Guessing this ship really isnt worth it for solo since 30ks risk major cargo runs too much, and so much dps depends on turrets. Theres no way to use the turrets while solo on msr or cutties right?
@@Ultrajamz Yeah if you want a ship with a lot of weaps I would go with a Connie Andromeda. The vehicle lift has been improved the last patch so hoping it's good for consistent ROC mining now although probably still flies like a brick. I went with an MSR but that extra firepower of the connies would be nice.
Is there a reason you dropped the eclipse in favor of the js-400 in that updated loadout? Did they nerf that signature reduction on more recent patches? Also, I see why it would be useful to spool and QT real fast but the XL-1 consumption is thru the roof. Would a Hemera be a good choice for mid speed/long range haul (considering we will eventually be getting out of Stanton)? I'm pretty new to this but love to mingle with those builds myself and would love a professional opinion on this idea of mine. Omnisky IX on the nose, keep those turrets as is, switch all the rack to 341 with 2x4 taskforce I and 2x4 spark I, 2x Fr-76, 2x Eclipse, 2x Coolcore and Hemera QT
Also if you're solo and going to toss Sucker punches on a turret just in case you get a friend with you put it on the top turret, it's firing arc is MUCH better then the bottom turret. It can line up and shoot what the pilot is shooting where the bottom can't lift up enough to line up with the pilot.
Thanks for the guide. Been waiting for this one. Pretty bummed they just doubled the Hydrogen tank instead of modifying usage/regen (evo patch notes). For me, the only components I feel like I HAVE to upgrade are the shields and qdrive to a Crossfield, which is FAR better than the XL-1... it's a little slower, but almost 30% more efficient. I completely agree with the weapons... The goal is to _RUN_ , It's not a fighter... most of the time you're just trying to shake off an attacker and the SuckerPunches are great for that.
I use the Suckerpunches for pilot as well, even if Solo I trust my Rattlers, but for gunners I use Attritions or Mantis GTs, got a friend who loves ballistics
My wife loves this ship. We both have a soft spot for the freelancer. She loves camping in the turret at all times. This ship seems like the luxury version of the freelancer. She was bouncing up and down seeing it when it came out. Our rule is we can only buy ships we earn with in game credits sooooo....it may be a bit before we can get this. Lol
I loaded my MSR with the same Quantum Drive, powerplants and coolers but opted for 2 Umbra shields instead of 1 Umbra and 1 Rampart. Apparently I've been paying attention while watching all of your loadout videos.

I think the Hemera (Civilian Grade A) is also a good choice for a QT drive --- if fuel economy is at all important to you. It increases speed by about 52k while maintaining good fuel economy. It also decreases cooldown to 16 seconds and has a 5 second spool up time --- if you're "running" in your Star Runner that helps. a lot.
For testing, I ran two Shredders for the pilot and then overclocked them. Very effective, but ran out off ammo during one mission and had to jump in a turret to finish.
That's pretty similar to my build actually. I went the full class A stealth build, with dual Mirages, and a Spicule Quantum drive. It's a little bit slower, but it uses a little less fuel, and reduces signatures significantly. I have some lightstrike IIIs, but I'm also toying with the idea of Attrition 3s, as they do better dps than the panthers, and have lower EM. I also added the Nightrunner skin since I have it, though playing the Knight Rider them during QT is optional. I also played around with a military build during the PTU.
@@elischrock5356 There are events upcoming that will not probably be repeated for launch. Things like Xeno threat blowing up Port Oli and more than likely things like the mask challenge we had in Oct. I would keep and eye out because I think things like this are going to become more and more common to give people a reason to test the PU to help with bug smashing and just well testing. I play a few hours everyday, 30ks are annoying but frankly they were getting to be much less common before the free fly event. Feel free to not play but I would keep and eye on events at the very least.

And damn. I also use the Sukoran + FR76. If I really need to get stealth, I turn off the FR76. You have sums up how they work. I choosed this combo to run and take a bit of damage. Not to fight back. (the 100% damage absorption of the Sukoran and it's low emission are one key for that). It's one more time really surprising to see you sharing what I use
Your series on how components work is great, I put together a loadout on my msr that was pretty much identical to the one listed here except for the weapons because I prefer ballistics
I really like this build - I eventually settled on a build that was half Class-A stealth, and then half top-of-the-line otherwise (usually industrial or military). While kind of pointless now, eventually the idea is that you could shut off the non-stealth components and become a REAL quiet ship when needed, but otherwise you get the beef of the more powerful components.
Thanx for the guide. I'd made similar choices, but your recommendation for quantum drive is better as is your idea to mix shields. I like the Thunderbolt III missiles for the 313s.
I've been running the stealth build (w/ sukoran, gt220, stealth QT - I forget its name). IR reliably drops down to ~6500, but it does take some time - it went into the 5k range for me once. Since IR drops below 7k I like to also do the stealth QT drive, so my EM doesn't spike above my IR when I spool. I run it mostly for fun, and to see what stealth is like at this stage in dev, but I was pretty impressed with how low it can run for being a ki da big ship (also weapons off, and IR supressed). Side note, fuel consumption is much more efficient at scm and below.
Nice. Pretty much how I was going to outfit my MSR. A bit of stealth stuff to go w/ my Sukoran shield. But man those power plants are expensive! Still working on getting enough aUEC for those. I lost a lot of gear in 3.10 so taking awhile to re-buy it all. Seems every time I logged in some thing(s) were just gone.
The MSR is arguably the sexiest ship in the game at the moment. It can do literally everything and in style. And I love the fact it doesn't have any windows exposing its interiors like the 600i Exploration. Everything is hidden from view and the only window is in the cockpit. I love that.
I am running a Crossfield for Quantum. :) Much better fuel usage. Also with the new missile rules, if you have as mix of missiles it limits how many you can throw. 4 racks, with the same missiles on each rack gives you maximum throw weight.
Mine has an Umbra and a Sukaron. Rest is all stealth A. Have to give it a test to see how low the IR goes. The EM is similar to what would be found on the 325a. Also went with Specule as it has lower IR but I still need to test and see how low that goes. For weaps I put mantis’s on everything.
I could be completely talking out of my ass but from what I’ve noticed it’s whole gimmick is that it gains extra damage when it’s over clocked and specifically overheated so this causes there to be a brief period where you can’t shoot because the guns are cooling though they will be stronger when they be cool back down to fireable levels
Although this would DRASTICALLY mess with game balance. I realize everyone wants their favorite ship to be an unstoppable dealer of death and destruction... but it would be kinda crazy. The MSR’s DPS for a single pilot goes from 1200 to 3600. That’s insane firepower, anything with turrets would be overpowered. It’s different when people team up to man a ship, it promotes group play, and it takes a bit of coordination to keep all turrets on target with 3 people
@@zacharypump5910 I thought about that also, but if we're talking about future tech, it would be more unrealistic not to be able to automate turrets. It's worth taking into consideration that although that's a lot of DPS, it's DPS that's concentrated only at the front of the ship. If you can't keep a small, more nimble ship in front of you, that DPS isn't worth anything. Bigger ships that can't out maneuver you hit harder in return, so they remain a threat as well. I think it could balance out nicely with some tweaking.
Sucker punches have really gotten good all of a sudden. Which is nice seeing they seemed broke for a long time ...had a Hawk on the chopping block, but have since given it a reprieve. Never even knew if you take out an enemy AI ship with emp/suckers you can open doors and shoot the pilots. So a sneaky cargo ship with suckers could enlist it's own fighter escorts after a few fights, free of charge..
I took my MSR a very different direction. I ditched stealth all together and went military all together. Suko + FRs for shields, same QT, js400 power plant and maxed coolers. Guns I run the attritions. Im honestly not sold with them however and will likely try your guns. My build is fully solo pilot PvE as well though so the builds are pointed different direction. I used to use military grade components but after my cooler and power-plant guide I realized I was wasting aUEC and stealth emissions for 0 benefit to performance. Until they are more fleshed out I've decided to go stealth if said ship has redundant components. If not then military is the way to go.
Huh, i have the stealth build equipped, I don't pvp in the MSR though, i have enough combat ships... but yeah, coupled with it's speed, i'll stick with full stealth grade components for now, unless i start toting 2 gunners around more often
Honestly the main difference between my stealth build and the regular is the shields. Not sure id rock 2 Umbras. I do have a suk equipped with it though.

Interesting... regarding the power plants, you say that we don't need the 12.500 MWs max draw, and that got me wondering wether or not the server racks are actually drawing the full amount of power already, or wether they might be in a "low power mode" until the data running gameplay goes live... Because why would the MSR come standard with such massive powerplants if there were absolutely no call for a total of 25.000 MW max draw? I'm guessing that this might indeed be down to Scanner room and Server room functionality, which might in the future add a much higher power requirement, especially when the scanning suite is fully operational and running. Thoughts?
Components that aren't implemented yet certainly dont draw any power right now. I create load-outs for today because they will become obsolete very quickly in this alpha.
I swapped my size 3 missile racks for size 1 and run all electromagnetic. Dominator 2's and marksman 1's . As I can use one marksman at a time to bait out their chaf , as small and medium ships do not have much chaf and it keeps them distracted . Once their chaf is done I can missile dump on em with that is left

Why no Attritions Laser? They are much better then the CF oder the FL-33 since the last update. And you can overheath them for even more DPS, but I would be interesting which coolers you would recomence for supporting all the Attritions.
Good video, But my suggestion, especially for single player, is the pilot control front guns. Should 2 size 5 or 2 size 4 gimbal. Especially for this size ship.

Hey Subliminal! The msr chrews through fuel lile some people chew through chips / crisps. What level is the best to keep the manual thruster adjustment percentage at? To maintain decent thruster output and keep hydrogen consuntion low. Also whats your current favourite fighter?
I did a casual test, running from Lathan to Bezdek and back - filling up to 100% before returning. I ran ~198 m/s on the way there, and full speed on the way back. It was a causal test, but it appeared to use 25-30% less full running at or below scm. In fact, I couldn't even finish the test because it was clear that it would not make the trip back - it would run out of fuel.
It's not kilo per second, it simply cannot be since kilo is a unit multiplier not a unit itself (the trivial kilo, short for kilogram is not an official unit). It is Kelvins per second, which is a standard unit of cooling capacity used today. Usually Kelvin per hour is used when you talk air conditioners etc.
THE FOLLOWING IS AN AUTO RESPONSE: k is NOT Kelvin. Our sun is 5,000 degrees Kelvin. The S3 ChillMax Coolers cool at a rate of 17,600,000/s. That's per SECOND. Erkul.Games displays this as 17,600k cooling/s because 17,600,000 is just a ridiculously long arbitrary number that breaks design UI. When I say kilo per second I am not giving a unit of measurement because this is a video game, code does not have units of measurement. We can label the numbers with a unit but that's not for the game that's just for us. Kilo: Kilo is a decimal unit prefix in the metric system denoting multiplication by one thousand. It is used in the International System of Units, where it has the symbol k , in lower case. Kelvin: Kelvin is the base unit of temperature in the International System of Units, having the unit symbol K .
FR is still good but with the umbra I never lost a shield facing unless something crazy happened. We are undefeated if you ignore the asteroid or 2 that killed us. "Fuckers come out of nowhere!"
If you don't have 2 extra people w/ you; being stealthy is the way to go. Such a big ship to only have two size 3 weapons isn't gonna win any dogfights against a real fighter. (I hope computer controlled turret upgrades come sooner than later) While I like the turret for the pilot weapons, I kinda wish I had the option of 2 fixed size 4 guns. And only 4 size 3 missile hard-points seems low too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know combat isn't its mission BUT we don't have data-running yet so specialized ships like this should get a combat boost until their real role is available. Then when that game-play IS available, lower the combat stats to where they should be.
So is there not a bonus anymore for pairing 2 of the same sheild generator? And if there still is I'm guessing the benefits of hybrid setup outweight doubling up?
To my knowledge there has never been a double up benefit. And the hybrid benefit is not what it used to be. Each shield adds to the facing pool independently. Doubling up on 2 shields with shit regen means your regen will be super shit. Doubling up on 2 shields with a quick regen that also have shit health pools means double the shit health pools. Doubling up on a great shield is just great. Spliting them allows for precise customization. Umbra Sukoran has a good quick initial burst of shields after an attack but is tanky enough to keep you alive.
Please help me understand in terms of shields why not just roll with double FR-76? You get 49 586 of total pool and 610/s regen. Compared to Your proposition: (Rampart + Umbra): 44 481 of total pool and regen of 519/s. Both max pool and regen are inferior to 2x FRs. Can someone explain that to me why would I go with that solution instead?
You can totally do that. But please help me understand. Out of all of the tabs on the #DPSCalculator you choose only 2 to decide what shield to use? There is damage regen delay, downed delay, request time. These all effect how quickly your shields can regen. Some more so than the regen rate itself. If your not at least pairing the FR-76 with either a Rampart, Umbra, or Sukoran your doing yourself a disservice. Not saying dual FR-76 isn't a viable shield combo, just saying your recovery time is limited in an actual fight.
well, now we only need to Rip out Living quarters, Server and Scanner room and the underbelly and replace it with a hydrogen tank for this Fuel Guzzeler, and we are fine lol
This would be awesome if SC would stop deleting all my in game purchased components. Everyday I log in, I'm missing an XL-1 here or a FR-76 there....I also lost pledged paint for my MSR....smh.
do a character reset. happened to me, had to reset for another reason but i logged on and all my components were back. although now I'm the proud owner of 4 ramparts, 3 crossfields, and quite a few mantis'
Has anyone had an issue where the pilot weapons just stop working on the MSR? I have no idea why and they don't work again until getting the ship fresh from dock

Hello I was hoping someone could help me out. I have been on and off the game for years but still some what noobish at a fault. I would like a good tanky load out for the mercury. I typically solo anyways and what can any of you suggest to make it tanky and fast. I have no desire to stay in a fight with this ship solo. I just want to get the hell out of there and take a beating if it arrives.

I put attrition 3 on nose turret. At size 3 they almost never overheat. Also over lock damage is great when you need it

I wished we could rip out most of the lower deck and install a bigger fuel tank there.
A fix is coming on 3.12. All fuel issues will be resolved
I am running a Crossfield for Quantum. :) Much better fuel usage.
Also with the new missile rules, if you have as mix of missiles it limits how many you can throw. 4 racks, with the same missiles on each rack gives you maximum throw weight.

Mine has an Umbra and a Sukaron. Rest is all stealth A. Have to give it a test to see how low the IR goes. The EM is similar to what would be found on the 325a. Also went with Specule as it has lower IR but I still need to test and see how low that goes. For weaps I put mantis’s on everything.
What's the catch with Attrition repeaters? I noticed they have a higher DPS with the same max range as the CF repeaters according to DPS calculator
I could be completely talking out of my ass but from what I’ve noticed it’s whole gimmick is that it gains extra damage when it’s over clocked and specifically overheated so this causes there to be a brief period where you can’t shoot because the guns are cooling though they will be stronger when they be cool back down to fireable levels

Anything above 500m starts to lose dps. It's a close range weapon through and through.

I would like to see SC do something like E:D, and allow pilots to slave turrets to their reticle when they aren't manned.

Although this would DRASTICALLY mess with game balance. I realize everyone wants their favorite ship to be an unstoppable dealer of death and destruction... but it would be kinda crazy. The MSR’s DPS for a single pilot goes from 1200 to 3600. That’s insane firepower, anything with turrets would be overpowered. It’s different when people team up to man a ship, it promotes group play, and it takes a bit of coordination to keep all turrets on target with 3 people
@@zacharypump5910 I thought about that also, but if we're talking about future tech, it would be more unrealistic not to be able to automate turrets. It's worth taking into consideration that although that's a lot of DPS, it's DPS that's concentrated only at the front of the ship. If you can't keep a small, more nimble ship in front of you, that DPS isn't worth anything. Bigger ships that can't out maneuver you hit harder in return, so they remain a threat as well. I think it could balance out nicely with some tweaking.

Sucker punches have really gotten good all of a sudden. Which is nice seeing they seemed broke for a long time ...had a Hawk on the chopping block, but have since given it a reprieve. Never even knew if you take out an enemy AI ship with emp/suckers you can open doors and shoot the pilots. So a sneaky cargo ship with suckers could enlist it's own fighter escorts after a few fights, free of charge..
I took my MSR a very different direction. I ditched stealth all together and went military all together. Suko + FRs for shields, same QT, js400 power plant and maxed coolers. Guns I run the attritions. Im honestly not sold with them however and will likely try your guns. My build is fully solo pilot PvE as well though so the builds are pointed different direction. I used to use military grade components but after my cooler and power-plant guide I realized I was wasting aUEC and stealth emissions for 0 benefit to performance. Until they are more fleshed out I've decided to go stealth if said ship has redundant components. If not then military is the way to go.

Huh, i have the stealth build equipped, I don't pvp in the MSR though, i have enough combat ships... but yeah, coupled with it's speed, i'll stick with full stealth grade components for now, unless i start toting 2 gunners around more often
Honestly the main difference between my stealth build and the regular is the shields. Not sure id rock 2 Umbras. I do have a suk equipped with it though.

Interesting... regarding the power plants, you say that we don't need the 12.500 MWs max draw, and that got me wondering wether or not the server racks are actually drawing the full amount of power already, or wether they might be in a "low power mode" until the data running gameplay goes live...
Because why would the MSR come standard with such massive powerplants if there were absolutely no call for a total of 25.000 MW max draw?
I'm guessing that this might indeed be down to Scanner room and Server room functionality, which might in the future add a much higher power requirement, especially when the scanning suite is fully operational and running.

Components that aren't implemented yet certainly dont draw any power right now. I create load-outs for today because they will become obsolete very quickly in this alpha.

I swapped my size 3 missile racks for size 1 and run all electromagnetic. Dominator 2's and marksman 1's . As I can use one marksman at a time to bait out their chaf , as small and medium ships do not have much chaf and it keeps them distracted . Once their chaf is done I can missile dump on em with that is left

Those are only good at short range. You should be keeping your distance in this ship.
Love to see few loadout for beginners ship like nomad love msr and start use nomad as find it fun pve bounty and nice change of pace

Why no Attritions Laser? They are much better then the CF oder the FL-33 since the last update. And you can overheath them for even more DPS, but I would be interesting which coolers you would recomence for supporting all the Attritions.
Good video, But my suggestion, especially for single player, is the pilot control front guns. Should 2 size 5 or 2 size 4 gimbal. Especially for this size ship.
Not every ship needs to be a combat ship....

Hey Subliminal! The msr chrews through fuel lile some people chew through chips / crisps. What level is the best to keep the manual thruster adjustment percentage at? To maintain decent thruster output and keep hydrogen consuntion low.

I did a casual test, running from Lathan to Bezdek and back - filling up to 100% before returning. I ran ~198 m/s on the way there, and full speed on the way back. It was a causal test, but it appeared to use 25-30% less full running at or below scm. In fact, I couldn't even finish the test because it was clear that it would not make the trip back - it would run out of fuel.
Other than landing or ROC mining I just decouple, it makes a world of difference to fuel consumption.

It's not kilo per second, it simply cannot be since kilo is a unit multiplier not a unit itself (the trivial kilo, short for kilogram is not an official unit). It is Kelvins per second, which is a standard unit of cooling capacity used today. Usually Kelvin per hour is used when you talk air conditioners etc.
THE FOLLOWING IS AN AUTO RESPONSE: k is NOT Kelvin. Our sun is 5,000 degrees Kelvin. The S3 ChillMax Coolers cool at a rate of 17,600,000/s. That's per SECOND. Erkul.Games displays this as 17,600k cooling/s because 17,600,000 is just a ridiculously long arbitrary number that breaks design UI. When I say kilo per second I am not giving a unit of measurement because this is a video game, code does not have units of measurement. We can label the numbers with a unit but that's not for the game that's just for us.
Kilo: Kilo is a decimal unit prefix in the metric system denoting multiplication by one thousand. It is used in the International System of Units, where it has the symbol k , in lower case.
Kelvin: Kelvin is the base unit of temperature in the International System of Units, having the unit symbol K .
Exactly my build (FR shield). Everything else is the same. Bought the stuff as soon as 3.1 went live.
FR is still good but with the umbra I never lost a shield facing unless something crazy happened. We are undefeated if you ignore the asteroid or 2 that killed us. "Fuckers come out of nowhere!"
If you don't have 2 extra people w/ you; being stealthy is the way to go. Such a big ship to only have two size 3 weapons isn't gonna win any dogfights against a real fighter. (I hope computer controlled turret upgrades come sooner than later) While I like the turret for the pilot weapons, I kinda wish I had the option of 2 fixed size 4 guns. And only 4 size 3 missile hard-points seems low too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know combat isn't its mission BUT we don't have data-running yet so specialized ships like this should get a combat boost until their real role is available. Then when that game-play IS available, lower the combat stats to where they should be.

So is there not a bonus anymore for pairing 2 of the same sheild generator? And if there still is I'm guessing the benefits of hybrid setup outweight doubling up?
To my knowledge there has never been a double up benefit. And the hybrid benefit is not what it used to be. Each shield adds to the facing pool independently. Doubling up on 2 shields with shit regen means your regen will be super shit. Doubling up on 2 shields with a quick regen that also have shit health pools means double the shit health pools. Doubling up on a great shield is just great. Spliting them allows for precise customization. Umbra Sukoran has a good quick initial burst of shields after an attack but is tanky enough to keep you alive.
Please help me understand in terms of shields why not just roll with double FR-76? You get 49 586 of total pool and 610/s regen. Compared to Your proposition: (Rampart + Umbra): 44 481 of total pool and regen of 519/s. Both max pool and regen are inferior to 2x FRs. Can someone explain that to me why would I go with that solution instead?
You can totally do that. But please help me understand. Out of all of the tabs on the #DPSCalculator you choose only 2 to decide what shield to use? There is damage regen delay, downed delay, request time. These all effect how quickly your shields can regen. Some more so than the regen rate itself. If your not at least pairing the FR-76 with either a Rampart, Umbra, or Sukoran your doing yourself a disservice. Not saying dual FR-76 isn't a viable shield combo, just saying your recovery time is limited in an actual fight.

This would be awesome if SC would stop deleting all my in game purchased components. Everyday I log in, I'm missing an XL-1 here or a FR-76 there....I also lost pledged paint for my MSR....smh.

Has anyone had an issue where the pilot weapons just stop working on the MSR? I have no idea why and they don't work again until getting the ship fresh from dock
I've been running into that quite a bit on bounty hunts, I assumed the guns were getting destroyed but they visibly look fine.

Hello I was hoping someone could help me out. I have been on and off the game for years but still some what noobish at a fault. I would like a good tanky load out for the mercury. I typically solo anyways and what can any of you suggest to make it tanky and fast. I have no desire to stay in a fight with this ship solo. I just want to get the hell out of there and take a beating if it arrives.
