The corsair actually has worse build quality, so the sound reverberates across the plate, plus, the stabs on the Razer are also much better than the Corsair's. I am quite surprised to see how much Razer has been improving. I just wish they would improve the keycap quality and pricing and maybe I would be willing to recommend them to others.
@Jan S. The pricing is terrible for both companies. You can get a much better quality RGB keyboard for cheaper or the same price. Good examples: IKBC F108, IKBC MF108, Ducky Shine 6, Ducky One 2 RGB, and Coolermaster CK550 to name a few.
@Jan S. The Shine 6 is the most expensive board I listed, and the K70 Mk 2 SE is more expensive than the Shine 6 is here in the states. Another thing: Software is often times a limiter to a lot of products. The Shine 6 has a very easy software that has good functionality and whatnot, plus it has much better stabilizers and keycaps than these two competitors. Hell, If you need a wrist rest and media keys, you could even go with a red dragon for $60 that has the same if not better quality than these boards. Plus, wrist rests are pretty cheap anyway, so it should not be that big of a selling point.

Excuse me? The Huntsman Elite is damn good, and i honestly dunno why you are comparing it to an Apple keyboard. Also, the Opto-Mechanical switches are amazing, I tested them on gamescom this year and they are really similar to the Razer Green switches but as fast as the MX Speeds. The HME also has a much better Wristrest, while the K95 Platinum has one made out of rubber. The K95P has got macro keys, but the HME doesnt have, but it has some spicy rgb lighting around the entire keyboard while the k95P only got a single rgb lighting strip on the top. Both are made out of aluminum and both have complete rgb lighting, both have on-board memory. The HME has an digital dial , the K95P has normal media keys. Conclusion: Both keyboards are great options, but the HME has more features then the K95P, therefore being a slightly better keyboard, but for that you need to pay 10$ extra.
I just ordered my first ever mechanical keyboard last night on Amazon. I'm extremely excited for it, as I've never used a mechanical keyboard at all and I want to see what all the hype is about! I ordered a K70 Mk.2 with Cherry Mx Reds and I'll be upgrading from my cheap $10 Logitech K120.
Except the Razer Blackwidow Elite does not store lighting along with its profiles. They default to the Spectrum Cycling if Synapse 3 isn't present within the machine you're using.
I fucking hate it and I'm not saying it for trashing, it's way too distinct. It's nice for so little number of people and it's disgusting for many. Corsair should take into consideration that a manufacturer that big should play safe and go for pleasing anyone who look at their product. (at least not make the customer wanna look away)
I am currently between these two keyboard, actually the K70 mk.2 Low Profile one to be precise. I'm still unsure which to grab, I wish I had better access to trying these out before I buy.
Having tried both, I prefer the Razer(green). The Razer greens just had a more appealing sound and feel, plus every key felt the same. I don’t know if it’s the one I had or not but on the K70, several keys had an inconsistent feel, like they had red switches instead of blue. I am also not a fan of the font. I did like the customizability with the iCue software but it was funky with MSI integration. If I has MSI Dragon Center running, it would lock out iCue. I’d always have to shut it down to be able to use iCue. I ended up with the Blackwidow Elite and added the PBT keys to it. Makes for a great keyboard.
Having owned an ornata chroma and now a k70 rgb mk.2, yes razer undoubtedly has way more comfortable of a wrist rest, but it only took slightly more than a year for the leather padding to tear and wear out. I don't see that happening to the k70's wristrest.
Either way competition is great. I remember 5-7 years ago going into Best Buy wanting to buy a Razor Keyboard to go with my Naga and they were sold out. I settled on a Corsair and loved the fact it was aluminum and didn't look back. It's great to see Razor going full tilt to one up the Corsair because the results are amazing evolution in design.
I've gone through 3 corsair keyboards now in 2 years, 1 strafe rgb v1 and 2 k95 plats and all of them had the same problem... Led colours going out of sync, doing a weird flashing thing and eventually just dieing. I love corsair and the k95, but after this many faults, I've decided to try razer. I've seen alot of people saying they have the same problems as me, one person even mentioned it happened more when it was cold, so I'm wondering if it's cause my room gets a little damp... But the rest of my pc has been fine
I've been a Razer user for a long time. Before I switched up my entire setup with Razer products I had a Roccat mouse, keyboard, and mousepad. Over the past years I've had about 2 Razer keyboards, 2 Mice and 2 Headsets. None of them work anymore and Razer didn't care to send me replacements because their warranty time is pretty short. It's funny because all my roccat stuff even completely eaten up and dusted still work perfectly fine. After my Blackwidow chroma bit the dust I decided to switch for the Corsair K95 Platinum and it was the best choice I've ever made and I'm thinking of getting the K70 mk.2. I'm just gonna say this; I've never been particularly unsatisfied with my Razer products, but you're paying more for aesthetics and brand name than you are for quality and long life span.
yeah razer products are really a hit or miss. sometimes they last long, sometimes they die. i like their huntsman because it takes away all the problems of a mechanical keyboard and leaves the good stuff.
I had the exact same problem but with corsair in 2 years I've had 1 strafe rgb and 2 k95 plats all 3 of them had the same problem of led lights going off colour, flickering and eventually dieing... Was also getting double key presses. Alot of other people have been getting the same problem too. One person said he noticed it happened in the cold season, so I'm not sure if a damp room is what's causing it. I love corsair keyboards but 3 times is too many, gonna be trying the BW elite
I just bought the K70 M.2 I'm really loving the design and the feel of the cherry mx brown as this is my first mechanical keyboard. It feels really good when gaming. I'd say just choose whatever keyboard you prefer in design and looks and if you like the feel of cherry or not just go with your gut. I went with my gut and I'm not regretting it so far.
@2662jack No, I only hear the spring sound and thats only if I put my ear right next to the actual key being pressed, it doesnt bother me when I play games or type. There could be something wrong with yours maybe a manufacture defect. You should contact Corsair, aside from that do you like the feel of it the way your fingers type. If so then you should stick with it but get a replacement, if it does the same thing then that's when you should maybe find a different keyboard.
It's been like 11 months since I bought my Razer Blackwidow and I absolutely hate it, I like the look and how smooth it is, but the switches are crap, some of them now are required to be pushed harder then others and others are just sometimes stuck for like half second when pushed. I am not saying that Corsair K70 mk.2 is better or anything, but I am definitely ordering it to try out.
razer's normal mech switches are a hit or miss, not gonna lie. i love their opto mechanical switches, because they don't have the same problems as the other three. my old blackwidow V2 had some massive chatter problems though, so i've become scared of normal mech switches.

some people don't like (also me) white keycaps, yeah they look good and clean, but after some amount of use they will become dirt magnet. the 'normal' edition should also have pbt doubleshot keycaps imo.

Hey not sure if you already bought something, but honestly. Logitech is the best for an ecosystem set up. If not that, then Corsair. HyperX, I don't have much experience with them apart from their mousepad which is amazing. Anyways, it's your choice but that's just my two cents.

If The Razer Keyboard took a page from Corsair and used Doubleshot keycaps, and had a white option, as well as including cool things like a keycap puller, and WASD keycaps it would be perfect. The Padded Razer wrist rests are amazing.
@Uncle Damfee - the main problem with Razer keyboards is their SWITCHES though. They're trash and feel horrible. Wayyyyy too clicky and loud in person. On the other hand, If Corsair took a page from Razer they would have close to the perfect keyboard with their K95 platinum: upgrade their wrist rest fix the space bar stabilizer get a better font (they already fixed the software issues) the PBT keycaps should also be included with the K95 platinum v2 for $200 (or really ANY keyboard over $150)
I walked into my tech store ready to buy the black widow elite, sales guy talked me out of it for the Corsair K70 Mk.2. I really love the keyboard but I'm so used to razer software it's part of why I was torn. I'll get use to the iCue stuff. I got the Cherry Red switch and love it!
Please do Strafe vs ROG Strix Flare. Is the customization of rog strix flare lighting as much as strafe software? Both are among only several keyboard with that reflective panel, which causes more RGB to reflect. They and Blackwidow Chroma.
I have both keyboards at the same time. The buttons on the Razer Blackwidow Elite are quieter and more stable. In contrast, I don't like the sway and noise of the cherry :) K70 MK.2 Metallic paint is too thin，Installing the hand rest will cause scratches.This is a bad design！But the Razer Blackwidow Elite Razer Synapse 3 driver is very bad. RGB settings often fail.
What are the switches you have on both boards, and which is louder? Because I hear the Corsair’s metal cause the switches to be louder, just wanting to confirm
I have the K70 mk.2 and can confirm that the space bar, backspace, shift and enter keys rattle like hell and are making me seriously consider getting a blackwidow elite to replace it.
@@henryvincent5188 The regular sized keys such as the letter keys don't rattle at all. Anything larger than that has a twangy rattle that drives me crazy on this keyboard. I have read posts where people shove little bits of plastic under the stabilizers to quiet the rattle but I really don't like that solution.
@Calamity it is more expensive, because of the feeling, texture, quality. If you prefer a very good gaming keyboard, you should go with Razer, but if you just don't game at all, you should choose other brand less expensive, because you wouldn't use it that much

what he doesn't mention is that the iCUE software for the corsair Mk2 MUST be running in order to use the rgb lighting effects. The onboard storage of 3 profiles is actually trash since those profiles (known in the software as "hardware profiles") can only be static lighting effects or the default rainbow ones. What's more is that if you delete the default hardware profiles (so that you would upload your own) you CANNOT get them back as they removed that functionality from iCUE. So why is it a big deal to run the software in order to use the fancy lighting effects? Because iCUE will use a ridiculous amount of cpu power and for me it HALVED my frames in Apex. iCUE is super powerful and intricate and cool but it has so many issues and is heavily critisized. For me I couldn't afford to have it running because i wanted the performance, but then I can't have ANY backlighting at all because there are no hardware profiles on the keyboard, and the only way it seems to add them back is to uninstall iCUE, and install an older version which allows the creation of hardware profiles, and then stay at that version forever. Then I could at least have static lighting effects. Not worth it. TL:DR: 50% of corsair's marketting for this product is baseless.
I have both of these actually. I do like the Corsair, but the switches werent for me really. I just got the blackwidow elite yesterday and I love it. I prefer the see through media keys on the Corsair though.
Went with k70 because all the lights in my pc and ram are corsair…dont want another program (synapse) running in the background…pretty satisfied with it but that goddamn spacebar is loud AF…
why dont you talk about the main problem that corsair k70 all models have spacebar problems? The spacebar of the k70 does not have stabilizer and is production fail, i replaced 4 times and was thinking i might get an jackpot. But they are all fail and many faults. read on forums.. spacebar on k70 does lift up on each side and fall out of balance when pressing on the edges.
Most people I know actually like linear switches (typically red or black) but it all comes down to preference. If you can, visit to a store that sells all of them and test your way through. Then buy the one you liked best.
Man I wish the damn BW Elite came with those mx silent ( pink looking although Corsair calls them mx silent reds) switches...I tried them out today as Best buy on that 5 switch demo switch thing and it was PERFECT..fast..linear feeling with the MOST silent keys I've ever heard on mechanical switches...Much more silent than my Logitech g710+ cherry mx browns
Corsair's software has Mac OS support while Synapse 3 still nowhere to be found on Mac OS. Not all users who're wanting to use a decent mechanical keyboard are gamers. I like Blackwidow Elite but I'll be switching it with Corsair today because of their neglecting of their Mac OS user base for this long.
“The wrist rest isn’t what we expect from Corsair” I guess you’ve never tried their older k series keyboards. These updated wrist rests are actually really nice.
I'm a strict Corsair/ Cherry Switch user. (reds for the win) I HATE that these companies have stopped using cherry switches i think it's an obvious cost saving measure that has done nothing but give the consumer a worse experience while still paying the same money for an inferior board IMO.
I think it all comes down to preference. I’ve tried Cherry, Razer, Kailh and Romer G (Logitech) switches and for my taste the Cherry ones (reds and browns) were by far the worst mainly because they’re scratchy af (unlubed). I‘d rather use a membrane keyboard than Cherrys. Romer G tactile feel kinda like lighter Cherry Browns (as in not tactile at all) but they’re noticeably less scratchy after a few hours of use. The Razer Oranges felt quite nice though not really tactile either but more so than Cherry browns. For the kailh (regular browns) they felt quite similar to the Razer ones but that may be because Kailh manufactures Switches for Razer. The epiphany for me came with the Kailh BOX reds never felt a smoother switch and they’re quite easily my favourite as of now the only downside is that there are only very few prebuilt keyboards that use BOX reds (at least where I live) so very few people don’t even know them.
Wait did I actually see the Blackwidow elite finally having their secondary keys illuminated? I might have to get one of these. You won't get a keycap puller from Razer because really are their keycaps switchable like the Cherrys?

some people don't like (also me) white keycaps, yeah they look good and clean, but after some amount of use they will become dirt magnet.
the 'normal' edition should also have pbt doubleshot keycaps imo.

Hey not sure if you already bought something, but honestly. Logitech is the best for an ecosystem set up. If not that, then Corsair. HyperX, I don't have much experience with them apart from their mousepad which is amazing. Anyways, it's your choice but that's just my two cents.

@@mikelpimentel9192 Hey Mikel! I've used three razer headsets (mind you I take extensive care of my goods from any company). They all broke within 1-6 months. I've never used a logitech headset but from friends I know they're reliable in competitive and casual environments. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask anymore questions!

If The Razer Keyboard took a page from Corsair and used Doubleshot keycaps, and had a white option, as well as including cool things like a keycap puller, and WASD keycaps it would be perfect. The Padded Razer wrist rests are amazing.

@Uncle Damfee - the main problem with Razer keyboards is their SWITCHES though. They're trash and feel horrible. Wayyyyy too clicky and loud in person. On the other hand, If Corsair took a page from Razer they would have close to the perfect keyboard with their K95 platinum:
upgrade their wrist rest
fix the space bar stabilizer
get a better font
(they already fixed the software issues)
the PBT keycaps should also be included with the K95 platinum v2 for $200 (or really ANY keyboard over $150)
AM Motorsport the switches are nice though. you have an option to go with non-clicky swiches. I guess its from person to person.

I walked into my tech store ready to buy the black widow elite, sales guy talked me out of it for the Corsair K70 Mk.2. I really love the keyboard but I'm so used to razer software it's part of why I was torn. I'll get use to the iCue stuff. I got the Cherry Red switch and love it!

I have both keyboards at the same time. The buttons on the Razer Blackwidow Elite are quieter and more stable. In contrast, I don't like the sway and noise of the cherry :)

I have the K70 mk.2 and can confirm that the space bar, backspace, shift and enter keys rattle like hell and are making me seriously consider getting a blackwidow elite to replace it.
you can't really tell the difference between the space and any other key lol
@@henryvincent5188 The regular sized keys such as the letter keys don't rattle at all. Anything larger than that has a twangy rattle that drives me crazy on this keyboard. I have read posts where people shove little bits of plastic under the stabilizers to quiet the rattle but I really don't like that solution.

@Calamity it is more expensive, because of the feeling, texture, quality. If you prefer a very good gaming keyboard, you should go with Razer, but if you just don't game at all, you should choose other brand less expensive, because you wouldn't use it that much

what he doesn't mention is that the iCUE software for the corsair Mk2 MUST be running in order to use the rgb lighting effects. The onboard storage of 3 profiles is actually trash since those profiles (known in the software as "hardware profiles") can only be static lighting effects or the default rainbow ones. What's more is that if you delete the default hardware profiles (so that you would upload your own) you CANNOT get them back as they removed that functionality from iCUE. So why is it a big deal to run the software in order to use the fancy lighting effects? Because iCUE will use a ridiculous amount of cpu power and for me it HALVED my frames in Apex.
iCUE is super powerful and intricate and cool but it has so many issues and is heavily critisized. For me I couldn't afford to have it running because i wanted the performance, but then I can't have ANY backlighting at all because there are no hardware profiles on the keyboard, and the only way it seems to add them back is to uninstall iCUE, and install an older version which allows the creation of hardware profiles, and then stay at that version forever. Then I could at least have static lighting effects. Not worth it.
TL:DR: 50% of corsair's marketting for this product is baseless.

I have both of these actually. I do like the Corsair, but the switches werent for me really. I just got the blackwidow elite yesterday and I love it. I prefer the see through media keys on the Corsair though.
Went with k70 because all the lights in my pc and ram are corsair…dont want another program (synapse) running in the background…pretty satisfied with it but that goddamn spacebar is loud AF…
why dont you talk about the main problem that corsair k70 all models have spacebar problems? The spacebar of the k70 does not have stabilizer and is production fail, i replaced 4 times and was thinking i might get an jackpot. But they are all fail and many faults. read on forums.. spacebar on k70 does lift up on each side and fall out of balance when pressing on the edges.

Most people I know actually like linear switches (typically red or black) but it all comes down to preference. If you can, visit to a store that sells all of them and test your way through. Then buy the one you liked best.
Man I wish the damn BW Elite came with those mx silent ( pink looking although Corsair calls them mx silent reds) switches...I tried them out today as Best buy on that 5 switch demo switch thing and it was PERFECT..fast..linear feeling with the MOST silent keys I've ever heard on mechanical switches...Much more silent than my Logitech g710+ cherry mx browns

I HATE that these companies have stopped using cherry switches i think it's an obvious cost saving measure that has done nothing but give the consumer a worse experience while still paying the same money for an inferior board IMO.
I think it all comes down to preference.
I’ve tried Cherry, Razer, Kailh and Romer G (Logitech) switches and for my taste the Cherry ones (reds and browns) were by far the worst mainly because they’re scratchy af (unlubed). I‘d rather use a membrane keyboard than Cherrys.
Romer G tactile feel kinda like lighter Cherry Browns (as in not tactile at all) but they’re noticeably less scratchy after a few hours of use.
The Razer Oranges felt quite nice though not really tactile either but more so than Cherry browns.
For the kailh (regular browns) they felt quite similar to the Razer ones but that may be because Kailh manufactures Switches for Razer.
The epiphany for me came with the Kailh BOX reds never felt a smoother switch and they’re quite easily my favourite as of now the only downside is that there are only very few prebuilt keyboards that use BOX reds (at least where I live) so very few people don’t even know them.
Wait did I actually see the Blackwidow elite finally having their secondary keys illuminated? I might have to get one of these. You won't get a keycap puller from Razer because really are their keycaps switchable like the Cherrys?
