I have a 91 and 94 CE24 both with HFS/ Vintage Bass pups and alder/ maple bodies. That combination is amazing and my favorite guitar model. I do have an SE CE24 and although the 85/15s sound a little harsh and brittle at times, a height adjustment and/or magnet swap can make a BIG difference. And, plus, also, the amp settings and volume knob also gives greater control of your output. I have to say, the SE CE24 is probably the easiest playing guitar I have. And i have many. Just amazing playability!
Good comparisson. I have owned 1999, 2006, and 2016 CE-22's and 24's. I prefer the older ones due to the one piece neck, deeper body carve, and US made bridge. I also didn't love the plastic birds on the new model. Overall the old ones just have a higher level of craftsmanship and quality of parts. You can't argue with the playability of the new ones though, they are still great guitars, but I personally prefer the old ones. I'm curious about the new SE's though. I love how affordable they are.

Is it a fair comparison with the 5-way delete on the old skool ce?
The 5 way rotary was switched out for a 6 way Freeway toggle.
