    Great video thank you! I had some of the same tracking issues in the beginning and I found adjusting the settings in the gr55 helped with the tracking on the midi pickup for most of the patches except for one's like the piano, for example, where I experience ghost notes. I read about a chip that can be installed to remedy that but haven't gone there just yet. I did, however, experience the dead piezo issue recently and didn't know there was a battery in it until today! I changed the battery and now it is working again. It is the most complicated guitar setup I've ever owned but I love the way it plays and how it sounds. Tuning can be an issue alright but I think that's down to it's age, 3 years old now, so it probably needs some lubrication and resetting.

    I owned the LGXT synth acess (luxury model) for a few years and never had any problems with. They are insanely awesome if you now how to use them, a bit of a learning curve. Acoustic - electric- synth all in one package. Monster of a beast and INSANE versatility. Tremolo not for dive bombing.

      thanks for watching and commenting. I didn't find the learning curve that tough; more like the technical issues / flaws were tough. But it's an awesome guitar, gets tons of use in our program here

      @@imaginableAudio I personally haven't tried. I have used it for vibrato (surf style) and things like the solo in Over the Mountain (Rhoads / Ozzy) but not full fledged Van Halen or Brad Gillis craziness

    Owned one for about 15 years. Had to have new, wider custom neck built for it ($700), because the bridge (impossible to move) was installed off the centerline, so the high E string was almost on the edge of the fretboard. Lately the D-string piezo saddle died, so no synth/acoustic tracking. Will get a chance to fix the dead saddle next spring when I get back to the US (residing temp. in rural Poland).

      What I like about it: mine plays nice, sounds great, and now that the piezo system is fixed, is a genius way to combine piezo, electric and synth tones. What I haven't liked: it's temperamental with regard to tuning. With an arsenal of 30 guitars to maintain, I don't like having to baby one of them to get the right reliabilty. And of course, getting piezo system to its current functional state was unnecessarily difficult, witness this video.

    I’m glad I found this video. I’m having similar problems on my 2005 Godin LGXT. The E & B RMC piezo’s stopped working along with the top neck pickup. The G was also very hot when using the 13 pin with a Boss GP-10. It is currently in the shop and they are replacing the RMC’s with LR Baggs. Hopefully this will fix all the issues. I’ve been trying to find out why these pickups died and was wondering if you found any answers when fixing your Godin. Thanks

      as I've mentioned in the comments on some of my Godin reviews, I love Godin guitars but have had some strange issues with the electronics. The first A12 I got drained the battery even when not plugged in. The 2nd one was OK for a couple years but recently the preamp/board got fried mysteriously and I had to order a new one from Godin. Their explanation or guess as to why that happened didn't make any sense to me. The xtSA was the biggest problem. The first guy I had fixing it just confused me about what the issue was, because I think he was confused. I sent it to Godin, and they fixed one problem but then when I got it back it had different problems. The second local luthier here is the guy that solved everything at once (Ross Guitars in Sammamish, WA) but by that time I was so confused, as a non-luthier, that I'm not sure I have the clearest picture of what went wrong and how it eventually got resolved. I'm just glad Darren Ross understood it, LOL

    I own and use 2 Godin LGXTsa guitars out live. I like them, except the weight. I also would prefer a skinnier neck. But overall the pros outweigh the cons, for me. I don't do hardly any synth ...both I use the acoustic and the electric heavily. I don't know if Godin will continue these guitars...the maker of the electronics (RMC) doesn't seem to have anymore parts in stock on their site. whatever that means. Personally I think a redisign would allow some serious improvements (weight reduction,thinner neck, better pegs, H S S not HB HB). But certainly good guitars already.

      thanks for watching and commenting on this video. I hadn't noticed a weight issue with the xtSA I have; I have so many different guitars I think I've transcended the differing weights issues. I dont often play the same guitar for long LOL.

    Anytime a guitar tech returns a guitar that isn't working it most definitely is that techs fault as they should have tested it making sure everything worked. I'd find another tech or learn to do stuff myself.

    • @kaleidoscopeschool
      @kaleidoscopeschool  Рік тому

      Of the two local techs (here in the Seattle area) the first guy is the one I take all my electronics to (PA systems, pedals, etc) so I only brought my guitar along on that trip because I was going anyway. But I'm real impressed that Ross Guitars in Sammamish (the second local tech) got it 100% right after both the first guy and Godin (!) both didn't nail the ultimate fix.

      I had a lot of issues with the xtSA (it's good now) and I had an A12 that shipped with a battery issue (which Musiciansfriend.com replaced). But those problems are far outweighed by the excellence of the 9 Godins I owe, especially at the price point.

    Im using a Variax with the GR 55 with the add on controller. Its B or G string goes out occasionally and I was looking for a good tracking guitar to upgrade to. Looks like Godin out of the box is a risk. Bad news for me

    • @kaleidoscopeschool
      @kaleidoscopeschool  Рік тому

      sorry to perhaps be the bearer of bad news. it's working great now. I own 9 Godin's and I've only had any kind of issue with 2 of them. (the other was a bad battery setup in the A12, which was fixed by returning the guitar to the retailer and getting another). But this one has been a journey to get it to this point

    Just beginning my journey. Need to know if anyone is having issues with hum. About to check grounding. Found cavities bare. No shielding. Anyone else.

    • @kaleidoscopeschool
      @kaleidoscopeschool  9 місяців тому

      I haven't noticed any out of the ordinary issues with hum with my xtSA. As you'd know from my various videos about my xtSA, I've certainly had some issues with it, but hum isn't one of them. Now that the piezo and synth capabilities have been repaired, the guitar works great and blows people's minds regularly. I would say that wailing on the whammy bar on my / this xtSA isn't advisable. For whatever reason the 3rd string in particular goes out of tune easily if you do that. I would actually consider blocking the tremolo on this guitar if a) it is possible like with Floyds and b) it was my main instrument. But so far I haven't. And if I am careful with string change protocol, it's reliable enough to create performances like this improv with no problem: ua-cam.com/video/UJBHmOwjpEs/v-deo.html

    You'll get better results from any Roland or boss system apart from the GR55. I got rid of mine as it had terrible tracking issues. I have a GP10 and GR20, both of which work great with the guitar.

    • @kaleidoscopeschool
      @kaleidoscopeschool  Рік тому +2

      The tracking issues with the GR55 I had were solved by the modifications to the guitar. I did check my initial tracking issues with a different synth unit owned by the first repair guy I mentioned in this video and they were the same...so in this case it was the guitar. I think the GR55 works great for me now. But thanks for commenting, because you never know, someone else watching this might be thinking their guitar was the issue and it might really be their GR55. When I make vids like this, I'm trying to help other people save time by benefitting from the things I've already tried.

    I think I'll avoid Godin products. Can't believe they've not offered you some type of compensation for your troubles with their poor quality and their failure to fix it ..... having you ship it at your cost also blows my mind.

    • @kaleidoscopeschool
      @kaleidoscopeschool  Рік тому +1

      I have mixed feelings. Up until the xtSA debacle, I was 100% Godin. I am still going to recommend their products, in part because they are amazing guitars for the price tag, and the bottom line for me is using what sounds and plays great. For just one of many examples, I prefer the plugged-in sound of my Godin Ultra A6 to my Taylor, even though the Taylor was 2x the price. There's no comparison... plus the A6 is easier to play and hold. But the way they handled the xtSA's issues was definitely less than ideal. Thanks for watching the video and commenting.
