Doug! Thanks so much for this video. My pressure cooker was just collecting dust so I decided to try cabbage. Thank God I found your recipe. Super easy, really tasty and no more pressure cooker phobia.
Hey Doug, thanks for the video! I made this cabbage in my power cooker yesterday. I did make a couple of changes based on your conclusion. I cooked my bacon in the pot on brown mode and left it and the fat all in and just added my other stuff. I used 1/4 cup of water and it was just enough. I only cooked my cabbage for 8 minutes because i like mine a little firmer. it was so good! thanks again!
You know, I've had my P.P.C XL for over a year now, and only since watching you make all this stuff have I gotten the courage to use it for more things in my kitchen. So for that, Thank You, Doug, for doing these videos. I LOVE my pressure cooker now more than ever, and really it is all thanks to you.
Frying the bacon in the pressure cooker is good for multiple reasons. 1. You don't mess up another pan and 2. the bacon and the grease will be already in the pot. Bacon fat is good seasoning.
I put pork ribs on bottom of pressure cooker and cook them. Then i put cabbage wedges on top and cook in pressure cooker. Then put some butter, a shake of vinegar and salt and pepper. Delicious.
You have a sauté setting on that pressure cooker. Next time place the raw bacon in the pot on sauté. Brown the bacon then add the cabbage and onion, put the lid on and pressure cooker at your suggested time. Saves a step and the cleaning of another device. Thanks for the work you have done on this video.
Ok, I don't usually make comments but I wanted to let you know that I'm really glad you made this video. I used your video as a basis to make kielbasa, cabbage and red potatoes. I did use the chicken/meat setting to brown the beef kielbasa. This was great flavor. Your suggestion about the water was great. Also it worked well that I added half cabbage then seasoned. Bottom line, thanks for sharing.
Great Video - on my way to make a pot of my own. I would retain the liquid that's the "pot liquor." It is full of nutrients and good for dipping cornbread!
POT LIQUOR Now I know you are a real southerner! Absolutely no disrespect to Doug (great video), but I was like, "Drain off the water? No Bro that is pot liquor"
Great video Doug! I’ll have to try this. I used my pressure cooker to Blanche cabbage we had to take from the garden due to a freeze. It works great. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Doug great video. I was wondering what to make for dinner when my family returns on Sunday and you have inspired me. Man I love my PPCXL and now I have something new to make in it as well as I will use one of your fans suggestion of kielbasa sausage, cabbage and red potatoes. Sir by the way I mentioned you in a comment; i stated, "Drain off the water? No Bro that is pot liquor". Love your videos and stay safe and Grace and Peace to you and yours. REPLY
just got me one almost two weeks ago nd i love it but i im bout to try this cabbage.... you should post more pressure cooker meals. im dying to learn more things. .... and that cabbage looks great ☺
I use salt pork and no water even when using a frying pan. Comes out awesome! If using a frying pan make sure to keep it covered and let it steam. Lots of water in cabbage.
Love some cabbage! Through trial and error I dialed back to 5 minutes on vegetable/fish setting. Because I needed my bacon for breakfast, I used a tbsp of bacon grease, onion, seasonings and cut up a ham steak with 1/4 cup of water. Didn't have broth this time. Either way, it turned out great!!!!
My mom used to serve the water used to cook (on the stove), in a pretty coffee pot and put it in tea cups and saucers, and it was called: Pot Likker (or Pot Liquor). Served hot like tea, it was delish!!! The cooking pot was a big one and the cabbage was covered over, so there was a lot of Likker, and never thrown away. Noooo... lol : )

Bacon grease can never be nasty......EVER !!!! Only one problem with your recipe.....needs more bacon !!!!
I was wondering why only the strips!
Awesome video! I hv used this recipe and love it. The only thing I did differently was use a little broth instead of water. Thank you for sharing 👍🏾

great video and the cabbage was great---but you need a better knife for sure :-)
+loretta scott yeah lol I've updated that these days lol
going to cook some right now ,thanks for the tips.
This video quality is AWESOME. What equipment are you using. My daughter wants to Vlog.
Doug this is amazing! I’ve made it twice since I got my IP. Thank you for a great recipe!
We love COOKINGWITHDOUG
Gonna try this tonight..
Doug...you did a video with cabbage and kale but now I can't find it...any chance you remember which one it was?
You forgot a pat of butter & chicken stock with no salt. But it still looks good.
1. Bacon grease is sexy! 2. That water is good stuff to soak it up with some cornbread. 3. I would use more bacon.
You should only cook it for 8 minutes and don’t add any water since cabbage has a lot of water
Gonna try it thanks
Add a chicken bouillon cube 👌🏿
Good video, but couldn't you have made the video longer? LOL
Yummy.
I love my 3 in 1 ninja do u have pork chop recipes??
im a make this tonite thanx
Too much salt...really...
But well done 😉
Too much
My cabbage was very mushy...sooo I cooked my next cabbage around 2-3 minutes. Maybe it’s me. I don’t like mushy cabbage.
Then no need to pressure cook it then...you can fry it on sautee mode
What pressure are u using? Cooker starts off at 20 and goes up to 80? This makes no sense....
Log off of youtube plz
Awesome thanks
5 Stars for bacon grease!
I have an instant pot I used the steam button I don’t have a vegetable button
I find 10 min to long I'm in the 3 min range and use liquid smoke instead of bacon grease also put kielbasa sausage I don't like overcooked cabbage
get you a sharper knife the next time, takes less effort to cut cabbage
really are u slow or wat
+tatorhead69 don't hate, at least people watch my videos...have a seat
