Ivar Simonsson Notice I said the Turbo S? Also, German manufacturers underrate their cars. The 918 does 0-60 in 2.2 meanwhile Porsche says something like 2.9.
+Hear That? Well no, the 918 does it in 2,5 according to Porsche themselves and I also meant the Turbo S , the standard turbo does 0-60 in 3,0 seconds.
Motor Trends ignition episode 67 clocked the GTR at 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds, quarter mile at 11.0. possible explanations for Evos results are: nanna was driving the GTR, they were 20,000 feet above sea level, they were in dubai, that particular GTR was dragged through the ringer and the rings and compression are shot to shit
When the narrator talked about the Launch Control for the GTR it shows the person putting the suspension in soft mode. The Three switches need to be in R mode for the Launch Control to work. Unless that was an error on their part.
they'd probably have to do away with the rear seats. To me that's a step backwards. The thing I loved about the gtr was price, and the ability to have it as a daily driver that can fit your kids in it. Also I hear it's going to be a hybrid, so along with awd, it will probably be at least the same weight if not heavier.
I'm confused...they said that the launch control didn't work and then the showed them setting up the launch control incorrectly by putting the suspension mode onto comfort instead of R mode. If you don't have all 3 switches in R mode you can't even use the launch control. On top of that if you listen to the video you can clearly hear that the GTR is not put into launch control mode - the launch control mode requires that you put all 3 R switches into R mode and then hold the brake down to the floor, then hold the gas pedal down to the floor, it revs to 4200rpm and holds, and then you release the brake and must hold the gas pedal down to the floor 100% or it exits the launch. If the GTR was at 4200rpm before they said "go" we would clearly have heard the motor/exhaust. You can say I'm a GTR fanboy or whatever, but i expected the $400k GT3RS to be faster anyway, but i expected it to be fair and done right. Oh and i own a GTR and have never experienced any problems with the launch control, not once. As other commentors mentioned, GTR fanboys will complain about the driver - but I'm not complaining about the drivers skills, rather his lack of knowledge of the technology.
lmao, oh it's delicious, SO delicious lookin at GTR fanbutthurt. (Not because of the vehicle, the GTR is cool, the FANS are the douches as proved by the internet everywhere.)
www.evo.co.uk/features/17830/porsche-911-gt3-rs-vs-nissan-gt-r-which-is-fastest "Both cars were running competition OEM tyres, for the Nissan this meant Dunlop Sport Maxx and for the Porsche, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. " Nope, you're not onto anything. ;-)
GT-R has good transmission, engine revs to 4,000rpm, clutch drops and reduce just 500 rpm off the line. Very smooth engagement. It's the track purposed AWD that failed GT-R on straight line. It sends 98% of 542 hp to the rear axle, the GT-R will definitely slip more than the GT3 RS with RR layout combined with its thicker and stickier Michelin Cup 2. Once the GT-R spins, the traction control will kick in and either brake and reduce power. If you know something about Nissan, you'll know that Nissan is trying to save the transmission gears by not letting the rear spins. That is why GT-R can't go quick on slippery surface. After the launch, the Porsche actually has greater power to weight ratio and closer gear ratios to keep it ahead. Simple as that. By the way, Nismo GT-R v GT3RS can be interesting.
Mike Russo You should learn more about JDM's culture vs German's. GT-R is for kicking your ass on tracks. Just watch some old GT-R vs Porsche videos, there's a very famous battle between an R34 nismo R-tune GT-R with 280 hp restriction vs 996 Turbo 420 hp. The Porsche is much faster on straight ways where GT-R pulls gap at corners. Get it? What I'm trying to say is the GT-R isn't built to kick your ass on straight line. I mean it has a quick traction control and close gear ratios but it doesn't have the torque to compete on straight line since straight line isn't Nissan's first priority.
Did they weight the GT-R driver? I'm sure he probably weighed over 500 kilos that's why it didn't win :( Also I think they took out parts of the Nissan's engine eg. Turbos, ECU, this is rigged. I win with my GT-R on Forza
yes, i'm sure the driver weighed over 500kg and they took out parts of the engine and thats why it didnt win, totally not because the 991 GT3 RS is just a better car. Also what would you be winning against in forza? theres no 991 GT3 RS, the only GT3 RS I can think of in forza is the 997 and thats a manual which is slower than the 991. I'm also surprised that you think there was something wrong with the GT-R and driver yet your profile picture is a picture of a 991 GT3 from the looks of it?
Dont forget that Porsche costs twice as much as the gtr and its much more radical, it has no rear seats and a lot of stuff is tooken out to save weight. Take the GTR Nismo which costs the same, then its a fair comparison..
I noticed in the video that the launch control sequence shown to be used on the GT-R was R-OFF-R instead of the requisite R-R-R for the DBA (R Mode Start, as the manual calls it). This is likely indicative of the wheelspin they experienced, since that's particularly uncharacteristic for a GT-R launch and cripples the advantage of the AWD. Maybe that's why EVO couldn't achieve the expected numbers? Sometimes, the simplest explanation is the correct one. There are many-many other independent tests out there and we all know what to typically expect from these two cars.
Porsche perfectly shows how a RWD car can beat almost any 4WD car thanks to extremely sophisticated engineering. It's also a big disappointment that basically every GT-R that has been tested on an ordinary, not prepped surface missed the promised 2,8 seconds by a long shot.
im a GT3rs fan but i think this test was a porsche commercial. first off why a half mile? did the nissan win at the 1/4 mile? and second, the 2009 grr which was the first year did 0-60 in the 3.4 second range. i find it hard to believe that this one did the same. it should've been much faster
watch the whole video and take in all the info. Dont just watch the dragrace and hoy your dummy out. the gtr needs a full refresh its old and only just relevant due to continual development. But i thought it would beat the porsche. I am surprised. But it only re-affirms just how heavy the car is when a naturally aspirated car with less power beasts it in a drag race, not only in the 1/4 but in the 1/2 too. With a quicker 0-60, despite the porsche only having 2 wheel drive. If they had used a new turbo for this test, things would only be worse for the GTR
so true the new turbo would probably 0-60 in 2.7/8 secs and then the turbo s would be 2.5/6 secs. The GTR is just a fat car its nearly the same weight as a 3.0 v6 luxury saloon i.e s class, a8, 7 series, XJ. It can't challenge the likes of a turbo or turbo s anymore they are lighter and have more torque, better gearbox.
.... I know. I'm saying that that's not representative of the car. Either the tires, road surface, car, weather, or something was extreme enough to create those results consistently.
It's almost a decade old and still the GT-R is the benchmark new cars have to prove themselves against. I think that says more about the GT-R's performance than anything else.
2 things 1. the new 2017 model was announced with more power and a better 0-60 time 2. if you notice in the video at about a 1:27 they place the suspension into comfort mode instead of R mode meaning that it's launch mode was not active. that explains why they were not achieving the claimed times.
plus on top of that I believe that there are only to Porsche that can beat the GT-R 's 0-60 time right out of the factory and that is the 918 spider and turbo s
+Bryant Placencio if you watch the video the Porsche started pulling away after the two cars had gained more speed. this is quite logical hence the more power the Porsche has (it's lighter don't forget)
Come on, for a claimed 2.7 and a car that often does sub 3, it's pretty sketchy. I see more haters than fanboys btw, which does say something, because they're even more ridiculous.
The GT-R was a revelation when it came out, out running the 997 turbo. But when Porsche engineers get embarrassed, watch out. Would have loved to have seen the current 991.2 turbo S in the race as well.
Wot???? a GT-R that isn't fast? oh I get it. the GT-R driver was going easy on the Porsche driver, so his feelings wouldn't get hurt. -GT-R fanboys everywhere
Love the GT3RS so much, might be in my top 5 of all time while the GT-R just doesn't do it for me. But... what's with these times. Never seen a 2012+ GT-R go this slowly and be dogged on for 'not matching claimed times." Every GT-R test I've ever seen the car exceeded the claimed acceleration figures.
Again, you are taking a top of the range Porsche track edition against an outdated GTR. Why don't you get the current Nismo model, which is more equivalent to the RS branding on the Porsche. This was not a fair test in my opinion.
There is something wrong with that GTR or your tests. Motor Trend have tested the GTR and it readily does 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds, all day long.
for some reason the gtr will only do a 2.9 on the first launch after that its 3.0s+ the gearbox is never consistent and will over heat after 3 launches
+Malc180s they built the worst box ever i have owned my turbo 5yrs now never had a problem had a gtr for 1 yr and nothing but problems and the gearbox has cost me and other gtr owners £1000s in repairs so its not just mine its common issue.
IIRC motor trend use a fairly rubbered up stretch of tarmac for their acceleration tests, so they'll get faster bare numbers than you'll see on the road. This was done on a fairly boggo stretch of runway without any additional grip available.
1. They are comparing a used GT-R (2015) with a brand new (991.1 2016) GT3RS. Pretty sure they did'nt install new tires on the GT-R worth around 2000 GBP coz they would have gotten a newer car if budget was not a problem. 2. They suspension was not set to R mode. 3. Again like many others they did not launch the GT-R correctly making an early shift to 2nd gear. 4. This entire test is irrelevant, even if the GT-R won the drag race. The GT3RS should be compared with the NISMO GT-R which is its appropriate rival. Bad review in my opinion!
"Yes but GTR is a bargain" LOL do you Datsun fans know a little word called DEPRECIATION? Meanwhile Porsche GT3 RS is winning and also increasing its value every second. It doesn't get any more BUTTHURT than that. Go Porsche!
Marco de la Pena. First of all no car *increases* its value by the second. A year after you purchase it it's worth less. You know why? Because otherwise both car salesmen and car manufacturers would go out of business. Only rare classics end up increasing their value and I bet a million you can't mention five vintage cars worth a fortunate today. Second of all you're a fanboy yourself. It's clear to anybody with half a brain. The Porsche in your profile, your immature antics and your absurd notion it actually increases in value. I mean have you ever listened to yourself? You know what they call a fanboy who fights other fanboys? A fool. Same shit different name. Last of all. You won't ever afford a Porsche because to have one you have to be educated and ambitious and hard working. You're none of those things. So please shut the fuck up and do your homework or whatever actually matters in your vapid little existence. How old are you btw? 14? If so I'm willing to cut you some slack because you're not even old to vote yet or buy beer so what the hell makes you think your anti-fanboy fanboyism means shit?
good thing you have made the GTR slower! LOL.... well done EVO.. btw correct launch control of the GTR is all three controls up and red... what a fail!
And in the video, it clearly states that the best time they got was when it wasn't in that mode. Because they changed the configuration to suit the conditions to allow the car to get the best launch it could. Evo have tested more GTRs than you've had hot dinners, have run long term cars (standard and modified - the original 'Godzilla' was a long termer in Evos previous incarnation, Performance Car - and the same owner had an R35 in Evo as a long term test car, too), and they've had twenty page articles celebrating the GTR family. I'm pretty sure they know how to launch it optimally better than you.
Beany2007FTW Yeah the mode used for launch control is clearly wrong and the times set by other testers are clearly wrong.. right.. their times are nearly a second off other times.. yeah so everyone else is lying LOL.. fuck you're stupid
The times set by other testers - the sub-three second times quoted by all GTR fanboys - are set at drag strips, using rollout timing. So a rubbery surface, and 0.3 seconds removed to accommodate the time off the line when the light beam is broken - it's called 'roll out', look it up. Fact is, in the real world, no showroom spec GTR can get close to the claimed times from Nissan when tested on anything vaguely like a road (as opposed to a drag strip) never mind the figures from Motor Trend and the like. The GT3 RS, however, seems to be consistently quicker than the claimed 3.3secs to 60. This is why believing and using disparate 0-60 times to claim one car is faster than another is a bad idea. Put them side by side on the same day, on the same stretch of tarmac, and then repeatedly launch 'em. In this case, the GTR just can't keep up, no matter how it's configured.
Well, you can either provide counter-evidence, such as footage of a stock GTR getting close to the claimed times, or you can go back to sniffing your mothers underwear and getting sexually confused. I've provided my suggestions as to why it's likely the Evo times are actually more representative of real world performance. All you've provided is poorly formed verbal abuse. It's rather sad really.
This gtr is 90k pounds. Did u watch the video? The gt3rs is 130k. And people who can afford a 90k pound car can afford a 130k pound car, specially if the 130k car is much more enjoyable to drive than any gtr, and that's worth a lot.
It's all about that dig, 0-60, the GTR's have been doing it in about 3 sec the 911s are doing that in about 2.5 sec (Turbo S ect) the GTR reign with this gen is and has been over for a while now.
You're supposed to have all 3 toggles switches to "R" in the GTR, in order to properly use the launch control system. Something seems off about this test...
then theres all those GTR fanboys claiming that the car is way faster with upgrades, one a car is only as fast as the amount of money you put into it and two those upgrades alone will get you way over the price of a porsche so really they lose either way.
No, GT3 is the racing version of the 911 so if you want to make an acceptable comparison, test the NISMO GT-R against any Porsche. You’ll see the difference.
I'm not a rocket scientist, but I'm more than positive that you place the dampeners on Sport, not fucking Comfort, when launching. If this test isn't skewed in the 911's favor, then the world is indeed flat.
No way, no way! 991 GT3RS is more practicle, more reliable, more efficient, and now quicker and faster than a r35. Bravo Porsche, just an amazing achievement w this car! Why would anyone want a 911 R, when the Gt3rs is capable of such all-round capabilities
not a gtr fan, but 3.4 sec 0-60 is absolutely incorrect [which also leads to an inaccurate 1/4 mile]. I had tried the older version of this car stock 5 years ago and it was much quicker than that. In fact, we clocked sub 3 seconds. Something is definitely off in this video and I'm thinking traction due to testing ground surface.
This video is a bit weird. Not a GTR fan by any chance but it seems the GTR isnt boosting fully. Also they're not using the newest version of the GTR or even the Nismo and they're comparing it to a GT3RS. Hope to see maybe a Nismo GTR against the GT3RS on the track.
Love how many people are still foaming out of the mouth when they see a GT-R and getting even crazier when the cars wins a drag race agains their favorite car. Call down guy's it's just a car.
Once rolling the power to weight ratio is more important in standing starts than pure stats. Obviously good traction helps, so where engine is located, size and type of rear tyres, an efficient gearbox/ launch control etc. RS power to weight figures are superior to GTR. Porsche's GT division in Weissach are renowned for understating the power output of their cars. Boss Andreas Preuninger openly admits this!
Tell me they didn't launch the GTR with traction control on. Because that was a traction control light I saw on the dash when they showed the in-car view. Probably wouldn't have drastically affected the outcome, but it would certainly have helped. In any case, here is a clear illustration of the advantages of less weight.
I really didn't expect the gt3 to win : rwd, less power, no turbos.. the want is strong with this car!
300kgs less. Sticky tires. helps a lot.
Power-to-weight ratio my friend
More of the torque and horsepower is lost by having 4WD. 2WD loses less.
Don't forget the PDK transmission.
+WeRnotDone WithU Yes but 4wd has more traction but on the other end the Porsche has the engine in the same axis of the wheels that will put the power on the ground so that is a good thing.
wait... how can any car be faster than a GTR??!?
And why does it matter, only thing that matters is how it drives and in that respect the GTR can never win.
hey cupbanger
pdk. when a gearbox is developed to pretty much win le mans its gonna rip everything apart. nissan didnt do too well at le mans. also the weight balance on the porsche helps a lot with the traction at launch.
Troll mode on: It cant! Volkswagen paid for this video. Hahahaahha

@@alexl5682 it's also a car that you'll never be able to afford in your life.
What the fuck just happened?! I'm a Porsche fan (not a fanboy) but I accepted that the GTR would win. Talk about a good upset.
Lol same here. I totally expected the gtr to win and was even prepared to comment "why not use the turbo s" lol
+Supcharged
Lol, same. The turbo S would humiliate it if the RS beats it like that on a drag
You guys do realize the Porsche is $175k? lol
+John Husar yup, the RS is special and especially expensive lol
still wont depreciate, only appreciate
As a Porsche fan, I am pleasantly surprised - the GT3 RS is even better than I thought. Doesn't detract from how good the GTR remains though.
nah, the GTR is not a good car, just a numbers car that doesn't live up in the real world. Drive one and you'll see, it doesn't feel that fast stock. On the other hand, Modified GTRs tho...
If I were to go by the video, the GT-R wasn't placed in the launch control mode properly

The days of GT-R doing a sub 3 second 0-60 launch are long gone. It seems the increase in power has made it slower compared to the 2012 version lol.
GTR was never able to do sub 3 sec. only claimed it could. Unlike most manufacturers gtr overstated what it could do,
Thing is, all of them can do it, but I think slick tyres are required for that.
GT-R is still doing 0-60 at 3 seconds meanwhile the 911 Turbo S has been doing 2.5 seconds for years.
Of course the 911 Turbo S is better. And of course costs much more money!
+Alexandre Fernandes and is built way better.
I'm a huge fan of the 911 GT3 RS but according to Porsche themselves it will do it in 2,9 not 2,5
Ivar Simonsson Notice I said the Turbo S?
Unless that was an error on their part.
time for Nissan to make a smaller lightweight version of the GTR.
With the R35 chassis? Impossible. It's just too heavy to begin with. Even the Nismo versions are super heavy.
Armando Alves The next generation, The current GTR is too big. Potentially with a smaller and less weight car, it could solve its gearbox issues.
they'd probably have to do away with the rear seats. To me that's a step backwards. The thing I loved about the gtr was price, and the ability to have it as a daily driver that can fit your kids in it.
Also I hear it's going to be a hybrid, so along with awd, it will probably be at least the same weight if not heavier.
+SZ S why even have rear seats in a sports car like this?! That goes for Porsche too.
nissan actually took 300 pound out and it was slower
Looks at the dislikes.... 100 butthurt GTR fanboys
lmao, oh it's delicious, SO delicious lookin at GTR fanbutthurt.
(Not because of the vehicle, the GTR is cool, the FANS are the douches as proved by the internet everywhere.)
+cybertree have you noticed that evo magazine seems to be afraid to test these overated vw beetles against the gtr nismo?
Conrad Sealy I spotted one!
+Conrad Sealy well...the Turbo S defeat the GTR Nismo in the Motortrend drag vídeo
no gtr funboys ...only ugly vw bettle small shoping car -400kg are funboys ;) ...
Tyres on the GT-R didn't look as good as those on the Porsche, not pointing out anything, or am I?
you could be on to something
something that all comparative reviews fair to note... how hard is it to swap out tires so that they match?
The entire car doesn't look as good as the Porsche
Fail to note*
www.evo.co.uk/features/17830/porsche-911-gt3-rs-vs-nissan-gt-r-which-is-fastest
"Both cars were running competition OEM tyres, for the Nissan this meant Dunlop Sport Maxx and for the Porsche, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. "
Nope, you're not onto anything. ;-)
Did not expect that outcome. The RS even had it off the line. Very impressed.
Something that costs 150k - gtr vs 850k - porsche
I've driven both. Both cars are off the charts. Tough to beat the GT3 RS. However, Nissan Gtr is a lot more comfortable, and just as fun to drive.
the rs do corners
Finally somebody who appreciates the r35
Dear diary...
no one wants to read your dam diary
Ralf Kelendji Damn.. Why you put BMW on?? I love BMW.
If you bring a nismo, then Porsche has a turbo and turbo S. #nosubstitute
Butthurt GT-R fanboys incoming ;)
Comments like these are more annoying than GTR fanboys.
+David Vu i know right, the funny thing is they talk about fanboys while being fanboys themselves, logic has left this world.
+David Vu comments like these indirectly showing...you are a gtr fanboy.....
are even more
+Gurdit Singh Can't we just have an appreciation for all cars without getting called out with this bs!?
Gurdit Singh tbh I would rather have the superior GT3 than the R35 GTR. So no, not a GTR fanboy.
BEST BEST BEST ever coverage of a drag race. good views from both cars to properly gauge the gap.
The GT3 RS does an 11.1 Quarter, the GT-R the exact same. This is a HALF mile, so the RS obviously one. And around a track, it wouldn't even be funny.
not in this video, Porsche was agreed, and continued to stay ahead
"rs obviously one" smh
Did they weight the GT-R driver? I'm sure he probably weighed over 500 kilos that's why it didn't win :( Also I think they took out parts of the Nissan's engine eg. Turbos, ECU, this is rigged. I win with my GT-R on Forza
The butthurt is strong with this one.
XDDD
yes, i'm sure the driver weighed over 500kg and they took out parts of the engine and thats why it didnt win, totally not because the 991 GT3 RS is just a better car.
1778kg vs 1490kg with almost the same power output, hmmm I wonder which car is going to win...
Well the Porsche is RWD with more downforce and less torque
+Supcharged let's find out, shall we...
+Mister McGill honestly I expected the gtr to win despite knowing these facts lol
+Supcharged you blew it for future watchers, thanks.
+Mister McGill lol the rule to every UA-cam video is don't read the comments lol and pretty much everyone down below is arguing the same😂😂😂
Dont forget that Porsche costs twice as much as the gtr and its much more radical, it has no rear seats and a lot of stuff is tooken out to save weight. Take the GTR Nismo which costs the same, then its a fair comparison..
Did you really say rear seats??? I dont want rear seats in my sportscar
Motor Sportz agree ,gtr rear seat can fit two dwarfs not adult person
Awd GTR Vs Rwd gt3 ? Why Not the Turbo s
If a RWD 500hp Porsche beat an AWD 540hp GT-R imagine what a 991.2 AWD 580hp Turbo S would have done.
It would've ripped the GTR a second asshole
It would drive circles around the GT-R.
Would have destroyed it - and it could have kept doing it all day long.
if they want to compare GT3 cars then it should be
Nismo GT3 vs Porsche GT3RS
NISSAN WOULD SMASH IT!
im a GT3rs fan but i think this test was a porsche commercial. first off why a half mile? did the nissan win at the 1/4 mile? and second, the 2009 grr which was the first year did 0-60 in the 3.4 second range. i find it hard to believe that this one did the same. it should've been much faster
watch the whole video and take in all the info.
The GT-R really should have been faster than that. Other magazines always always always get faster times than that.
+Willy Lamb well, if you watch the video they never managed better than 3.4 to 60 all day. no matter what they did.
.... I know. I'm saying that that's not representative of the car. Either the tires, road surface, car, weather, or something was extreme enough to create those results consistently.
Power is meaningless...
Lightness is king...
So peel p50 4 hp light car top speed(not even 100) vs gtr 545 hp heavy car(300+),who would win,so shut the fuck up
It's almost a decade old and still the GT-R is the benchmark new cars have to prove themselves against. I think that says more about the GT-R's performance than anything else.
$101,000 vs $175,000....GT3 RS is a monster no doubt. GTR (for the money) can still compete with the best. Good vid.
If you're lucky enough to buy the GT3 RS at sticker price, otherwise good luck finding one for $175,000 LOL.
+botchok5 very true my friend.
+botchok5 Who are you talking too??? Me???
Datsun vs Volkswagen Beetle!
But a fast Beetle. ;-)
@@famaccount479 And a fast Datsun :D
GT3 RS is insane! only 339 lb ft of torque!
Prepare yourselves for GTR nerds thinking of excuses for it not winning
One of the life Greatest Experiences is to watch EVO DRAG BATTLE.
the rapid fire PDK got a headshot over AWD GR6..... that GT3 RS are amazing indeed, sounds glorious too
Just an observation... Why the hell was the traction control on on the GT-R? That's why the car bogged... Propaganda
He said that was his fastest time. He more than likely tried all of the settings and could make it hook up best with some TC aid..
I'm a Porsche fan, but that's suspicious for sure.
+Forrest Slater I'm a Porsche fan too bro, but I believe in a fair race.
wow thats the kind of video i like
ohh i forgot FIRST
I believe software is a big part of a successful launch in these cars. The geeks at Porsche just schooled the geeks at Nissan.
2 things
1. the new 2017 model was announced with more power and a better 0-60 time
2. if you notice in the video at about a 1:27 they place the suspension into comfort mode instead of R mode meaning that it's launch mode was not active. that explains why they were not achieving the claimed times.
plus on top of that I believe that there are only to Porsche that can beat the GT-R 's 0-60 time right out of the factory and that is the 918 spider and turbo s
+Bryant Placencio if you watch the video the Porsche started pulling away after the two cars had gained more speed. this is quite logical hence the more power the Porsche has (it's lighter don't forget)
lap time is more relevant, after all, gt3 RS is built for the track not drag racing.
The GTR should have probably made it to 60 in like 3 seconds. Still funny how the Porsche TRACK car killed it. Porsche build a Dragster too (Turbo S).
3.4 seconds in a GTR haha. Easily a fail driver. Porsche fanboys must really be eating this up.
WOOO FOUND A LIVE ONE GUYS, GTR FANBOYS ARE STILL ALIVE AND KICKIN'. Eyes rolling so far back I can see behind me.
you can´t make an error. mash both pedals then release the left one, done.
Come on, for a claimed 2.7 and a car that often does sub 3, it's pretty sketchy. I see more haters than fanboys btw, which does say something, because they're even more ridiculous.
Get the nismo to make it fair?
Ok and the turbo s aswell
How about GT3RS and Nismo time attack on a race circuit?
+dominic graber actually it would be more fair to have the hardcore track GTR against the hardcore track 911.
Yep, turbo S aswell+ try to use launch controll 50 times in a row without cooling. Porsche can handle that, what about datsun? I doubt that.
Turbo S will monster the Nismo.. It has been proved before..
0:32
That 6th stat, thats the key right there
To every race, between any car
The GT-R was a revelation when it came out, out running the 997 turbo. But when Porsche engineers get embarrassed, watch out. Would have loved to have seen the current 991.2 turbo S in the race as well.
i don't care which one's faster. i would take the car that arouses me every time i see it and that's not the nissan.
*AMAZING VIDEO*
-amazing accurate, clean cut data
-amazing slow mo shots of the launches (and tires)
-amazing OCD porn.
GT-R is overrated by the media and teenagers
Wow. Surprising. I'd expect the GT3 to be relatively handy around a tight track, but would have thought it would be cannon fodder in a straight line.
Wot???? a GT-R that isn't fast? oh I get it. the GT-R driver was going easy on the Porsche driver, so his feelings wouldn't get hurt.
-GT-R fanboys everywhere
Truth hurt... I know.
Adam Wilson yeah me neither
GTR is a great car , the only problem is the over weight !!!!
That's what i'm thinking ............
Ss Q yeah for a 98/2 setup might aswell put the 2 with the 98 and make rwd
GTR SPEC V : D U D
Both are my favariote but I choose the Gt3 ;-)
Wild that a RWD N/A car with less power beat the AWD twin turbo car to 60 and onward. Gotta love what Porsches are capable of.
That GT3 RS sounds bloody savage on launch control...
Well Nissan built the thing so...
+Malc180s they built the worst box ever i have owned my turbo 5yrs now never had a problem had a gtr for 1 yr and nothing but problems and the gearbox has cost me and other gtr owners £1000s in repairs so its not just mine its common issue.
DryUrEyesMate You've never even owned a bicycle.
IIRC motor trend use a fairly rubbered up stretch of tarmac for their acceleration tests, so they'll get faster bare numbers than you'll see on the road. This was done on a fairly boggo stretch of runway without any additional grip available.
gtr fanboys are hurting
911 fanboys are hurting us too
Best drag race I have seen in a while. Two great cars. Great race.
Now if the GTR was blue and the GT3 was black it'll be an epic remake of Wangan Midnight.
Bad review in my opinion!
yes, I realy agree with you i also saw it
real crap review
"Yes but GTR is a bargain" LOL do you Datsun fans know a little word called DEPRECIATION? Meanwhile Porsche GT3 RS is winning and also increasing its value every second. It doesn't get any more BUTTHURT than that. Go Porsche!
To be fair, you'd have to wait an eternity for the much appreciating Porsche if you ordered one today.
+SAFFY7411 no you dont...look at what used 991 gt3rs's are going for. or a 911R
Dalton Villnave From new I'm taking about. You'd be pretty desperate if you're going to spend well over £100,000 above the list price.
+SAFFY7411 that's called appreciation, demand is greater than supply and the price shows that
"Nooooooooo.... Mónicaaaa"
That Porsche seriously has a blazingly fast gearshift!
GT3 RS destroyed the Huracan as well. That 4.0 flat six is just incredible.
good thing you have made the GTR slower! LOL.... well done EVO.. btw correct launch control of the GTR is all three controls up and red... what a fail!
Beany2007FTW stop lying.. your grandma can make a 3 second 0-100 km/h... seriously!
Gtr=70k 911=250k. Diffrence: 0.5 Seconds
.5 seconds matters on the track and drag strips, and also the GTR is around 110k retail for 2017
This gtr is 90k pounds. Did u watch the video? The gt3rs is 130k. And people who can afford a 90k pound car can afford a 130k pound car, specially if the 130k car is much more enjoyable to drive than any gtr, and that's worth a lot.
Porsche's PDK system is second to none. You can launch this thing 50 times back to back without a hiccup and it launches so effectively every time.
911 GT3 RS : 1430kg
GTR NISMO : 1736 kg
*spits water on the ground*
It's all about that dig, 0-60, the GTR's have been doing it in about 3 sec the 911s are doing that in about 2.5 sec (Turbo S ect) the GTR reign with this gen is and has been over for a while now.
You're supposed to have all 3 toggles switches to "R" in the GTR, in order to properly use the launch control system. Something seems off about this test...
Gt3 rs $175,900, nissan GTR $109,990. That Porsche better win for that price.
then theres all those GTR fanboys claiming that the car is way faster with upgrades, one a car is only as fast as the amount of money you put into it and two those upgrades alone will get you way over the price of a porsche so really they lose either way.
Forget the race, i am impressed that you got a couple of launches out of the GT-R before it going into limp mode....or worse
Wow, actually a good drag race. Proper lineup, relevant commentary; Top Gear, take note
Isn't that GT-R the older model? But the GT3-RS is newer right?
No, GT3 is the racing version of the 911 so if you want to make an acceptable comparison, test the NISMO GT-R against any Porsche. You’ll see the difference.
You'll see the GTR Nismo loses to the 911 Turbo S, 911 GT2 RS, and 918 Spyder
I'm not a rocket scientist, but I'm more than positive that you place the dampeners on Sport, not fucking Comfort, when launching. If this test isn't skewed in the 911's favor, then the world is indeed flat.
Hardly a surprise... GTR may be quite a capable toy, but Porsche has always played in another league. Engineering vs. car assembly.
"the awd should have an advantage off the line against the 2wd"... are we all forgetting why manufacturers opt for mid engine?
This video is a bit weird. Not a GTR fan by any chance but it seems the GTR isnt boosting fully. Also they're not using the newest version of the GTR or even the Nismo and they're comparing it to a GT3RS.
Hope to see maybe a Nismo GTR against the GT3RS on the track.
yes because you need 600hp to beat a naturally aspirated car with 500hp
wait....why is the GTR's traction control on "Comf" @ 1:29?
Lightweight and intelligent engineering, especially the PDK gearbox, helped the cute and agile Porsche to win.
Love how many people are still foaming out of the mouth when they see a GT-R and getting even crazier when the cars wins a drag race agains their favorite car.
Call down guy's it's just a car.
1:48 what is that coming lose from under the wheel arch? Is the car's aero stuff shredding it to pieces?
Very well done video man! Subscribed 😎
The R32 was built by studying the Porsche 959. But this the evolved version of that car still can't beat the original beast 😅
