I like how she approached him with the question. She didn't seem mad (though she probably is), she just mostly seemed unmotivated or even depressed now that she knows her life isn't real, and all she really wants from Dan is him to either tell her she IS real, or that he still WHOLEHEARTEDLY loves her and appreciates her even if she isn't, and I think she's either hoping they can stay together forever after he defeats the Chicken God clerics, or that maybe Dan could actually make her real. Her pure innocence was always the best thing about her, but now it's the thing that ruins her as her innocence was always the fact that she didn't know she wasn't real, thus destroying her innocence as now she does know she isn't real. It's no surprise she's so depressed and desperate to know the truth. So desperate she'll ask for the answer from Dan, the guy that cheated on her, terrified her by resurrecting from the dead, and then avoided her to continue the game. The guy she probably feels betrayed her the most. But she knows that he really did once love her, and maybe she still loves him, and she also knows that if anyone would be truthful about such a tough question, it might actually be Dan. She's in a bad spot in her "life" and really just searching, YEARNING, for a sliver of hope.

Idk what will happen in stage 15, but it might either be Dan trying to explain her existence to her, or Dan avoiding her again to go fight the Chicken God clerics. Either of which will have DRASTIC effects on Josie's attitude, perspective of life, and role in the overall story/lore and upcoming stages.

1:35 You probably understand how much pain there is in this question. It's more a test of Dan's reaction to the fact that she asked him a question, and that she finally did the impossible - she wrote the text in English. This means other NPC can do this.
Or maybe she only learned about it when she researched in the library
She learn how to type in the book.
And Dan learn how to emoji or taunt by learning skill.
Josie learned to write in chat, and that is now an advantage for her.

Gotta love how the ex-king's taken his new role to heart. Actually changed as a person once he realized all the murder that was happening.
Although now I can't wait to see if Josie can join the multiplayer side or not now, since she seems to have found out about chat.
She was in the multiplayer world in stage 6.

In fact, this series shows the "player" playing "The Ginger Ninja", with another name "Dan The Man". In addition, the characters in this game work with artificial intelligence (including Josie). Also we played the 8-9. stages in the game. This means that we are the "player". And we falled in love with an AI-powered game character. This is so crazy!

All stages are like designed to make you get excited for the next stage now. It's so fantastic to watch them but it needs some patience. Besides everything, good job Halfbrick!

I'm from VietNam and to be honest i've been playing this game since 2017 when it first release but then I quit it because I already finish all the lever in story mod. Now when I suddenly saw this video popped up on my youtube, I realize that I've missed so much cool stuff in this game. Moreover, I really suprise because now the series of Dan the man is now stage 14 and when I watch it, it bring so much nostalgic.

This episode was pure beauty. I just think that after the previously part there should have been a pixelated transition rather than a fading to dark transition because it would seem more retro and like a game rather than just a series.

stage 5 actually she's also the first person besides a player to use it which makes zero sense why an NPC can even access that

Yes, on stage 6, because Dan and Ana were the only players, and Ana disappeared after that stage.

And even though Josie was an NPC, she managed to get out of her programming to find "The Ginger Ninja", and from there learn about the game, making her learn about the chat, and question about her life, she was an NPC finding out that she was an NPC, it kind of freaked out and depending on Dan's answer on stage 15 it could get worse. In this case, it makes sense.

Halfbrick, This Was Real Awesome, I Can’t Wait To See Stage 15!
The canon is a little weird to be honest, in Episode 4 the 2 geezers (According to the wiki) teach Dan how to... Huh... "Thrust" and in the same episode Josie herself teaches dan how to kiss meaning that to a certain point they know how that they are in a videogame, in Episode 6 Dan gets to the MMO part of the game with Josie again, making her notice that she is in a videogame too so for me it's really weird that Josie or any NPC for that matter just know knows that they are in a videogame
Edit: And another thing, NPCs were only able to talk in image form as far as I know since they aren¿t able to "Use chat" so to speak since the only persons who were able to speak with actual words were Dan and Ana in the episode 6 unless Josie is a player but in Episode 6 there wasn't a tag above her head
Exactly because she's in a video game she needs to show him how to do that, but also exactly because she's in a video game she probably doesn't know or realize she's being forced to do that by the game. Basically the very definition of an NPC which is what she is.
