What’s funny as an office worker, we have our C Suite executives, Engineers and Product Managers having that luxury of working from home. Yet proclaiming the narrative to the rest of the frontline workers, especially within the call center to work in the office 5 days a week. While they are comfortable in their own homes not worrying about childcare and gas. It’s a hypocritical narrative that hurts the employees that make the least amount of money. If a job's expenditure is not above 20% all expenses related to work and living expense, then you will actually save money not working. People do not realize you cannot accept job positions that provide you with negative income when factoring in all expenses in your life. People living at the minimum wage level cannot save or change their habits to save more money in order to keep a job that gives them a net negative income outcome which is why so many open positions will never be filled at the lower levels of society. The same situation has and will happen across all class income levels throughout the world. You cannot subsist if both in the short term and long the revenue you generate is lower than expenses forced on you. What will happen is that people will attempt to dramatically alter their life style and much of the discretionary expenses thought to be essential will be pruned out and more and more people will never go back. @@MMPCTV Farmers go out of business. My foster parents ran a farm and the upcoming season is dependent on this season. Money earned is kept for the next year for feed and seed. Farmers can't afford to feed their animals because of the cost of feed now. Diesel runs farm equipment to harvest that food. Farmer cannot farm successfully with fuel so high and issues with fertilizer. When the profit from farming is less than the cost of running it, then farming stops. Just like any business out there, it has to close shop. Less farming, less food, equals more hungry people.
@@ren7784 Good luck with that argument. I live in Eastern Washington. Lots of farms. They aren't happy about the rising price of fuel, but this isn't the first time in my lifetime that fuel prices have spiked. Not one is in danger of going out of business. Prices at the store have gone up, some farmers cut into their profits so they don't loose market share, but not one is in danger of going out of business. People have to eat. Now you want to add in the fertilizer issue. That's a whole different conversation.

Why don’t we lower energy cost like the previous administration did? Remember, we were energy independent during the previous administration. All of this ended when Joe took office.
@Phillip Taylor First, to clarify doctors and nurses are not the only ones included as healthcare workers. Second, the majority of healthcare workers do not make 6 figures or more. Third, I'm not ignorant of the struggle for minimum wage workers, especially since they work in hospitals too.
It’s tough when a lot of Americans purchase cars that are not fuel efficient. Or cars that they don’t need like buying a pickup truck when what you need is a hatchback or a sedan. Also would help if car manufacturers made electric and hybrid vehicles more affordable, and if cities and towns improved their public transportation systems, and created walkable neighborhoods.
We just passed Memorial Day weekend in which Americans drove more than ever. How can we complain about high gas prices while at the same time constantly increasing our recreational driving? I haven't seen a reduction in the four wheelers and side-by-sides in the forests, boats on the water, or motorcycles on the roads. Even recreational flying has increased, and that's the most inefficient way to travel there is.
What exactly are you trying to say? People shouldn't travel to see families? People shouldn't travel for vacation after working their ass off all year? Got it, your solution is to stay home and work till you die....
More people equals more driving. How could we not complain when the government purposefully acts against our will? Or are you suggesting that we stop complaining and take up arms?
The switch to motorcycles in the warm weather makes sense. My neighbor stopped driving his Escalade and now rides his Harley to work everyday. Much cheaper on gas.
Add onto the idea that it seems both auto dealers and auto manufacturers may be conspiring to keep auto inventories low, so that auto prices stay high. I don't know what's driving this thinking about increased "shafting of the consumer", but there's gotta be a breaking point.

How about just vote out democrats who have terrible energy policies. Then we can get back to paying $1.79 a gallon like it was under Trump... just an idea.
Well im from Germany, there's a pretty decent public transportation system and they now introduce for everyone the 9€ ticket which means you can get across all of Germany by train and only have to pay 9€ once a month. I can only advise to get rid of the car based infrastructure for the future and build up public transportation. Cars would be still there, you'd just have more affordable options.
I never understood why any company who could set up workers to work from home wouldn't just stuck to that model permanently regardless of pandemic or gas prices. It would save them money by cutting down on the amount of space they need to rent for their business.

Our civilization and modern cities are built around the gas stations. The commuting is insane. Companies could help by hiring ppl close to the work place, and allowing as much remote work as possible. They could also facilitate car pooling among the employees.
Decades ago, long commutes for dad to get to work were solved by packing up the entire family and MOVING close the job. When I was younger, it took me less than two weeks to realize if a job I had taken was worth it in terms of getting above the break even point. Much of the marketing fluff you see will mean nothing, because many will have no income or are no longer sensitive to the influence due to survival factors.
