The US was one of the nations hit hardest by the pandemic, and that falls largely on Trump's shoulders. It would have taken a great president to handle the pandemic well, given that America's poor healthcare system put it on a serious back foot compared to other economies when it came to dealing with the pandemic, but Trump's approach was a complete shambles and this was noticed on the global stage. It did for the US's projection of global power what the war in Ukraine did for Russia's.
