When I see your videos, I have faith that we will return to a more civilized time with grace, style, and taste. Not to mention...manners! Thanks for a great video.
You're wonderful! Etiquette is a dying art...thanks for making these videos. I like to think I'm cultured, but unfortunately I still dunk my biscotti in my coffee.
You are so elegant. I live to have tea parties with my granddaughter and usually we get silly but I try to use it to teach her at least a little bit of etiquette. Thank you for your videos, theybare a good way for us that are not people of means to learn proper etiquette
Fantastic posture and the pure substance, of fine art at the best. Mrs Starr has all the answers for your pleasure! A great video! Marvelous! My, I could just go on!
After you have served yourself with some sugar, place the lip back on the sugar container. Use your spoon to stir the coffee an then place the teaspoon on the saucer.
I'm meeting my friend's grandparents in South Carolina and was mildly nervous my casual Midwest manners might not cut it. However, this all aligns to how I was taught, which is reassuring. Thank you.
I am so glad I found this channel, it really deserves more views. I own a coffee pot I bought in an antique store for so little and indeed, why wait for some special day or special people while the pot sits there dusting. Why not making each day special with as ordinary as coffee?
I wish this level of attention to details would be shared more expansively. Attention to details paradoxically brings along an emphasis on what is important, as exhibited by Mrs. Starr in this video 👍 💖✨
I love using lovely china just for myself! I have never served sugar in paper packets, but the silver holder makes it look very nice. My favorite style of sugar are the crystallized sugar lumps.
There is something captivating about her, and aside from obviously being so classy and well mannered, I think it’s her voice. It’s interesting, not monotonous, and she pronounces every word very clearly. This has me wondering if I even speak well, I tend to talk fast and maybe don’t pronounce like I should.... Please excuse me while I go work on my voice, lol!
"Scalding the pot" so something we do in Ireland. I also like to pop some hot water into my cups before I pour my tea/coffee......it simply warms the cup. Having asked for a cappuccino a few times on my holidays, my cappuccino was poured into a cold cup. So by the time it was served to me, it was tepid. I don't like scalding tea/coffee. But tea/coffee is much nicer served in a warm cup.
Oh my god!! I was shocked that you had talking about Arabic coffee! Its amazing. And I have to make some points clear. when we want more coffee we just have to give our cup as the way it is. And when we do not want more we shake the cup. Also a little detail i want to talk about. In Arabic culture we hold the cup with the right hand, and the coffee pot with the left hand. Its because when we serve someone we should give them the little coffee cup with the right hand out of generosity for the guests. I’m apologizing if this was mean for you .
Thank you for the additional details. You are right and now that I have been training and coaching for years in the GCC, I have learned so much more! I enjoy your culture so much. GloriaStarr.com
Your videos have all been very helpful. I want to do,or say something and I remember Gloria Starr (etiquette and manners). I love the part where you said "I'm special too." P.S. I'm left-handed,and it would mean a great deal if there were a video of dining etiquette for left-handed people.
We use a thicker mug in Australia and the thinner mugs for tea generally. We usually use a plunger to serve instead of a pot or go to a cafe instead for barista coffee (our favourite obsession). I know Americans more often have brewed coffee when they go out though, which is difficult to grasp as an Australian haha.
I have posted many videos on Color Analysis, Accessories, Shoes and Dressing Tips... With over 700 videos - perhaps you could keep looking on my Channel
I love your video, I really like to learn new things; I have a question, I'm right handed, but I have a problem when it comes to table etiquette, I do everything how a left handed person would do it; is that consider rude?
Right or left handed - just do your best. Keep in mind that we are all constantly learning. Please do try the European dining way for a global approach.
I can't drink coffee (sensitive tummy), how do I politely decline coffee if I travel and it is the custom to drink the coffee as you indicated in this video.
What a wonderful video. Does anyone know what the proper thing to do with the empty sugar packets is? I often throw them in my purse or put them in my pocket to avoid trash cluttering up the table. - Also can anyone answer how you would deal with your beverage being too hot for you to drink comfortably but not the people around you. I have a very sensitive mouth so in a formal situation everyone else at the table would be drinking the coffee but i'd be waiting. I'm assuming blowing on it isn't advised. Perhaps it isn't a bad thing to wait. Ms Starr said she often doesn't drink the coffee so I suppose it must not be considered rude to not partake if you aren't the focus as a guest.
+Pale0Enchantress You can set the empty sugar packet on your saucer. If your beverage is too hot, just wait until it cools. Do not blow on beverages or food to cool them down.
Excuse me you didn't say where to place the sugar spoon after you served yourself ,. Do you cover the sugar container with the lid again or do you place the spoon on the side??????????????????????????
"I don't have to wait for special guests to show up. I'm special." That made my day!!

crazy diamond Always a great idea to warm the cups!
I actually like lukewarm coffee if it contains milk. Otherwise, no thanks.

Love your videos. How would one recommend telling the host one has health condition and is unable to ingest a specific item they are providing?
You could just say nothing and decline the item by saying no thank you.

I can't drink coffee (sensitive tummy), how do I politely decline coffee if I travel and it is the custom to drink the coffee as you indicated in this video.
I can say that up in Sweden you dont have warm milk to the coffey.
Maybe down in the continental Europe.
Different countries means different ways of preparing coffee! I enjoy the differences in the cultures.

Hello!
Is the any reason we have to hold the cup like this instead of put the finger into the cup handle?
Thank you very much!
Thank you .

How did you learn the proper etiquette for foreign countries. Did you have to take classes or just do your own research or was it trial and error
Brianne Morse Lots of research and in person experiences!
The best book on international Etiquette is Kiss, Bow or Shake Hands.

you're lovely ^^ .. I have a question
Where do I put the cup between drinking , on the plate or on the table !!
You would place the cup on the saucer when you are not drinking.
Gloria Starr Thank you ❤
how do you indicate the you want more coffee when it comes to Arabic coffee?
LOL i had the same problem the woman just kept putting more and more and i didnt know what to do
And then there’s me tryingto be cool drinking like levi.
Step up your game. You can always do better !
