Yes, the Lithuanian winter is long and dark, but if your work and relationships are good, you will find plenty of light and sparkle around you. I loved being there for the Christmas season, and when the sun does shine again, people will flock outside to bathe in the sunlight. It is a beautiful country, full of gracious people. Clearly not easy and calm :D Depends on the area you live in, but in cities it can be a bit of hell, it's no different than Ukraine or Russia here, at least a "jail code" is being used in the streets by gopniks or other problematic ppl so it's not that bad.

Really enjoying your videos and appreciate the time and detail you go in to 😊 As for winter, a dry crisp winter is gorgeous. Just buy the best quality of warm boots (waterproof), down coat pref to the thighs or lower , wool hat, scarf and mittens and then thermal underwear. Buy natural fibers for clothing- I think wool is better than cotton. I've lived in Cda all my life and -30 c is bearable as long as you have the right clothing and get out and enjoy the beauty of the snow 🥰 OH and buy a humidifier- indoor heating will dry out your skin, hair, face, sinuses, throat etc so you need to bring some moisture back in to your home in the winter. Open the windows of course for fresh air too 🤗.
in winter you get by with cosy rituals - scented candles, hot chocolate drinks, cozy lights, cookies and nice movie nights. Also you must get out outside in a daylight everyday even if it's a short walk. ALSO - supplement vitamin D3!!
At the 6 min. mark there is a woman coming out of the woods. Did you happen to notice whether she was gathering mushrooms? That's very popular in Lithuania.

It's dark in Chicago from about 6 PM until about 7AM these days. I hate to think about darkness when we have day light savings time setback of one hour. How much daylight do you have in Lithuania?
you wake up at dark, go to work - sit at the office with office lights (either a dark place in general or you work with computers and daylight just dont cut it) - go out in the dark again ;)
hahaha so so true. It's not really that cold here at the moment, it was probably only 40 degrees outside, maybe slightly less. I have thermals and a much warmer coat for the lower temperatures!
Great video thank you (as usual). I would like to comment about no one speaking English in shops in Lithuania. This may be a bit misleading information to international watchers. The town you currently reside is very small and absolutely not touristy but in all major places most of staff speaks at least basic or intermediate English. Especially people under 40 years old. English is compulsory language in schools, I don't imagine any normal young-ish person who would not understand in English what is vaccination card. I had multiple vistors visiting me in Lithuania from Ireland, UK, Denmark and everyone were fine with getting around communicating in English everywhere... I am sure the particular town of Utena might be having such issue (because I am sure you are sayng truth) but the the rest of most places... Apart of that thank you again for you amazing vlog, really enjoyed it!
I don't have a problem anywhere else in all of Lithuania haha, just at the supermarkets in Utena. Everyone speaks English pretty much everywhere we go, especially in the cities, but even in the smaller towns there is usually a young person who can help out.
So nice to see you enjoying your time here, but again beware winter is coming (just different kind of fun stuff)! we sat just few meters apart in the game btw, would have been fun to say hi :)
Love wool socks and boots! :) When you are in Lithuania or Germany do you use Fareiheit or know also Celcius? its not hard to convert? UTENA is beautiful and my favourite shop is IKI, which is owned by Rewe group (Germany), like also LIDL (Germany). Near UTENA is beautiful and interesting Atomic city - Visaginas where live a lot of Russians :) There are many lakes and Pines :)
oh my god how you are going to enjoy our winter. God please give us regular winter and amount of snow despite our well known biggest polluters! Thank you
I can't see bad thing about Lithuania winter weather. I always responding positive way. Yes, Lithuania could be relaxing country, Iam doing career in one of the biggest UK cities and very intensive time could be. Thank you for nice feedback about my country Lithuania 👌.
There is supposed to be a Russian tank in the lake in Utena. The story is that it fell through the ice in the war. Well that is what we got told anyway :)
I stopped the video and check my vaccine card online, looking for a bar code, or whatever it's called...and I have one. But my physical card is the basic oversized paper card that doesn't look real. When I 1st received my vaccination card, I thought to myself, "this is garbage, it doesn't fit in my wallet, and it doesn't look real." My fear was that when I get back on the road, no one is going to take this care seriously. I hope my electronical (spelling?) card works.
Hey! Again, great video showcasing the beauty of Lithuania, I feel happy that you are enjoying your time there :) I wanted to ask. Myself and my wife would like to move there. As a Lithuanian native with a job lined up, I am not so worried. But my wife is of Sri Lankan descent and speaks Tamil as well as English. Have you got a job for the duration of your stay there, and if so, how easy was it to find one, considering the language barrier? Thanks!
Hey, Lithuanian native here. It really depends on the city. If you come to the capital, almost everyone is able to speak English. When it comes to jobs it really depends on the job type, if its (in my case) it, then we have around 40% of developers, content writers and testers, that don't speak Lithuanian and just moved here. Overall most people who have at least a bachelors can speak English here :)

That's so strange. I live in a state in America where nobody cares. I got vaccinated in April and not once been asked for my vaccine card in my state or any of the surrounding states when I travel either. I've been asked by regular people about my vaccination status when where about to crowd into like an elevator but that's about it. Good video.
It's not that unusual over here - I get asked for it most places in Lithuania, was asked for it almost everywhere in Germany, many places in Spain, Italy and France are asking for them for indoor dining or shopping. It's not too different in New York either.
I just got back from Spain. I got a QR code to scan from the airlines required by EU. It required identifying all my locations I traveled in Spain or elsewhere. The US is debating a Covid passport. I t sure would be easier for travel to have a Covid passport. Without that, I feel kind of confined.
It depends. I feel unsafe being unvaccinated because people here are not that kind like they pretend to be communicating with foreigners both online and in real life. They've completely bought into the vaxed-unvaxed dichotomy of the civil discord sown by the Government. They're two-faced. Lithuania essentially has become an authoritarian state approaching the neo-totalitarian society at such a rapid pace, it even has become a piece of world news nowadays, and a bogeyman for what not to do. So I plan to move to a neighbouring country. No future here, and the country is devolving.
Since I made this video I’ve actually been able to get an EU covid pass, so no more worries about that!

you wake up at dark, go to work - sit at the office with office lights (either a dark place in general or you work with computers and daylight just dont cut it) - go out in the dark again ;)
You poor thing, you forgot what cold really is!!! What you had on is what I would wear in NH when it is 32 degrees. Buy some thermal long johns.
hahaha so so true. It's not really that cold here at the moment, it was probably only 40 degrees outside, maybe slightly less. I have thermals and a much warmer coat for the lower temperatures!
I really love your videos you always look great in your coat, scarf, jeans and Lithuania looks really nice although I am so deeply in love with Spain
Loved Your video, like allways ❤
Thank you!

This is what I thought🙂
We are still waiting for your visit to Anykščiai 🤭😅
I know haha, maybe in the spring when we will have a car to get there a bit more easily!
So nice to see you enjoying your time here, but again beware winter is coming (just different kind of fun stuff)! we sat just few meters apart in the game btw, would have been fun to say hi :)
haha no way! How funny, hope you enjoyed the game!
Is it possible to do stealth camping in a van or small RV in Lithuania?
Sure, why not.
Possible very much 😃
So many changes since I was there in '98.
You should visit city Trakai
Love wool socks and boots! :) When you are in Lithuania or Germany do you use Fareiheit or know also Celcius? its not hard to convert? UTENA is beautiful and my favourite shop is IKI, which is owned by Rewe group (Germany), like also LIDL (Germany). Near UTENA is beautiful and interesting Atomic city - Visaginas where live a lot of Russians :) There are many lakes and Pines :)
I use Celcius - I usually just put the Fahrenheit on the videos because I know there are viewers in the USA.
@@laura-bronner Good!:)
Tu normalus ar tiesiog gyrtas ? netriesk miltais jptvm =] atomic city :D
You should come more often to watch football as LT wasn't winning for ages and may be you are the lucky one :)

oh my god how you are going to enjoy our winter. God please give us regular winter and amount of snow despite our well known biggest polluters! Thank you
How did you choose Lithuania?
U should go to in Kaunas to watch some Žalgirys games
I can't see bad thing about Lithuania winter weather.
I always responding positive way.
Yes, Lithuania could be relaxing country, Iam doing career in one of the biggest UK cities and very intensive time could be.
Thank you for nice feedback about my country Lithuania 👌.
Just wondering, how your able to fund your great lifestyle?
what made you move to Lithuania ? do foreigners get on ok there ?
So what is the town you live in in Lithuania
What is the minimum partime hour salry for students
There is supposed to be a Russian tank in the lake in Utena. The story is that it fell through the ice in the war. Well that is what we got told anyway :)
haha really? I've not heard that before, sounds interesting, I'll have to ask around!
u are very lucky :) Lithuania first win in 5 years
is it safe country to stay long
What about as black foreigner?I am thinking of studying at Kaunas.
I can recommend many trails around Vilnius and Trakai. But you need a car.
Come over to Klaipeda :)
I've been once already and loved it! I'll be back again for sure!
Can you compare Lithuania to any of the USA States? Wich one is the closest compared by the landscape and climate? Maybe smth like MI or WI?
I've never been to either of those states. It doesn't remind me of anywhere else I've been before.
Lithuania embassy is open in India or not
What do u do for living?
@@lowevar6 Dėkoju Jums už atsakymą. Norint įkurti šeima ir įsigyti butą/namą tai bus sunku man vienam ant vienos algos. Bet tikiuosi viskas kažkaip įkris į vieta sakant. :) where there is a will, there is a way, as they say!
How did u get it with USA card ?
Sveikinu ir sekmes gyvenime
Thank’s for sharing, if you are ever in Vilnius and want a good but free excursion, feel free to contact ;)
Thanks so much! That would be great!
Are we going to ignore that a 6-pack of Corona like a 1.2 Euros!?
Tried leaving a comment, but it gets deleted all the time and no idea why:/
oh no! I'm not sure why that happens, I don't delete any comments. Hopefully you'll be able to comment again without a problem :)
It's not too different in New York either.
where the small market of famous UTENA.... kek
I just got back from Spain. I got a QR code to scan from the airlines required by EU. It required identifying all my locations I traveled in Spain or elsewhere. The US is debating a Covid passport. I t sure would be easier for travel to have a Covid passport. Without that, I feel kind of confined.
Is luthahinia safe.?
one of the safest
I'm in LTU
