That one slack pull video actually helped me figure out how to properly execute it despite having seen numerous videos on how to slack pull
When you don't keep your glute muscles contracted so the deadlift plug doesn't fall out, you're bound to have a harder time with the deadlift off the floor.

Do you recommend doing paused deadlifts light or moderately heavy for most lifters? As I feel if I go too light I can lift “through” bad positioning or bad slack pulling that may occur meaning the variation doesn’t translate as well to top end comp work, which is true of most variations comp style or otherwise. But then going too heavy adds extra fatigue
With pretty much every variation meant to work some aspect of form, I follow this protocol: Start training cycle off with it light, to get the hang of executing it well (for paused deadlifts that would be the right height consistently, and good pause duration). Then you progressively overload over the cycle to keep it challenging. Got to find the sweet spot where its hard enough to have to work to execute it well, but not so hard you can’t work it at all, or so easy it isn’t a struggle at all.

My problem off the floor is that once i see the bar isnt moving i stop pulling altogether. Im currently back to 465 for 1
