@@Super-mr4yn I don’t think one needs to take so many AP classes to get into top schools . One takes it so they could get college credits that should be the idea. Even without AP classes if one does well throughout high school and in top 5 of their graduating class it should a good enough standard. I'm taking 10 this year. I've actually read about a student who did this on Quora and he self studied for 7 of them. He ended up getting 6 5s and 4 4s, very high scores considering his course load and self studying. He would have probably scored all 5s if he had top tier tutoring and learning resources. Knowing how much you have to study every day definitely improves your efficiency. For example, if you have 2 textbooks for each of your 8 courses, and each book is an average of 600 pages long, with the exam 10 months away, you would have to complete a minimum of 3 pages per textbook per subject while also revising all previous material every second day and taking several practice tests and exams (at least 5 per section per subject) a month before the exams. According to Prepscholar, students looking to earn a 5 on an AP exam starting at an F grade/zero knowledge of the material, they must ideally study at least 80 hours total for one AP exam over the span of 10 months. That is 8 hours a month, or 2 hours a week.

No, it usually doesn't matter; the changes between each year's edition are typically very minor. It will only matter if the exam structure has significantly changed (for example, the AP World History exam recently got rid of all material before 1200 CE, so old books might not be relevant anymore)
