Neo Scavenger is a CLASSIC now. This is shaping up to be even better. Just picked it up yesterday and I'm already blown away. Even in early access. Can't wait for the finished product.
@@LordMarlle I do already own it but was waiting to really get into it when there was at least one other station/planet to get to. Is there a pretty decent amount of stuff to do just in the local space?
@@LovablePWNER Not sure, I been having too much of a blast just stealing old wrecks and getting them up to speed. I think it's still mostly sandbox gameplay
Thanks for this video. You explain a lot of things, information and features that I didn't grasp during my game (42 hours so far). it's really tough getting caught on your first "tutorial" scavenger trip and being picked up by an officer fining you $15,000 for just three or two tanks of O2 and a few pieces of scrap ... I'll create a new game after this event (with 200/300$ in my pocket, so much to say that it's screwed up), but it's perhaps too punitive for a small ship containing little metal waste and 5 min of game, this fine would be more appropriate for a larger ship with a more hardened scavenger. Anyway... Neo scavenger is a game that I love !! and Ostranauts is on the same track !
Thanks for the encouragement! The officer fines are meant to be a bit of a battle of wills, and the $15k fine is one of the "defeat" outcomes. Most "success" outcomes should be small fines or better. Of course, that conversation is going to be a work in progress until we get the conversation system finalized. Still some work to do there!
i bought this game because it really looks sick. it has a lot of great features that the game industry needs right now. that being said, i returned it. I really want to play this game, but the exact same bug that you showed in this video, happened to me. My ship's prox alarm was going off mid conversation, so I went to turn it off, then the guy was in a permanent state of asking me why I was pulled over no matter what I did. And I dont want to settle for assaulting him just to move forwards. I reloaded a save, and the second time, he started tracking me before I even left the first derelict. Eventually he just went away, but when I got back to KLeg, I was immediately stopped by a cop and fined 15k, im assuming because the game thinks I escaped the police or something. but like, there was no actual reason provided, thats just my guess? I was only able to piece it together from watching this video. The basics of this game are awesome, and I would totally buy it again if it got some patching. the starting experience is just way too messed up at the moment, and it doesn't leave me confident to keep playing beyond the refund window steam provides. I will subscribe and wait for updates to purchase again
First, I am Loving the game. Second, Last night a had an Interesting bug... For Some reason the Police decided I was Public enemy number one boarded and tried to arrest me. SIGH, I beat the police officer until they surrendered, when I tried to strip them the game glitched, and suddenly I was controlling a police officer dozens of KM away in their ship. I checked my crew and I had the entire police force in my crew all running their own ships. But when I tried to pilot the police cruiser ship, it said I wasn't the Valid owner of that ship. While interesting I reloaded, as I was really enjoying my current game.
Not a bad tutorial, thanks for the info. I can't wait to play it some time. I tried it before, didn't really get into it, ( It was super hard, can't recall why, what with how easy you made it all look. XD )
Love the unscripted RNG loaded intro, awesome! I think the game def needs a "vent off the airlock" feature to "jettison" unwanted salvage or inert (unconscious/bleeding) cargo lol
Thanks! And there actually is a jettison option on most items and corpses. Usually, it shows up if the item is next to empty void. But something about Rosemary was bugged in that last few minutes...
Please change Bash from being the first of yellow keys. Way to often I think I've highlighted something with an inventory or tried to press uninstall while raiding a wreck and I hit bash.
Also not being able to see your own emotions (Anxiety, Security etc) while talking to somebody, without right clicking yourself feels like a step down. I don't mind not knowing which emotions different speech options is going to affect, but the requirements that triggered a particular option to become available should be trimmed down or maybe there should be an option to scale down the tooltip
The officer talking a nap was a huge problem for me on my latest save. He went to the toilet in the middle of our conversation. I thought I had cleared up our problems, went ahead and undocked, meanwhile he had come back and layed down to sleep in my airlock, and for some reason I couldn't wake him or drag him back to his ship
I would love to see a part 2 of this with a few more advanced tips, like correct use of airpumps, it has taken me quite a while to figure out what use the red gas canisters has for example
How did the game show that you no longer needed the screwdriver after getting the drill? Were there some tags or something? IRL you wouldn't use a drill for fastening wires and other precision work that you'd need a screwdriver for. So, unless the game is explicit, I'd probably still be holding on to my screwdriver just to be sure. I would have liked to see one revolution of the simple grind. How would you make a profit? When I tried to do as you did, even though I returned with lots of loot, the loot seemed to be either "not wanted" or selling for peanuts. Nothing that would cover the docking fee. Either I'm missing something fundamental about assessing the worth of something or I'm trying to sell at the wrong party at the station.
This is super helpful as I just bought game... Good tips on the tools.... However I just randomly got arrested on my first playthrough and made to serve 1-3 years in prison or pay 15k when I have 102 dollars... I was trying to install the conduit, it lit up as red where it needed to be so I installed a few blocks away. Didn't work, tried uninstalling it and installing again. I saw a message saying I had a warrant. Like what? Then tried to surrender (didn't work when I clicked) then said wanted dead or alive and I was pistol whipped... Like lol but I don't get it. Maybe I accidentally removed the wrong power conduit and the host ship saw that as a threat? Wish it told you what your crime was. Pretty bizarre on first playthrough ig I'll try from start again.
@@wens999 There's at least one other update to it that I've got in mind (non-Flash version). But I have to finish (and survive) making Ostranauts first :)

I didnt know you could have white parents. Iv only made 2 characters so far but each time my parents where black despite my character clearly not being. I should go visit them. Pretty sure my dad is head in my current run, tho.

Excellent game. I have not played in a while, but with these additions and changes. I'm going to jump back in with a new save.

This game is so cool. Are your hits always random in combat or can you target on specific bodyparts if your character is skilled enough?
