    Omni Light has decay and shadows radius, it's meant to be more of an "area light" to light up whole areas of a room. It's not that "it's not as bright", but it's because the decay is set to inverse square by default which means the light "fade" out a lot more. Hope that helps 😊

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  6 років тому +12

      As always, that's an excellent explanation! Is there a time or usage when you prefer to use Omni over Sphere Lights in your renderings?

    • @markorezic3131
      @markorezic3131 5 років тому

      @@TheRenderingEssentials I guess its better used for just generally having more light in an entire room, where as a sphere light from a lightbulb or lamp would be better for more realistic light sources?

    • @xtk
      @xtk 5 років тому +1

      @@TheRenderingEssentials Been comparing sphere and omni, and in the case of a narrow space that needs to be lit evenly (apartment hallway), several omnis in a row set to 2 Scalar and decay at Linear makes everything evenly brighter, as opposed to an invisible sphere light which will have the effect of a lantern suspended in air (hot spots etc).. can send you test renders if you're interested to see?

      I have literally been searching for weeks on how to light up a large room. I use the program for work and we are new to Vray and for me the omni light did nothing...changed it from inverse and what a difference!!!!! The answer I was searching for was right there in the comments. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

    I was just about to make a comment on another video about a tutorial on lighting and here it is. This channel and SketchUp Essentials are great and have helped me through so many modelling issues I’ve encountered. Keep up the great videos. Have you thought about doing any Revit tutorials? Your way of teaching is faultless. Thanks again. 😁

      Thanks very much! At the moment, probably not - if I was to do other tutorials, I'd likely want to get more into Unreal, Unity, Blender, or something like that rather than Revit, though I'm always open to new ideas in the future. Thanks so much for watching!

    Super helpful... Thank You. The more I get into sketchup, I realize I would need a really good computer with graphic cards because the more details I put into it, the loading time keeps increasing and it has become quite significant comparing to back in the basic days. Hehe but thanks so much for your efforts and helpful tips and information.

    Love the videos, thanks!
    Have you thought of doing private lessons? For instance, I'm imagining a 45 minute appointment or something, where we screenshare while I build what I'm working on. Maybe you build the same thing on your end simultaneously to quickly show options and what to do. Even without you building it too, having someone walk me through things live so I don't have to dig through text or video to find something specific, this could be a very helpful service. You already have the platform to promote it too :) Just an idea.
