This is so true, some of my favorite books no one will ever care about. Volume 1 of Carebears.... Also I love UK copies for years would get them super cheap now people started marking them up oh well still love them.
Ive been a collector since I was a teen in the late 70s. I agree with most of your picks except for one. To me Iron Man #128 is a must read. I grew up with an alcoholic father & I really didnt know what was going on. This book laid it all out & helped me see that none of this was my fault...Marvel books have always had a way of injevting real life struggles into the superhero action...i wouldnt trade my collection for anything!!

I had to laugh real hard, thanks for sharing your "List of comics that a true collector must have". It made me think, what other comics could be a part of such a collection? Here are some of my ideas: - A favorite comic story. Something that is just you. Maybe no one else loves it, but you do and you read it again and again and again. A cover that you just love, love, love. Here I pick Daredevil 181, death of Elektra. Though I also really love Superman Batman 13, a gorgeous Turner cover of Supergirl with the blue Earth and sky behind her. And as a bonus: - Something from the Marvel Ultimate Universe. My pick is Ultimates 1 (2002), because that is so linked to the MCU. Bonus points if you have the Ultimates 1 Dynamic Forces variant signed by Millar and Hitch! - Something from either Crisis on Infinite Earths or Secret Wars. One of THE two major crossover events from the 1980s. Both are iconic in their own right.
Can’t wait for part 2. There are many more books that will fall into this category. Great idea. 7/10. No Turok, Darkhawk or Gibbon for me. One day I’ll be a real collector.

I’m happy if I fell under 6 I would have had to give up comics and walk the earth like David Carradine. 😂q: do you think the uptick in value of ASM 300 over the past couple of years nullifies its “core” status ? To me core is basic and some of these prices now for that book is anything but basic 😂

I’m mostly Marvel but I like to have a variety of genres in my collection- “Funny animals” (the Mickey Mouse qualifies), a war comic, a horror comic, a sci-fi comic, a crime, a romance, a weird independent comic, and everyone should have at least one Archie comic (digests count) If you’ve got those, you’re a real collector!
hi reggie,,great video i have 3 out of 10...so far..question found a tomb of dracula 1,,excellent condition looks like and 8.0 , it has a half hole punch bottom right of a star all the way thru pages,, will they accept this or give lower grade..just wondering should i send...thanks if you can answer this..
Yes the hole will impact the grade. How much? Honestly not certain because I’ve never submitted a book with that defect. Either way, congrats and good luck.
Turok 1 from Valiant is so core to a collection that I hand it out to some kid the second one shows up in my collection just to be rid of it. Btw, bonus bonus points if you have a copy that's a 6.0 or worse and you get it graded. 😉

Regie, this was a funny video, however I have only one of those books, ASM#300. That was near the time I stopped collecting and almost all the other books were 90s. I believe that I still qualify and surpassed since not only do I have that last bonus book, but ALL three consecutive issues that the Gibbin appears: the TRI-Fecta.... Thank you...
Still amazes me that spawn went from a dollar back issue book to a highly sought-after collector's book. I had the black and white cover 9.8 and got it for $100. Now it's going for substantially more.
Mad props on DH #1! I liked the read! I think it was issue 9 when he took his helmet off and revealed an alien's face. That's when I realized the amulet did not just give him a suit.
Hey, that was fun! OK, down to cases now. I have (including the bonus book) 9 out of 11 books shown here. I don't have Darkhawk or Mickey Mouse. I do have two books called the "Uncensored mouse" which is mickey collected comic strips from newspapers. I used to have Darkhawk but I traded them some years back with others books. All in all, I'm in pretty good shape. You know Reggie, you could have just pointed to the books on the wall behind you!! Thanks for posting this fun diversion. I think also having a book from any toy line is a must have like Micronauts, Rom,Transformers, heck even Shogun Warriors or Care bears lol. Also any book you will not give up no matter how much you are offered. I call them well loved books.

I feel like you're Missing: ASM #365 and #375, Venom Lethal Protector #1 and both the Death of Superman #75 and Adventures of Superman #500, specifically black and white polybagged versions. Those are 5 I feel like every collector has or should have in their collection.
I guess I gotta step up my game lol. The only one I have is xmen 1 cover a. I never got Spawn 1 back in the day but did get Spawn 2. I would say a must for Doctor Who collectors is the 1966 Doctor Who and the Daleks. Its one on my list that I am looking for a good copy.

Turok- great ! I actually think the whole Valiant universe is under collected- some great story lines. Maybe a studio will pick up Valiant and make some first class Archer and Armstrong, Dr Solar, X-O Manowar movies !

Great show! I have these ones: Batman 609 (plus the entire hush run including vaiants), Walt Disney's Mickey and Donald #8, Batman #612 but my favoite Superman Cover has to be #204, Turok #1, Multiples of all 3 Spider-Man #1's (1 Gold Cover recently signed by the Toddfather himslef), Spawn #1, ASM #300 (Facsimile only unfortunately, so not sure if it counts. The OG is on my wish list), X-Men #1 (All copies and multiples), Batman #429 (I belive it's the last Death in the Family). No Darkhawk in the collection so I guess I have something to chase down so I can check it off the list.
Okay Regie, I have all of the books you mention except, wait for it, Darkhawk #1. I have a few of his later issues due to a crossover with a favorite character but Darkhawk was just too much 90's, if that is possible, for me. But since you mentioned it, (Swagglehaus is another streamer with a fixation on this issue), I will give in and get a copy. 😂 This episode was informative and entertaining. All of your picks were excellent. I loved that you put in Gold Key. Maybe one honorable mention would be something from Harvey comics like Richie Rich and Casper the Friendly Ghost which dominated in the 1960's, 1970's. And who can forget Archie Comics with the world's oldest teenager still being published to this day? Another well done video Regie.

"True Collector" lol I took notes, lol... I probably have 5 or 6 of these. I'm sure I have some Mickey Mouse, but the more memorable for me are the old Woody Woodpecker comics, I have a few of those. Lots of classic Superman covers, I prefer those over newer covers. Turok, I know I have... but Ninjak and Magnus Robot Fighter should qualify as well. Spidey & Spawn #1's are must haves, as well as ASM 298-300 (I still need a 300). X-Men #1 I have all versions. Batman Death in the family is what I first thought of when you brought up Hush. ASM #110 I don't have, but I do have some earlier classic issues. Lastly, for me... The Watchmen needs to be on this list. Fun video... Thanks ;)
I guess the title should be “Must have comics for Kids that Grew up in the 90s”. I can only relate because I came back to collecting in 91 after taking a decade off to go to college, get married, etc. But my alternative recommendations to yours would of course have a 70s flavor to it which is when I was growing up.
I think I have at least half a short box of that Turok #1 lol. Spiderman #1's are probably the other half of that short box. I know I have Spawn 1 but might be hard to find amongst the many boxes of Image comics I rarely touch. X-Men #1 I just got the "Collectors" edition graded 9..8 and yes I got the custom X-Men label for it. Death in the family... yea got that series maybe even 2 of them. Venom Lethal Protector is a must have for this list.
I have most of these. And, I know the video is a joke, but Spawn 1 & X-Men 1 are legit must owns for any collector because of their importance & affordability. Some random must haves for me are Moon Knight 55 (because Platt was God for a few years of my childhood), X-O Manowar 0, Ninjak 1 & Bloodshot 0 (because chromium covers were the best & Quesada KILLED it on all 3), X-Force 1 (Because X-Force was DOOOOPE).
I have or have had almost every book you presented. I’m a lot older than you, so my litmus test would be that you have to have a complete run of silver age Atom,Hawkman,Spectre , and Metamorpho( which I do, including the try out issues). They are what I was reading as a child in the 60s. Obviously I’m not that serious about holding any one else to those standards, but I get what you’re saying . Rock on Regie , we need you youngsters to keep this hobby going. ✨👍✨

Ok I got Spawn all the DC and Marvel except ASM 110. I think you a truly a collector if you got the grails of the DC Trinity , the big Marvel keys. If you a die hard of one character etc etc if you collect you a collector...lol
All but 3...all 3 are on my want list though. 😁 I do have some triple bonus points though. 😜 Also if you get bonus points for have multiple of Sp 1 and Xm 1 I'm a bit ahead! 🤓

Okay Regie, I have all of the books you mention except, wait for it, Darkhawk #1. I have a few of his later issues due to a crossover with a favorite character but Darkhawk was just too much 90's, if that is possible, for me. But since you mentioned it, (Swagglehaus is another streamer with a fixation on this issue), I will give in and get a copy. 😂 This episode was informative and entertaining. All of your picks were excellent. I loved that you put in Gold Key. Maybe one honorable mention would be something from Harvey comics like Richie Rich and Casper the Friendly Ghost which dominated in the 1960's, 1970's. And who can forget Archie Comics with the world's oldest teenager still being published to this day?

"True Collector" lol I took notes, lol... I probably have 5 or 6 of these. I'm sure I have some Mickey Mouse, but the more memorable for me are the old Woody Woodpecker comics, I have a few of those. Lots of classic Superman covers, I prefer those over newer covers. Turok, I know I have... but Ninjak and Magnus Robot Fighter should qualify as well. Spidey & Spawn #1's are must haves, as well as ASM 298-300 (I still need a 300). X-Men #1 I have all versions. Batman Death in the family is what I first thought of when you brought up Hush. ASM #110 I don't have, but I do have some earlier classic issues. Lastly, for me... The Watchmen needs to be on this list. Fun video... Thanks ;)

I guess the title should be “Must have comics for Kids that Grew up in the 90s”. I can only relate because I came back to collecting in 91 after taking a decade off to go to college, get married, etc. But my alternative recommendations to yours would of course have a 70s flavor to it which is when I was growing up.

I think I have at least half a short box of that Turok #1 lol. Spiderman #1's are probably the other half of that short box. I know I have Spawn 1 but might be hard to find amongst the many boxes of Image comics I rarely touch. X-Men #1 I just got the "Collectors" edition graded 9..8 and yes I got the custom X-Men label for it. Death in the family... yea got that series maybe even 2 of them. Venom Lethal Protector is a must have for this list.

I have most of these. And, I know the video is a joke, but Spawn 1 & X-Men 1 are legit must owns for any collector because of their importance & affordability. Some random must haves for me are Moon Knight 55 (because Platt was God for a few years of my childhood), X-O Manowar 0, Ninjak 1 & Bloodshot 0 (because chromium covers were the best & Quesada KILLED it on all 3), X-Force 1 (Because X-Force was DOOOOPE).

I have or have had almost every book you presented. I’m a lot older than you, so my litmus test would be that you have to have a complete run of silver age Atom,Hawkman,Spectre , and Metamorpho( which I do, including the try out issues). They are what I was reading as a child in the 60s. Obviously I’m not that serious about holding any one else to those standards, but I get what you’re saying . Rock on Regie , we need you youngsters to keep this hobby going. ✨👍✨

i don’t have a single one 😭 but i agree with the list for most part. these are mostly affordable so makes sense why everyone should have it. another one i would say is batman vengeance of bane 1 that’s just iconic for me. also maybe lethal protector 1 and wolverine 1 monthly

I don't know about this ASM 300 as a core book. I prefer ASM 299 as a real core book since it's the first REAL appearance of Venom. ;)

Ok I got Spawn all the DC and Marvel except ASM 110. I think you a truly a collector if you got the grails of the DC Trinity , the big Marvel keys. If you a die hard of one character etc etc if you collect you a collector...lol
