    This is so beautifully made, very moving and poignant.. I will never understand the cruelty of humankind. How you can get so greedy and empty of compassion as to kill others. Thank you for this excellent video.

    The comments here are so ignored. The genocide resulted out of a long period of colonization in which the way the Rwandan people had to identify themselves changed in order for the Europeans to be able to divide and rule the country. Currently the Banyarwanda are living an amazing peaceful life and it's such a safe, clean and beautiful country. It is saver than European countries that I have been in and I hope the Belgium-Rwandan lady from this video keeps seeing the same beauty that is Rwanda now.

      Tutsi were theyre favorite to kill. They used play games with them till they die. Such as chopping theyre heads off and signing their faces with the killers' names. They did this because they were the next generation tutsi and their main goal was to wipe the completely out of existence.

    SO i was highly interested in this part of history since they didn't taught me anything of this in school, so I read the whole genocide story and I gotta say that is really messed up in many ways BUT what bothers me the most is the actions that countries in Europe or USA could have made to help them but they refused... and when you look closely you realise that this was motivated by the gold mines that Rwanda has, they prefered the destabilization of the whole rwandan territory so after they could have higher influence than helping the Rwandan people. Also, as you propably guess, USA and Great Britain did send them weapons the prior years in hopes that one faction could
    destabilize the other. Why every time I look at some conflicts the name USA always appears? And why they never appear actively but just as some shadow generating conflicts, training troops (which also happened here, yeah... they trained a group in Rwanda exacty like they did with Al-qaeda) and selling weapons? Could USA stop selling weapons for just making a quick buck? Could USA stop training troops in the hopes to gain political advantatge so they can regain more political power? Because every time they do so a war starts. I realise that i focused to much on USA on this topic but France and Belgium also did a pretty good job.... at ignoring the conflict, deploying a low number of soldiers and overall pretending the conflict didn't exist until the genocide killed 75% of tutsis, THEN they came out and did the tribunal in the hopes that everyone looked at them and congratulate them for their efforts at solving the conflict, It just seems that everything is a play in a theatre... I guess thats politics.

    • @geraldsoria1764
      @geraldsoria1764 7 років тому +22

      If anyones gonna have to clear this up; Yes its european influence, the europeans preferred the hutu because of they look more "european" over the years the hutu felt more superior to the tutsi due to the long discrimination by both the europeans and hutu. Because the europeans discriminately placed one people over the other led to this genocide. You happy now you ignorant racist fuks above my comment.

    • @ChillyBinzz
      @ChillyBinzz 7 років тому +9

      It's not "all" white peoples fault. It's the group of people who went over there and divided up land and territory without taking into account the cultural, tribal and ethnic differences. Then enforcing a heirachy system designed to oppress those of darker skin and bigger noses/lips while entitling those with lighter skin tone to better opportunity and social status thus breeding animosity between the two (Just like you dumb fuck black vs white race idiots) To top it off the occupiers killed, raped and pillaged an already poor region before leaving these people crippled.

      @b.k.5226 7 років тому +6

      I seriously doubt some of you even watched the video. Did you just see this as an opportunity to spout your hatred and bigotry? While it is true that war and conflict is a part of all cultures, Europeans did see Africa as a source of wealth they could (and did) exploit. These colonialism activities increased the amount of bloodshed and wars to the level we still see today. One particular example, which another person has pointed out in the comments already, was the conflict between the Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda. This entirely stemmed from how they were categorized by the Germans and Belgians. This created favoritism towards one group (Tutsis) over another (Hutu) and initiated a class warfare and genocide in Rwanda.
      Some great sources about this topic are Re-imagining Rwanda by Pottier, When Victims Become Killers by Mahmood Mamdani, Dancing in the Glory of Monsters by Jason Stearns and Africa's World War, Congo, the Rwandan Genocide, and the Making of a Continental Catastrophe by Gerard Prunier.
      So, here's a challenge, instead of attacking hyphy1985 personally, why don't you share with us your facts and arguements disproving what he stated?
