (the good and bad) of your lost ones imo
That's very interesting. I'm gonna have to dig deeper. I never caught an ode to parental sort of thing. Thank you!
Breathtakingly beautiful ❣️❣️❣️
Perfect choice of words, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘

I understand he lost is dad back in '22. Still recent for all intents and purposes knowing how close they were. Simply beautiful! 🤘❤️🤘

I could see that too. I'm glad she had that idea, and it got followed through. A wonderful surprise!
The first three songs are amazing, but with this one I'm feeling like a moth near a candle....
I hear that!
OH MY, BEAUTIFUL FLOOR....
Yes! 🤘❤️🤘
I think I cut just too many onions during this song.
