Absolutely. This could be the best choice. Firstly France is one of the most reliable country. Secondly, They have build & operating D Gaul class atomic powered CATOBAR carrier since long time without any problem. Thirdly we are buying Rafale Marine fighter jets which could be readily operable from its CATOBAR system.
We are now capable of designing & manufacturing Vikrant class Russian type), now if we want to leap forward to learn for more advanced technology(even minus nuclear reactor) then also we should go for French proposal. We can develop our own nuclear reactor suitable for this carrier or go for diesel & turbine engines for a 65,000 ton carrier.

If we could make a Nimitz or Gerald R Ford class Aircraft Carrier, that would be the best one for our Navy. ..we collaborate with france for iac 3 (60-80000 ton displacement carrier) with nuclear propulsion and catobar tech... which would eventually take time to be commissioned into the navy around 2038 as you mentioned and simultaneously build iac 2 which is a follow on of iac1 with slight improvements which will be completed earlier than collaboration carrier (iac3) by the time both are inducted into the navy ins Vikramaditya will be decommissioned and we will have 3 active carriers meeting our requirements ❤
Definitely a golden opportunity for India , Especially when our Geo-Political relations are so good we should not miss this opportunity. Co-development has its own benefits in current situations.

First we should give the repeat order of INS Vikrant and then focus on the bigger aircraft carrier on a long run with France. A collab would accelerate the process and we might be able to induct it by 2035.

Ins vikrant received formal govt approval in jan 2003 by NDA govt and ordered in 2004. Congress just delayed its construction by 10 yrs.
Even ins Vikramaditya was ordered on 20 jan 2004. So in a way both the carriers of Indian Navy was ordered and budget released by the NDA under Atal ji
