Quick tip for movement without interrupting If you set force move to your scroll wheel, Diablo does not count that as pushing anything down so your skills still go off and if you have a mouse like me , Logitech G502 with infinite scroll, you can move around super quick without interrupting your abilities.
Damn Fluffy, thx! I knew about numlock for years, but I was struggling with turning it off and on again while teleporting etc. Lerning something new every day. Thx again!
nice, now I can portal w/o turning off #-lock...you know how many times I've started a G rift w/o reengaging number lock because I turned it off to portal....You the Man Fluff.
You are the man Fluffy. YOU ARE!!! Teleporting and identifying always bother me when I have my num lock on..... That won't happen again! Thank you, man~ Really appreciate it!
Technical: you don’t need to release at the same time. Release numlock before 3 and it works. Explanation: when you press the num “3” button and change numlock, you’re actually releasing the. “End” key. The num “3” are never released and Diablo assumes that it’s still pressed. To release, activate numlock and press/release the “3” button. Numlock key are never seen by diablo. This is what diablo receives: keydown(num3), keyup(End)
Lord Fluffy. I love you man! Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was really lazy and never really took the time to learn about the Num Lock trick. Now I can go back to my necromancer and not dread devour!
You can also pause it using the chat box by pressing enter to open chat and this is useful because some skills have a really low cooldown and that makes the map trick difficult. However, with the chat pause trick you can still interact with the game world while its paused and that means you can pause it before you start casting town portal. To do this you press enter to open chat then use the mouse to click on the town portal icon in the bottom bar (just remember to close chat again before you get back into the fight). Secondly, some builds that require you to hold down the same attack button constantly will still work with the num lock trick just not as intended. What I mean by that is with my AO sage db farm wizard for example I am constantly holding shift+left mouse to spam my generator, I use teleport (right click) to move around, I cast my Arcane Orb whenever I see an enemy, and I use the num lock on that just fine even though I never let go of shift+left mouse. The catch is it is not working as it normally does and instead of trying to cast those skills at all times it only casts then when I press a skill other than the left mouse (that I am holding at all times). So instead of constantly having it go off when I use my wiz they only go off when I teleport and/or use Arcane Orb but I do those often enough that I still don't lose my tals set bonus because I teleport to move. I also play a similar way on my dh UE MS fire build where I constantly spam generator, use vault to move, and use multi shot whenever I see an enemy. With my dh build I move with vault/use multi shot often enough that I could easily have num lock control my companion and veng while keeping veng perm (I do it when my fingers get sore). So if you use those builds or a similar build and you play like I do num lock might still be usable without changing your play style.
You can set up a macro with something like Razer Synapse 2.0 (assuming you use a Razer keyboard) so at the press of a button you can switch the num locked keys on and off. Takes 2 minutes to set up and saves the TAB'ing. Set up the macro to press your skill keys on the num pad (press all of them at the same time), set the key press to continuous, then save the macro. Enter the game, press num lock and hey presto, your macro key now turns the skills on and off.
Fluff, the numlock trick is a macro. The definition of a macro:- A macro instruction is a line of computer program coding that results in one or more lines of program coding in the target programming language. Now, granted this macro is one built into your keyboard (not all keyboards have a numpad, so there could be an unfair advantage argument), but a macro nonetheless. I very much doubt Blizzard will ever state the numlock trick is ok to use as they would essentially be saying 'this macro (numlock) is fine, this macro is not'. I'm willing to bet this is why the debate continues to rage on the forums over the legality of the numlock trick without a whisper from Blizzard to clarify. It would be nice if someone with a louder voice (wink wink) were to ask Blizzard to clarify......
Fluffy, every time you make the same mistake. You don't need to release the two buttons at the same time. Hold num3, then press numlock, release numlock and then you release num3. If you release the two buttons at the same time this trick wont work every time. When you press numlock it doesn't matter what are you doing with the num buttons after that.
I am back to D3 after 4 years. I did not know about that. :D I just watched a guide which mentioned num lock trick and started searching. Ha ha it is definitely saving your fingers and keyboard. :D Spamming buttons mindlessly is not supposed to be the game it is not stacraft. :)
Num lock doesn't cast as fast. If you time your button press the moment it is available, it goes off, but if you hold/spam/numlock it, it will get a 0.5 second delay. This is why crusaders should manually condemn if they're pushing high.
This just depends on keyboard settings, really. Most gaming keyboards come with a "clicks per second" type of setting that changes who quickly it re-registers presses. If you increase that rate, this works for condemn as well. (Just don't try typing while its on, lol)
Amazing stuff been playing this game for a few years now never knew about the trick by the way the time 3 ‘rd I play Necro so i am new to it and I hope so season 22 to bring some fun thanks a lot Definitely like and subscribe I watch some of your content amazing and really helpful
A quick note, Alt + Tab (when you switch between tasks in Windows) remove the Num-Lock trick, so you have to do it again. With necro Devour this "Tab solution" needs some practice :D
Not sure if you're saying you sometimes alt tab, but a few points just in case: I have my map button bound to one of my mouse buttons (I have a razer). This is super comfortable and fast. There are two map keybinds...one of htem is world map the other is "local". I bind the local one because you can just right click to get to world map quickly. No one really uses alt..there is a setting that lets items just always appear, so no need to ever push it. Not sure if either of those effect you just trying to help. Also if you don't have a razor mouse... you can always use mouse buttons 4 and 5, most mice have them. If you don't have those either... I'm sure you can still find something. I've personally never ran the default keybinds because I like having tab for "force stand still". It's super comfortable to keep my pinky there, and that's important on long grind sessions.
People commenting about macroing the keys with third-party software, although I've never heard about anyone getting banned for those, any application of that type goes against the ToS/EULA.
the num lock is great and thank you!! my question is where to you put force stop other than shift (force move is space, correct?) i sometimes run builds with travelers and need to stop and move. Thanks for the help (and for some of us very very noobs you should sell the macros ..smile)
Hey fluffy, am I correct in assuming that this will still work for me? I’m left handed and use the keypad numbers for all 4 skills, but I’m thinking if I num-lock 1 key the other keypad keys will still work as they should?
30 seconds Google search... gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/33000/using-game-trainers-on-a-laptop-without-numlock-or-numpad If this doesnt work, then search some more.
can you do bounties with this? i can't bring up the map and select a new waypoint - the tp never start i don't get the chance to press tab again to make it work. does this mean i have to go to town after every bounty event?
hello, is it possible to put 2 skills on numlock and in a certain time window? For example, in condemning crusaders .... punish and bid the hope of every 4 sec autocast
Last question, I'm pretty sure I know the answer already, but there is not a similar "trick" for console is there? And I usually move by holding right click down so in order to do the num lock trick I gotta do the click to move? Thanks again
So let's say for a charge or hota barb, which skills would I be able to num lock or whatever? I haven't heard of this numlock stuff until I saw this video posted lol
Vaje it's not about channelling, its about the way your computer reads inputs. If there is another key held down it won't register both presses, so you have to tap your other buttons repeatedly instead.
^This is why he teaches you the map trick. Using the map trick you only have to do the numlock trick once per gaming sessions (Unless you minimize diablo or stop it with the numpad yourself)
Yeah ok, now, how to turn off your character saying "give it more time or I must wait" every 30 seconds with out turning the volume or voice down? Because I do want to hear other npc voices.
@@LordFluffy1 If Blizzard would care about cheaters they would get banned. Automatic spamming skills, walking and killing monsters is just cheating. Some people use the excuse it hurts their hands to push keys. Than don't play the game or use bot so you don't have to use mouse aswell
Leo Hardy as long as you can do gr70 or higher in avg 2 minutes or anything above ( f.e. swk wol can do this easy solo with no paragon or ofc 2 -4 p rathma runs) , then grs give you the most legendaries. When you cant then you should do public rifts on t13.
Hey Lovemusic don't know if you will see this but may be beneficial to other console players. I just started recently on ps4 but I ended up having devour bound to r2, as long as I kept the r2 button held down it yields the same effect although not to the same degree as you lose a finger lol. Fluffy great video, I'm learning more and more each day xD
Mate... there's no doctored footage here. I've literally used this trick for years. If you're expecting the numlock trick to reset your cooldowns to be instant.. that's not what this is.. proton2020 what are you not understanding mate? Literally hundreds of thousands of people are using this trick to cast abilities off cool down. There’s no secret here or gimmick. I think you’re misunderstanding what num lock is doing here.
Over 2 years later and I'm still linking people to this video
what would you do for this build in seaosn 22 ??
Still helping the community with these videos. Blessed.
You can also press enter to temporarily disable numlocked keys. Once you press escape, it will start auto-casting the skills.

I dont get it?
When u have to go to town or identify items, u can just active the chat and then use what u have to. It's clean and easier to use
Jonathas FC a nice alternative yes, but the tab is the easiest in my opinion, enter is on the wrong side of the keyboard! :p
Thanks Fluff! Have been watching a few videos on the same thing but yours is more simplified yet full on. Much needed, great video even after 3 years.

Can you use num lock on D3 for the switch?
Can numlock be replaced with a built in macro from the logitech mouse?
hello, is it possible to put 2 skills on numlock and in a certain time window? For example, in condemning crusaders .... punish and bid the hope of every 4 sec autocast
nope
Is there a way to turn off “need more time” or “not ready yet”
you can just lower the voice volume on optiions
Take a makro and put it on a mouse button (logitech) - so chill.
macros technically violate the diablo TOS
Lord Fluffy That is sad because it only does what you showed in the video (with the num pad) with one mouse button :/

I don't play console but I've heard of people assigning spammy skills to triggers and just holding them down

OneKnight1234 wotb, warcry, ip. If you wanted that is
Ok cool, thanks. Love your videos btw
I haven’t owned a keyboard with numlock in years. Fuck full sized keyboards!
So, what would you say the other 5% of num lock not working? I literally stand still, try to set it up, and it doesn't work...
how can i do this if i dont have a num lock im using a laptop
get a 5$ external keyboard?
Usb keyboard
how does this work with a laptop that doesnt have numpad keys
+1
will Numlock stop while im holding corpse lance, like in the rift guardian? its not a channelling ability
you cannot hold down any skill while using numlock!
Vaje it's not about channelling, its about the way your computer reads inputs. If there is another key held down it won't register both presses, so you have to tap your other buttons repeatedly instead.
I'd rather press one button once in 10 minutes than had to press tab button always during any interaction
Can someone tell me why I can't num lock corpse lance with devour and LOD?
you should only ever numlock devour on a necro, maybe command skeletons as a znec/poison scythe
Is there another way to do this if you don't have a numpad?
On PC there are macros but that technically violates TOS. Console unfortunately has nothing
BRO they made emotes for the game!!!! Its 2021!!! Num buttons make the guys wave their arms around

I dont have numlock on my laptop...
random question why do u have no skills set on the 4 key? haha i notice weird shit
I use the razer naga hex and the 4 is less comfortable than others
What happens if you dont have a keypad on your keyboard?
get one! or just RIP Hand
Fluff, if I start the numlock in town and go into a GR will it still be going or will I have to reactivate once inside?
it will stay engaged when you enter the rift

Yeah ok, now, how to turn off your character saying "give it more time or I must wait" every 30 seconds with out turning the volume or voice down? Because I do want to hear other npc voices.
