  • Kicking off the channel with the machine that sparked the idea for The LEEC.
    A Schneider EuroPC that has been stored in a cupboard for 20 years and needs some TLC from a leaky battery.
    In the first episode I will remove the battery and try to get some life signs from it.
    Forgive the dodgy quality as this material was initially not intended for anything but personal documentation.
    In the second episode I will try to restore it to a fully functional state.
    Enjoy!

    Do you have any floppy image with DOS to write on a 720k floppy for Euro PC? I'm not sure if I have wrong image or my drive is not working.

      Amator Kabli, sorry for the slow answer. I’ll have a look and get back to you as soon as I can.

      Hi again. I found that Googling "MS DOS Schneider OEM" gets you to a site called WinWorld with a working German OEM image of Schneider DOS 3.3. Although I would probably think the 5.0 generic DOS is more useful. I have tested both. I still haven't found a suitable mouse driver for the EuroPC bus port though..

      @@TheLEEC I thought it's compatible with AtariST-type mouse. Did you mean serial mouse?

    • @TheLEEC
      @TheLEEC  4 роки тому

      Nope, although it does have a serial port and can support a serial mouse on that one, the dedicated mouse port is a “bus mouse” type mouse that predated serial mice. A bus mouse is addressed directly by the system, so no serial level language, and it can have several different connector styles. The EuroPC happened to choose to go with a common Atari/Amiga/C64 style 9pin joystick port and support Atari mice on that port. This choice was more logical back then when serial ports were commonly 25pin. The rise of 9pin serial port made the usual 9pin mouse port confusing.

      Update: Mouse port works fine with an Atari ST mouse and the driver from “Microsoft Mouse 2.00 Bus Version”.
