  • Starting with the idea to create a coffee capsule without capsule, Caroline's talk addresses the global waste problem by coffee capsules. She tells you how she and her team started to research on natural materials and why alginate was in the end a perfect match for a plant-based shell around portioned coffee. Caroline inspires the use of alginates as biodegradable primary packaging material and why algae have great potential as the raw material of the future. Caroline is a R&D Food technologist with a PhD in Flavor research. She is a curious, passionate and outgoing food and coffee lover, working within research and development of coffee products for the last 10 years. Known for creating a ball with coffee, fully plant-based, fully compostable. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
