I love "feathering my nest" with thrifted items! And you found just the perfect pieces! The chest looks very nice in its new home underneath the window, too. Your kitty has probably already claimed that spot for a lookout, lol!

That was a great deal on the coffee table and end tables. A lot of people don't like "wood" furniture in its natural state or stained. They want to paint everything. Back in the 50's, my mom said that everyone was painting their woodwork and trim with glossy white paint to make their homes look newer and refreshed. 25, 30 years later and everyone was trying to get that horrible glossy white paint stripped off the woodwork and trim. I expect, eventually, people will be trying to strip the paint off the furniture of today. I happen to love wood. I prefer it to painted furniture. I think it's fine to paint something that is really damaged and can't be brought back to its former self, but otherwise, a good cleaning and some wax or furniture polish wakes up wood furniture. I would look for what are actually called coffee table books. Larger size and usually have beautiful photos of nature or similar. Some people sit things on the books in lieu of a tray, although you have room for both on your coffee table. Some nice coasters to keep your table safe would be good. Anything on the lower side, rather than tall, because it interferes with your view from one sofa to someone sitting on the other sofa. I think your coiled candle would look good on the other end table and I love the elephants and the carousel on the other end table. A lamp would be nice too. You have added flat surfaces to decorate. That is something I am short of and also, with 4 cats, I have to be careful what I decorate with. They think I do it for them and have to check things out real close before giving their approval.

I actually think wood furniture is beautiful, I am not against painted but I usually prefer the more "natural" look of the wood, I love seeing the details of the grains and knots. I agree with you as well, I think paint is great if you have a piece that is damaged but want to still preserve it for use! I try to use a wood cleaner or polish to keep my wood beautiful and healthy looking :). I definitely need to get some coffee table books! I will keep my eye out for some, I agree to on keeping things lower on the table, I will be trying to figure out what I want on there. I actually thought of adding a lamp to my end table as well! I want to find one that suits the style of my living room. I can understand needing to be careful with animals, one reason that I have so many washable rugs is that it is easier to keep them up since Sammy brings in so much dust from outside and his shedding hair, we love him so much though I don't mind, I just am thankful for washable things for sure! Can't wait to see where you place it & style it! Do you have any coffee table books or larger books? They would look nice on the coffee table, also the large bible you bought would be really pretty on it with maybe a small plant or a candle sitting a doilie. Or if you have A basket or small wood box you could use that & put remotes or coasters in it along with the books or bible. A pretty lamp would be nice on the a side table or a matching pair, one on each. You'll figure it out tho, keep trying things til your satisfied! I get inspo from watching the Utube videos. We're staying with my son & his wife while we're looking for a home. They have A Frenchie that's white with black spots..girrrrl the amount of white dog hair that comes off that dog is unbelievable😳 They only have carpet in the bedrooms, i don't let him come in my room at all! But keeping this house swept, and its a nice size house, is a job! Again, love your new pieces & thanks for sharing with us! Hope you have a blessed week my friend!😊

I definitely need to find some coffee table books, I thought about putting my large Bible there but we eat and drink in the Living Room often so I was worried about accidentally spilling stuff on it, I REALLY love my Bible and want to be careful with it lol. I definitely want to add a lamp to my side table! I need to keep my eye out for one. I completely understand living with others! We stayed with my sister and brother-in-law for about a year before we got our home, I watched videos and looked on Pinterest all the time for home ideas to prepare for when I had a house someday :). Dog hair is just a part of our home to! Sammy sheds so much, I feel like he should be bald at this point he has so much to shed off lol. Keeping the floor clean here is also quite a job! I actually thrifted coffee table books with pictures that i can take out & frame.. several Currier & Ives, a big one with all sorts of antiques, several others.. so they kind of serve 2 purposes. They have a robot vac too & it helps but not near enough for me😄 We hope to not be here for me than 9mths, we're just praying. We were actually planning on a year so we could really save up, but since we now have the 2 grandbabies its just a lot! The only have 3brms.. theirs, the nursery for their 11mth old & the one we're in. Thank God they have a nice garage where we can keep things & a sectional that turns into a queen bed.. or we'd be in t real trouble😬 We'll take a simple 2bd right now, but if the Lord blesses, a 3bd would be amazing!😉
