For some strange reason today I remembered the good 'ole days of DigitalRev. One thing led to another and suddenly I ended up here. Glad to see you two blokes making vids. Just got to bring back the 3rd, if even for a cameo.
Alamby!
Same here man
WOW. That just happened to me. haha
What was the 3rd name?
I feel like a lot of people forget to mention one of the better features of flippy-tilty screens: being able to keep the screen protected when it’s not being used
Under-rated comment.
I will never, ever buy a camera without a “Flippy-Tilty” screen. Once you get to use them, it’s been for me, impossible to go back.
I keep mine closed when I'm out shooting, unless I need to shoot something at ground level. I'm with Kai though, I'd really prefer a tilt screen.
That's what screen protectors are for. Let's get to the real question, what are you mostly using your camera for? Video or photography? Aren't camcorders for video and cameras for photography?
@@jacobb590 absolutely, tempered glass screen protectors are incredibly cheap and easy to apply onto smaller camera screens (compared to phone screens).
Love too see you guys still creating.
Ah yes, the well known pro camera versus baguette test!
This was just so much fun. Right up there with the best of DRTV. You guys work so well as a team. I hope you produce a lot more in this style. 👍🏻
3 videos in 10hrs. Must be the end of the month. I’m here for it all. Keep up the great work guys!!!
Hah, beat me to it 😬🤣😂
Much LOVE from a faithful viewer in Austria! I really love to see you two together! 😍💪👍
+1 haha
@@mastaw yess! 😃
Another great video guys! IDK…4 more megapixels wasn’t enough to get me to upgrade from my 1DX3 BUT the R3 does give me goosebumps when I think about what the R1 COULD be!!! 😳😍🥰
The R3 Loked on pretty well.
You guys are absolutely hilarious. At this point, I steer to the 1 DXIII. I love my EF lenses.
wow I missed you guys, I was a photog student back in 2012 so I really enjoyed your videos back then, happy to find your own channel!
This was a good laugh! Thank you... with all the tough news in the world this made my day.
I've been wondering if it's time to switch to mirrorless... but it's just so expensive to get a new full kit of gear. I guess I'll wait till the tech is way better and I'm forced to switch.
Canon mirrorless relatively far behind compared to Sony or Fuji mirrorless tech imo
It really depends on what/how you shoot. If you're only shooting stills and the DSLRs work great then there's no huge advantage to switch for the price difference. If you're shooting video then it's kind of a must as a lot of the latest features cater more for video than stills. If you're current gear does everything you need you're better off saving the money. Just keep using it till it stops working!
If you're using canon/nikon just get the body and keep using EF/F lenses with adapter.
you can get an adapter and use all the old lens's on the mirrorless.. you can't use RF glass on DSLR's tho. But IMHO this is great because I can use all my old glass on my R6. I think for a short time EF glass will go down and value and then as it always does sometimes we find out older lens's are actually really quite good and the value goes back up.. all that EF glass CAN be used on the mirrorless camera's.. this is lovely. Buy a new body and an adapter and your good to go. I did purchase the new RF 70-200 but I always felt the EF one was too heavy and it was the only reason I got the new one and I had something I needed to shoot on the regular so could finally justify spending it. I'm just mad at canon for making the R6 so low in MP's.
I’m still hanging on to the DSLR life but I know I’ll have to switch some day…maybe the R1???
Kai and Lok were Digital Rev. You couldn't have a real camera review without watching these two on Digital Rev TV. It's just feels right that they are back together. Great job guys. Keep it coming.
Aww missed you guys!
I really love your videos, they are as good as they have ever been, I wish we could see more Kai, and less products; your work, your process.
So happy to see y’all boys back together!!
Always a bunch of fun with these videos.
Do you guys have indoor trampoline jumping places? Would be cool to test autofocus there! Great video guys!
I missed you, guys!! 🙌🏼
I was just getting back into photography and was thinking about a nice canon camera. Looks like I now got a device in mind :) thanks guys!
good stuff Kai - good to see you still having fun and providing content.
Lookit Lok!! he's proper Brit now... Clarks and his Proper Scally Cap on!! Just think... Somewhere in the UK there's a boiling pot of salted waiting for a cabbage that sadly will never come.
Thanks Guys.... I needed this!!
Lol,,,,,Isn’t it about time you two added a studio set to these vids…..Great to see you both still cracking up…I’m a bit disappointed you didn’t set em on fire like the good ol days..
Impresssive video… and as fun as always
I kind of forgot the video is about Cameras in the middle of the video, you two are very funny, I really enjoy this video 👍🏻
The 50mm f/1.8 looks like a lens cap on the 1DXIII
Kai W: This is a serious camera test!
All the people in the park: Those two figures went crazy there! 😄
great lil guys with great big cams! :) very nice!
Love you guys
I missed you guys. Good old days digitalrev 😊❤️
I will go for the 1dx mkiii in jiffy , and rather wait for 3rd gen eos r3 where it will be more refined.
Lok fencing with a colander and baguette low budget & high fun and other silliness with some point remind me it did have a point! was chuckling too much......This was a walk down memory lane to the days of DR and The Three Musketeers of photography youTube
Kai, remember that funny face/figure you made when Sony first came out with a EVF in their pro camera. lol.
Nice to see that Lok has embraced pastafarianism
You guys should do some film photography challenges for bokebros. 👍
And a new metric for evaluating focus performance is born. What is Nikon Z9's Colander Coefficient I wonder?
Ey bokehbros would u guys play with medium formats modded for instax films?
Kai's 3.6s run, looks like old uncle running
great review!
Question, does the R3 have IBIS wobble with wide angle lenses in video like the R3 and R5 ? Thanks 😊
none camera related question, where's this skatepark?
Still rocking a 5diii, and a stack of lenses.
I still use my 1dx mkII and it's the goat for me
Does Cannon R3 have evf delay when you bring it up to your face to take a photo?
Decided to get an R3 becaus of this video. Had a 5D3 and never upgraded until now. Its liyterally night and day and im glad I waited for Canon to make something worth investing another 10 years into.
Always enjoyable. :)
What baterry life? How many shots you can do with one battery on both?
kai is the only guy who can make a 1dx and R3 look worthless
At last a sincere comment hahaha ever since I saw Kai it’s been one of the worst photographer lol very funny introducing gear tho
With Lok here now, time to bring back Alamby or an English version of her!
Kai and Lok- you are the dream team!
Why this guys don't run digitalrev tv no more?
Better than the Olympics ☺️
nice to see Lok got out of hong kong
Wow, there isn't enough of difference to switch really. Maybe the R1 will tickle the balls a little more. Also, it seems like new cameras tend to warm green WB while older ones tend to cold magenta.
My favorite aspect of the new mirrorless cameras is the fact that DSLR owners are selling of their lightly used cameras and lenses for cheap! Got to get the latest coolest tech, lol.
Any review on the OM systems OM-1?
Whatever happened to your Digital Rev channel?
Honestly, I think you can't beat an OVF for stills, and we'll see maybe 25% of the market shift back to SLRs in a few years.
Eos was the greek god of heavy ass cameras
Not often, does people mention "beefcake". But here we are
those were the days.... and Alamby ~!
I figured Peter McKinnon would have done this video lol
Hahaha! Brings back memmories.
the digirev vibes is back .lol
Javelin with a celery stick?
😂 where do you guys get these ideas from..?
Cant wait for Canon to get "Colinder and Cabbage" detection! 🤣
Good fun, enjoyed it. The end of last year doing some research on camera controls, I picked up a 1D Mk3 on the basis that I could pretty much get back the £250 I paid for it when I had finished with it or so I thought. In fact and despite it being only 10mpx, I enjoyed using it so much that I traded it in, put up another £250 and got the 16mpx 1D M4 which is great fun to use. Obviously the technology has already gone mirrorless but for all that and for stills photography, DSLRs are very engaging especially when using something like a 1D body :)
I had a 1D MK IV a few years ago, and i could kick myself for ever getting rid of it. Even just shooting jpeg with it, the images had such a nice look to them. Oddly enough, the AF was horrible with my EF 70-200 2.8, but i had a 70-200 f4 (also really regret selling that) and it performed fantastic on the 1D! Really debating getting another one since they’re so cheap now.
@@ChrisRidesHisBike Hi Chris, like your 'handle' because I combine a daily morning bike ride with photography :)
I totally agree with your comments on the 70-200, I have tried the f2.8 but quite apart from its extra weight, I opted for the f4 which is such a stand out value for money lens that I use all the time. I have a number of Canon M bodies that I use for full spectrum and infrared and although you can use any Canon lens on them with an adapter, the only one I do use in this way is the f4 70-200. At around £500 the Mk 4 is really the price/value sweet spot because the next one up the food chain is the original 1DX and they still sell for a decent one at around £1,200. Beyond that the 1DX Mk2 is over £2,000 and at that price if you wanted to stay with Canon you might consider the R6 as technically a better investment for your cash.
@@johnhaynes9910 I actually just picked up a canon m6 mk ii and have been thinking about getting another 70-200f4 to use with it. My 2.8 is just a bit too big on such a small body. 🤣 otherwise I’m loving the small size with native Ef-m lenses. I am considering a R series body to eventually replace my 5D mkiii, but that’s not in the immediate future
Good intro talk 😁👍
The funny thing is in the US, the R3 is listed about 500 USD cheaper than the 1DXIII
That's the case generally I think, here in New Zealand the 1DXiii is 33% more expensive than the R3 at $12,700 NZD vs $9,500 NZD
Weird fact is that original 1D when it launched back in 2001 was priced at $6,799 USD vs $6,499 for the 1DXiii launched in 2020 so in real terms the 1 D series has got much cheaper over the years 🤣
WE NEED MORE FILM CAMERA VIDS PLEASE
That would be cool!! all someone need to do is to put of a new Film Camera.
Kai, the word your looking for is acronym.
People passing by must be so confused at what Kai and Lok are doing... 😆
It'd be great if you guys can get the focus right, there have been many out-of-focus shots in both you and Lok's videos.
You won’t see me move to mirrorless. I find mirrorless cameras feel soulless. I love the sound of a mechanical shutter and a nice chunky DSLR in my hand. I’m gutted the days of DSLR are over.
Pentax will continue making DSLRs 😁
For a second I thought it was a HK taxi in the UK at 14:05
Why is it that Lok dresses like a respectable Chinese person and Kai looks like someone spilled a pack of wild berry Skittles?
Best practice for chopstick skills is to practice on dried peas or peanuts...oh the Zen of it all.
playing with bread is not a video id populate...
I’ve watched you two since the DigitalRev days and I still don’t know much about you, like how you became friends and so on. Maybe I’ve just not been paying attention :P
Oh yes... 😏 silly, crazy DRTV action! ♥♥
Nice one
You silly guys!
Pentaxian here. Already painting my protest signs saying, "OVFs Forever!", "Once you flap you'll never go back" etc. etc.
Why this guy thin test 20 fps on 1dx?
So, what did we learn? Chop-sticking eggs prompts baguette swinging, which degrades into tossing your cabbage.
@7:06 that drop killed me xDDD
Just seems a new $6,000 for a R3 doesn't buy $6,000 worth of improvement over the 1DX I already have
1DX MK3 is $6,999 new, I'm sorry you wasted your money.
@@frostybe3r I'm not at all. I can shoot anything anytime with it. Thousands of frames on a single battery charge -- in a rainstorm. It's bulletproof. Great low light sensor.
I swear to god, if the R1 has a flip-screen...
Believe it or not, there are some photographers who actually take low-angle or high-angle VERTICAL photos, so a simple tilting LCD screen wouldn’t help. Canon’s tilty-flippy screens work just fine!
It's my dream
I have 2 1Dx Mkiiis that my work paid for. I wouldn't have bought a DSLR in 2020 with my own money but I absolutely love them.
after using one for 2 years and then trialling an R3 from our Canon rep, I'd probably stick with the 1Dx if I were to spend my own money now. I just found it was far more reliable for finding and holding focus, even if I do need to keep a focus point on someone's face, rather than letting the camera track a face itself.
I'm sure our office will go mirrorless soon but I'll be holding onto the 1Dx as long as possible. Frustrating that its high frame rate video is so limited though.
I think you need a good few weeks with the R3 to get the best out of it with regards to settings. The guys I know with them say the best Canon camera by a long way.
Good wideo !!!
It has a polycarbonatecharsiuuuuu
Schmoopie. I s that you Harry? You have a Kung Fu stick. I heard that elbow clack. Silly cabbage.
Thanks... I will stay with my R5
There's no reason you should upgrade for quiet some time, if ever.
2014 vibes
terrible autofocus, are you using GH5???
I was thinking the R5 was
0:30 is it just me or the other guy look a bit like Eren's father from attack on titan anime?! lol
