Pawn Stars

Episode 4
Chum's Risky Business
"Pawn Stars" follows three generations of the Harrison family as they assess the value of items coming in and out of their Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, from the commonplace to the truly historic.

That women's brother took all of the good ones.
bet they went through each and every one and kept the valueable stuff
Very possible
Got u 1k👊
He knew that she would've sold them
Most likely yes.
Her father's gotta be real proud looking down on her selling his lifelong passion and collection for 500 bucks
Foni yeah he is peering through the heavens concerned with his material possessions! If you aren’t the NIT-WIT of this decade! They should remove your brain and implant a chickens gizzard where it use to be! I’m certain you would be light years ahead of where you currently are CHAMP!!
It was her uncle
Foni it's his uncles hobby not hers...everyone has to move on at some point...that's called LIFE
Have yall ever heard of sentimental value smh yall are dumb
Cali God edgy
Her brother 100% looked through the collection first, took all the good comics and then said, “Here’s your half sis.”
One can only hope that he did for his sake and the sake of their uncle who no doubt rolled over in his grave
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good thing he did
She had Avengers king sized number 10- which could easily go for a few hundred.
Which is a good thing if he didn't sell them.
It's funny to watch these guys argue over $500 when they are each making like 25k an episode
its just fir the drama
@@MrDrainBramaged and drama sells
No, its called good business sense. Apple can throw away $500 and it won't affect their company, but should they do it?
@@abdullah82m well let’s be realistic here, nobody sells comic books for a nickel

0:43 That "Avengers Annual" #10 (1981) is selling for between $35 and $70 (again, condition)
0:53 That is Issue #1 of Doctor Strange (1974) and it's worth anything from $70 to $250 depending on condition.

500 is not even a shred of risk for these guys. Chum actually knew what he was looking at too.
But it's a business
@@Alex-pj8nz Business or not, it’s still a gold mine Chum landed, but the expert is full of sh*t thinking comics are sold for 5 cents considering my local comic store sells for 30-75 cents on the common standard comic books.
Unless there were a few "Action Comics" with the first appearance of Superman or some issues with good autographs Chum did not land a goldmine. Not to mention the guy explained how a lot of those comics were common and not high grade which would mean that some of those comics would have ended up in a $1 bin.
Chum is the worst!
Rule number 1: never hired chum when it comes to comic books
Not sure I've ever seen a comic book being sold for 5 cents. Let alone 2,000 of them. This show needs more reality.

@Vincent Mileto I agree with you, but I'll still love and buy any bronze age Batman or Daredevil - i grew up in that era and regret sellling my boxes to this day
@Vincent Mileto Heavily disagreed.
Man, those comics are worth more than $500 bucks!!!
Imagine 7 boxes of GOOD collection????
Mcky Tiempo I’m sure they only looked through 1-2 boxes of them!

When the pawn star scammers scam the pawn stars
Mcky Tiempo are you that stupid? Have you ever met or interact with a comic dealer or collector before? Just because all of those boxes have old comic book it doesn’t not mean they are all valuable. What happen if you spend more than $500 on all underrated comic books that’s worth nothing? The only time comics are actually worth something if it is very popular character first edition copy in good condition
@@coffeelink943 They could easily flip this haul to a dealer for twice the price - and probably did. A dealer will mark most at a dollar and find plenty of $5-$20 dollar books within those boxes with a few maybe worth getting graded and perhaps even paying for the entire haul.
"I want 2000"
"best i can do is nothing, in fact you'll have to pay me 50 bucks per box to take it off you, im taking a risk here"
Lmao nice
Okay I laughed
5 cents a book, people will pay a dollar for any book. Spit in that "experts" face.
They are a pawn shop, nobody will buy a $1 comic there, so they need to sell it to a comic store with a wholesale price (5cents or something like that) so the store gets profits by selling that
@@ywchyzkxqlxp I'm sure people would buy comics from anywhere for a dollar. People buy comics anywhere from a dollar to 5 dollars at flee markets.

Yeah, even if they are only technically worth 5 cents each, people would still pay more for them. People would easily pay $1 each for them, that comes out to $2,000 when he only paid $500. Calm the F down Rick, Chum did good here.

William Redding woah why are you triggered
If I inherited that from my uncle, I wouldn’t even sell it, unless during finacial crisis. Let alone selling it dirt cheap, $500 ? WTF to that.
hahahaahah, "unless during a financial crisis" LOL. That's not a pile of collectible comics, it's a stack of worthless unsellable paper. Nobody's looking to buy 2100 worthless comic books, ESPECIALLY during a financial crisis. Even if you sold one a day (which aint gonna fucking happen) it'd take you 6 years to sell it. Jesus fucking christ "unless during financial crisis" hahah, it's like you think those are highly collectible or something.
Why would anyone want to store 7 fucking boxes full of comics.
Why would you keep 7 long boxes as a family heirloom lol?
DrCreepPasta if he had the courtesy to put you on the will for that, you should have the courtesy to keep it
that's around 2,100 comics lol
I don't have time to go through them, says the woman who wrote to Pawn Stars, waited for a response, had a meeting with production, set a date for filming, took time off work, loaded 7 boxes in her car and drove to Vegas to have them appraised.
not to mention her kids
😂
That security acting like he is an expert at security lol
A nickle each? That's nonsense. Every one would bring at least a dollar.
MrRuger1977 at the very least 50 cents each.
They're not going to sell the comics individually. Yes, if you sell the comics individually then you could get $1 each. But it doesn't make sense for a pawn shop to sell 2100 comics individually. They're going to sell them as a lot, and $0.05 each is a reasonable guess for what they'd get per comic when sold as a lot.
Nah like 5 or 3 bucks at comic shops they rip you off big time
theyre a pawn store not a comic book store
and even then it's the rarer ones that go for that much
they got 25 cent bins at comic con, most 5 cent comics would be resold at that price point
even then, u have to include tabling fees, travel costs, rentals etc.
theyre not getting more than 800-1000 in total
@@hhscadets0925 it'd be easy to sell them individually. put 20 or however many of them on a book rack for a dollar each and just refill it back up as they're sold. comics would fly, especially if you put them at a low level where a kid would see them
LOL 5 CENTS A BOOK WHAT? You could get $3 each and a lot of them probably for more.
They are selling them 'autographed by Chum' on their website at $20 for 14 comics
No you wont.
A lot of comics aren't worth much, I can remember many years ago when a dollar store near me sold them 4 for a dollar
@Vincent Mileto stop with '' copy- paste'' comments...
@Vincent Mileto I have no experience with selling or buying comic books but do you agree that these comics are priceless? I mean her uncle collected these in his lifetime. All his effort in his life would be wasted away just for $500? I would not even sell them for $1000. I would rather pass them down to my kids. :(

I think what drives collectors' passion is the connection they can make with a piece especially if it comes to them from another family member. What makes these sort of finds valuable is the history that often comes with them. Keeping the comic books would have been great a way to grow a deeper appreciation of not only vintage comics but for their family as well. Antiquing is more then collecting,..its about keeping history alive.

The majority of comics from the 70's, 80's, and 90's aren't worth anything even in good condition because there are just a lot of them leftover due to how so many people held on to them. The comics that can potentially be worth a lot in good condition are those from the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's. One of the primary reasons Golden Age and Silver Age comics are so valuable is because no one knew they would be worth something, and so kids would end up rolling them up, writing on them, ripping out pages, etc, and they would end up being thrown in the trash.
I sell Bronze age comics from 10 to 100$ almost every day, even in Fine condition...
