get the om-28jm.....
The OM-21 and OM-28 have the same construction. The 28 has more decorative inlay and herringbone binding. Any variation in sound is by individual guitar, set up, and strings. Not design or construction specs. The amber tone is just the amber stain. It doesn't affect sound. I love it, especially with the 21's darker tortoise shell style bindings. I would have chosen the amber front for my om-21 if it had been in stock. That's a keeper.
Pretty good review here. I have a Custom Shop 000 w/Mahogany and Adirondack its pretty similar except it has a baked/roasted or "Torrefied" top to bring out tone, and also Addy spruce is louder and bassier, but I do prefer the mid-range of Mahogany. Martins are pretty great, Ive had other high-end American made all solid wood guitars before and the Custom shop Martin is the best yet. Would be interested to see u play more.
Got an 2006 OM-21. I’m very very tempted to swap out the closed back tuners for the open back Grovers. Might even make the headstock lighter. Great John Mayer tones in there. Magic in the Martin mids. Did you mess with trying different bridge pins?

On my OM-21, it says use medium strings. On the one that you demo, the amber tone, did it has medium strings on it? Coz it sounds so brilliant.
Yup medium Elixir strings. Very balanced and bright tone
Put newtone masterclass double wound 11s or 12s on. You won't regret it.
I have extra light strings on my OM 21, it doesn’t sound bright.
Clapton plays a OOO body style. Similar to OM, but the scale length is shorter on the OOO. Clapton has his signature guitars by Martin. Clapton uses a vintage “V” neck on his models as well as his Fender Strat signature model. It’s a thicker neck profile. Easier for bending.
V necks are not easier for bending. V necks are easier for playing chords
@@tonymullen4779 I meant that the shorter scale length is easier for bending, not the v-neck.
Can i just say elixir strings aren't the best. I've used loads of strings over the years and for about 10 years now I only use Newtone masterclass double wound 11s. Hand made in England. There not cheap at around$18 but my last set lasted 18 months and still sounded great. The guitars I've used them on are lakewood, lowden, Martin 000ec Brazilian and now currently an eastman Ac 108 ce ltd. So a wide range of woods. You wouldn't put a crap pair of tyres on a porsch turbo so if your guitars worth $2000 put the newtones on and listen to your guitar sing.
