My wife and I visited a few places in Hokkaido over the winter holiday. We actually only ate ramen once in Hokkaido in a "ramen alley" in a department store near Sapporo Station. It was miso ramen but we were not big fans. Actually our favorite bowl of the trip was Kitakata style ramen we ate in Aizu Wakamatsu (喜多方ラーメン専門店 喜鈴 城前店). I think we are trending towards liking shoyu style these days as it can be lighter in flavor.
Sorry to hear that the miso ramen wasn't to your liking in Sapporo! Do you remember the name of the place? Kitakata style ramen is amazing and I'm glad you both felt the same way. Along with the light soup, you gotta love those bouncy noodles!
@@5AMRamen Ramen Sora (ラーメン空 ) in the ESTA building in Sapporo Station. No complaints. We had great food in Hokkaido and plenty of tasty miso ramen in various places over the years. We are getting older so I think we are naturally leaning towards less fatty/oily options. 👍
I've never had a curry ramen, but I hope to remedy that next time I go to Japan. I'm planning a month-long stay in Tokyo, specifically to eat lots of food...
Coming back to Hokkaido series for miso ramen research purposes haha. I think it's my fav series of yours. Feels so coherent and adventurous. Good vibes!
Haha, important research 😊. I'm happy to hear that - I really enjoyed filming the series myself...nothing quite like Hokkaido. Perhaps in the future I could film another one up there. Thanks so much for watching (again too)!
Do people take ferries between the islands typically or fly commuter? Also, that chasu pork looked more like a piece of beef brisket with the texture and slicing.
Sorry - just responding to these comments now!! You've likely already left but here are 2: goo.gl/maps/N5jVs4hA17JBX6zHA goo.gl/maps/W57PMK6bBKVP4t2c6 I hope you otherwise enjoyed Kushiro.
Oh, Franks, it hurts just thinking about eating two bowls back-to-back! There should be some way to translate Japanese spiciness into some kind of standard unit, like Thai. My concept is that a Japanese 10 might be a Thai 2. We've got out trip set for May 10-24 and would love to grab a bowl with you!
It was quite a lot! That sounds about right - subtract 8 when converting from Thai to Japan spiciness 😃 Fantastic your trip is set up! Please reach out if you haven't already.
I love this channel and the dude is very good on cam but I have to watch on at least 1.25x speed. It sounds like the audio is slowed down, but I'm sure he's just a slow talker. My dad is a slow talker so no hate, slow talkers are genuinely thinking before they speak 💜
Which bowl you got??
That curry ramen looked like the perfect winter meal. I have to try it someday!
Curry, definitely. Looking forward to your visit to Kushiro.

High quality video as usual! Thank you!
Thank you for watching! Next stop - Kushiro!
The day you post a video about eating something, other than ramen, the universe will self implode.
Would definitely not want that...looks like the ramen eating has to continue (fine by me 😅)
I want to try the curry ramen.
I'm sure you'd like it! I did, although I'm sure I would have enjoyed it even more if I didn't have other 2 big ones right before.
Yummy! Thank you Frank! =)
Thank you for watching!
Amazing ramen pilgrimage across Hokkaido! Keep up the amazing work!
Will do and thanks for watching the pilgrimage!
It's the road less traveled ... always take the road less traveled.
Love the vidz man really appreciate em.
Appreciate you watching! Next up is Kushiro City 🍜
my brothers went with level 4 and 6 ..crazy
That curry ramen would be so good on this oh so cold day!
Wish I could send some over to you direct from Hokkaido!
Curry ramen sounds amazing 👍
Oh yes, somehow Curry Ramen is what I need right now :D haha
You'd like that one! Surprised we don't see more of it across the country.
Love the ramen travelling series
Thanks for coming along for the ride!
I love ramen but I can't eat it that often! I'm kinda jealous!!!😆
No need to go to the extent I have...enjoying it once in a while having it every so often prob makes it more special!
I loved traveling to Japan, and I can't wait to go back someday. My heart needs it. Ramen is the jam !
Japan and its glorious ramen awaits your return!

Love it (a month of eating)! Curry ramen and everything else will be waiting for you 😃
@@5AMRamen I'm sooooo looking forward to it! Once I know when I'm gonna be there can I ask you for some recommendations?

Hokkaido is an absolute bucket list item 😗
A must visit!
when it comes spicy ramen damn even a level 2 is so so so so spicey hot.....i can't do it
Level 2 is still admirable 😃
2 bowls 🍜🍜 of ramen and 2 eggs in one sitting, you are a trooper. They both looked really good. Road less traveled?
I was thinking of "The Road Not Taken"! But I clearly jumbled that up with "The Road Less Traveled" 😅
Thanks for watching.

Note that theres a train tunnel between main island and hokkaido
Yes, train, car, ferry - all is possible to Hokkaido! Although the bullet train doesn't yet go all the way up to Sapporo.
Im in Kushiro right now and fly out tomorrow, any recommendations? :)

@@5AMRamen I literally was staying right in the middle of those two locations haha. Well, there's always next time!

If you felt pushed by two bowls then I'm scared of 1. I'll get that spicy miso. I don't know how I'm going to leave Hokkaido next trip.
Haha...they were def not your typical sized bowls. You can apply for a ramen residency in Hokkaido 😃
I love spicy miso ramen but man, I'm a bit afraid to try spicy ramen that's so intensely colored!
That lava red color is misleading...I think you'd be good to go for this one 😃

I feel you - esp. with the voiceover I was thinking "this is a little too slow"...
