I had the G840S but returned it and got the G900 (Comes with the upgraded rear camera). I too have my rear camera mounted inside a tinted window. It works great during the day but at night it's terrible. I am currently re-evaluating the rear camera location. I do not have a Jeep but you are the only person I have found doing these extensive installs and reviews of these mirror systems. Looking forward to the next review.
Posting this here for other people that are doing research on this. I reached out to Wolfbox to find out what the difference is between the G840s and the G850 PRO, and this was their response: "G850pro has more features than G840s. G850pro: APP and WiFi; Smart Driving; Voice Control, which are not available in G840s."
How did you come to that informed decision, after watching this video? and did you know that there is a New higher resolution mirror dashcam than Wolfbox? it's called MARTALK 5K - 60 frames per second. I came to UA-cam to see a comparison of it and a Wolfbox G980 which I have and I am still looking to see a comparison of the two. But I don't think Ican stay awake, this one has put me to bed!
Very nicely done, however one critical parameter that everyone misses is backup camera boot time! When I'm backing out of my driveway or parking space, I can't wait 12 seconds for a backup camera image! That's ridiculous. This means most of the time when I NEED that backup camera, it's not available. Can you tell us what are the start up times for these mirrors? My built in Camry backup camera is instantly available when i start the vehicle.
Wolfbox 10" with WiFi would be perfect if they would make it. I have the adaptive cruse camera setup so these will not work for me. Hope your next video helps me find the right system
No because the cameras are mounted to the mirror. Unless you get a detached version like the Lingdu LD05, then you could put the camera at the front of your vehicle.check my other videos for details about that system.
With a 12" you have to turn the mirror to get the visor to come down. Not a big deal but something to consider. With the 10" you don't really have that issue.
After installing any of these dash cam will I loose the normal function of my rear view mirror?or do these cams have a way to let me use the rear view mirror while still recording?
I have the Woflbox, and you can turn off the unit and use the mirror as standard mirror whilst driving. The camera will still record as normal If you have the anti glare film, it might not work as a standard mirror anymore though
But that mirror is kind of dark. The other problem with this is that if you position it as a mirror then when you turn the display on the reflection of the rear window makes the display very hard to read, you would need to tilt the unit or move your head up or down every time you want to use it. The other solution (that I use) is to position the unit to reflect the interior of the car which is dark enough to make the display perfectly readable, and let the unit display the feed from the rear camera, which is a nice substitution for a real rear view mirror. The unit can display rear camera feed by default.
I am amazed why someone would ask that question? It's on all the time and it's better quality than your rear view mirror. On the other hand, if you are a "narcissist" who wants to look at themselves, while they drive get the G980 it has a front - rear - and a cab cam, so you can switch to any view instead of the rear view cam. But again, if you are a narcissist you're not going to like it off, cause the mirror has a darkened glare resistant, filter over it.
Both cams have awful real resolution. Numbers on plates are visible from what distance? 3-4 meters at most. This is limitation of ahd video standard used in both dashcams. That is to say, tradeoff between picture quality and video delays from cam to screen.
No comparing the two! You could of started out the review, at 30 minutes in where you compare their dashcam footage, side by side! Why didn't you compare the Wolfbox state of the art G 890 without a glaring add-on camera, that was another bad purchase. You should have titled the video: DASHCAMS AND ACCESSORIZESS I shouldn't have bought! Recent innovations in the dashcam market has come. up with increased the resolution and frame rate from the Wolfbox G 890 4K 30 frames per second to the MARTALK 5K - 60 frames per second! I think a comparison of those two dashcams would be more informative than your comparison of an outdated version of Wolfbox, actually a waste of time, compared to a dog of a dashcam that never stood a chance against your outdated purchase. Even after watching this comparison... (I had to have three cup of coffee to get through it) we are left with the age old question? What is the Highest Quality Dash cam on the market? You obviously don't know or you would of purchased it! It's certainly is not your outdated G840s, or the "Arrf~Arrf", Arpha! Nice Jeep though, if you had a dashcam like it, you might be able to catch someone, in a fender bender or a hit and run. :).
because sometimes we have vehicles like vans or trucks with shells that render the rearview mirror worthless. It's good to have an option to see behind us in those scenarios
@ Yes it's a same to have a great idea and then spoil it by a limited technology, for example, why not have a camera inside the vehicle connected directly with our smartphones and applications to download also integrated a silent alarm system that sends notifications to our smartphones

Yeah I think Wolfbox might be overrated, I am trying out a few other brands and maybe I will find a solution... Or maybe not.
Great content I just liked and subscribed ❤

Thanks for the video, now I know which one to buy. I’m going with the one that beats them both, the Wolbox G900
I think it's time for me to make a move myself but I was going to go with the G850. There's too many similar models imo

Super in depth video!! Only 96 likes?! Come on guys. Give this a like. Thank you sir
Thank you, and I am still trying to figure out how this UA-cam thing works.
Hi on the front camera is it possible to see how close you are to the curb when parking forward for low vehicles or not possible?
No because the cameras are mounted to the mirror. Unless you get a detached version like the Lingdu LD05, then you could put the camera at the front of your vehicle.check my other videos for details about that system.
Does any wolfbox or other have the ability to have navigation on the mirror?
Actually I might have one that does coming to the channel shortly.
Does either one block the use of your visors in the jeep?
With a 12" you have to turn the mirror to get the visor to come down. Not a big deal but something to consider. With the 10" you don't really have that issue.
By the way, 'military time' is just the 24hr clock that the rest of the world considers the norm.
As a Brit, I can't imagine using 12hr time.
Very true, didn't think about that.
Can the Dash Cam Power Adapter FitDVR would work with it for an easy installation?
I am not 100% sure about the adapter.

What he said is correct, if you turn it off or can still be used as a mirror if you wanted to.

Why the fuck are we complicating mirrors so much?
because sometimes we have vehicles like vans or trucks with shells that render the rearview mirror worthless. It's good to have an option to see behind us in those scenarios
Frankly!! Who uses 1080 P in 2025?? And what is this front camera resolution bullshit that is superior to the rear camera??? Why it's not the same ???
I agree, this has been my biggest issue with all of these systems. Seems to be a limitation with them all.
