Excellent video . I searched for a while to find this info as I need to replace my pretensioner this weekend.

Nice. You may need to do a reset on the airbag system afterward to get rid of any faults from the pretensioner. 👌🐷😊 Have fun!

@@PiggyPower also where's the button for the seatbelts to come out connected to? To the pump/ tensioner directly?

Great video but i watched it hoping to see a way of fixing the problem without having to replace the full seatbelt, isn't there a way of retensioning the return mechanism? Seems pointless buying a second hand unit as its likely to be as bad as the one I've got and I can't imagine a new one from merc is cheap. It's getting on my nerves having to feed the belt in by hand or risking shutting it in the door. Do you know if the drivers and passengers side belt units are interchangeable? I hardly ever have a passenger so swapping them might be an option.

They are sided. I'd never recommend repairing a seatbelt. It's a safety item which saves lives. I agree though, second hand units can be just as bad, I've had bad ones myself supplied by customers. Good ol' Mercedes build quality!

Thank you for the great instructional video! Im going to attempt replacing mine this weekend. Do you know if the new tensioner needs coding or is it as simple as clearing the pre safe error via a diagnostic tool?

Clear codes. (if they stay on) and you'll be fine 👌

@PiggyPower thanks for the reply, I keep getting conflicting info online with regards to the pre safe belt needing to be coded once its replaced.

Do you know how to fix the pretensioner?

Fix it? I wouldn't begin to start messing with fixing those. Replace or send away for professional repair.
